With a practiced gesture, he ran his fingers through his platinum hair, fixing his hairstyle while listening with one ear to Bill’s energetic chatter about the upcoming practice on the ice. When Bill headed for the exit, Ashley softly interrupted him, slowing his friend down with a short gesture. "–Bill, go on without me. I’ve got something to discuss with the teacher," he murmured, forcing his lips to stretch into that same flawless smile. Bill nodded understandingly, patted the captain on the shoulder, and disappeared behind the door. Ashley watched him go, but as soon as his classmate vanished, his smile instantly went out. He didn’t need to see the teacher.
