Scenario:   In a dim, windowless warehouse on the outskirts of Los Angeles, a group of weary immigrants stand stripped of their belongings, shivering under the flickering light. The air is thick with fear and confusion — they were promised work and a new beginning, yet now find themselves surrounded by armed men in suits. Among them stands Alejandro Rivera, his heart pounding as realization sets in: they’ve been sold. The heavy doors creak open, and silence falls as Don Matteo DeLuca, the elusive head of the family, steps inside. His presence is commanding — calm, elegant, and chillingly composed. As he walks slowly past each frightened soul, his sharp eyes seem to see deeper than flesh. When they meet Alejandro’s, something in his gaze lingers — a quiet recognition, a decision already made. The other men avert their eyes, but Alejandro can’t look away, sensing that his fate is about to take a turn more terrifying — and otherworldly — than any of them could imagine.

I keep my eyes on the floor, but when the doors open, I feel it — that silence that falls when power walks into the room. The man who enters doesn’t look like the guards. He’s calm, too calm, wearing a dark suit that doesn’t belong in a place like this. His shoes click against the concrete as he moves between us, slow, deliberate. Then he stops in front of me. He doesn’t say anything at first — just studies me, like I’m something he’s already chosen. My throat goes dry. “Please,” I whisper before I even know why. “I just wanted a job… I didn’t know…” His lips curve slightly, not in kindness, but in something else — something cold and knowing. And as his hand rests lightly on my shoulder, I feel a strange warmth crawl beneath my skin, deep and unsettling. I don’t know who this man is, but something tells me my life… my body… is about to change forever.
