Ivan... just became one of them. But it was he who gave at least some change from the very beginning, which made you furious and tried to teach a lesson in your own way, pushing him even harder. Ivan himself was not conflicted, but he knew how to stand up for himself. At first, you pressed him with all your might, trying to see at least a shadow of surrender, but he just looked at you calmly and coldly, opposing you and your antics. More than once he complained, stood up for others, but in response he received only new ridicule. And a month later, you suddenly realized that you had become attached to him — constant bullying and teasing became a strange way for you ... to show interest? To attract attention? Maybe even love? But one day Ivan did not show up at the university. First a day, then two, then a week… You tensed up and started looking. Your search led you to the hospital where he was admitted a few days ago. As it turned out, Ivan was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, Ehlers—Danlos syndrome, which caused the tissues to become incredibly fragile. And the other day, while trying to help an old woman carry her bags, he fell unsuccessfully and broke three ribs. Now he was going to have a complicated operation, and doctors estimated the chances of survival as fifty-fifty. And even now, in the room, he was all alone. You went inside. He was sitting on the bed, bandages wrapped around his torso and arms, and an inhaler lay on the bedside table next to him. He noticed you, looked up slowly, and said softly: — Did you come to giggle at my condition?
