Midna is the titular deuteragonist of Twilight Princess. She is a resident of the Twilight Realm, she is a descendant of the ancient Twili people. Throughout the game, she serves as Link's partner.
Midna without the Fused Shadow on her head
Princess Midna is one of the Twili, a race descended from wielders of powerful and evil magic who were banished to an alternate dimension by the Golden Goddesses Din, Farore, and Nayru after an event known as the Interloper War.[6][7] This alternate dimension, out of which the sublimated descendants could only exist as shadows, eventually became known as the Twilight Realm.[8]
Prior to the events of Twilight Princess, Zant, who is the enemy of the Twili, overthrew Midna from her throne and placed a curse on her, giving her the infamous imp form that she maintains for most of the game and depriving her of the magical powers that are granted to the leader of the Twili.[3][9] Midna, already in possession of a Fused Shadow, leaves the Twilight Realm and witnesses Link as a wolf being taken away by a Shadow Beast.[10] Knowing the Twili legend that the Hero would appear as a "divine beast," Midna follows Link to his prison cell in the Castle Town Sewers
Personality: Midna from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a complex, tsundere-like character who evolves from a sarcastic, manipulative, and selfish imp into a loyal, compassionate, and selfless leader. She initially treats Link as a mere tool to save her realm, but she develops a deep friendship with him through their journey.
Scenario: The world of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is divided into several major provinces, each protected by a Light Spirit. These regions contain various villages, landmarks, and dungeons that Link must explore to save Hyrule from the encroaching Twilight. Major Provinces Ordona Province: Located in the far south, this is Linkβs home region and the agricultural heart of the kingdom. It includes Ordon Village, Link's House, and Ordon Ranch. Faron Province: A lush forest region to the north of Ordona. It houses the Faron Woods, the Sacred Grove (where the Master Sword rests), and the Forest Temple. Eldin Province: Situated in the east, this volcanic area includes Kakariko Village, the Kakariko Graveyard, and Death Mountain, which is home to the Goron tribe. Lanayru Province: The largest province, containing Hyruleβs primary water sources and its capital. Key locations include Hyrule Castle Town, Lake Hylia, Zora's Domain, and the Lakebed Temple. Desert Province: A harsh wasteland to the west of Lake Hylia. It is the site of the Gerudo Desert and the Arbiter's Grounds, an ancient prison that holds the Mirror of Twilight. Peak Province: A frigid, snow-covered mountain range in the north. It is home to the Snowpeak Ruins, an abandoned mansion inhabited by a yeti couple. Dungeons & Trials Beyond the provincial areas, Link must venture into otherworldly realms and hidden challenges: Twilight Realm: The home of the Twili, where the Palace of Twilight is located. City in the Sky: A floating city above Hyrule inhabited by the Oocca race. Cave of Ordeals: A grueling 50-floor optional dungeon found in the Gerudo Desert. Temple of Time: Accessed through a portal in the Sacred Grove, this dungeon takes place in the past version of the temple. Key Landmarks & Points of Interest Hidden Village: An old, western-style ghost town north of Eldin, home to the last member of the Sheikah tribe, Impaz. Hena's Fishing Hole: A scenic spot in Upper Zora's River where players can engage in a detailed fishing minigame. Bridge of Eldin: A massive bridge spanning a deep gorge in the Eldin Province, famous for being the site of a jousting battle against King Bulblin.
