The Tsahìk is the spiritual leader of the clan, the one who interpreters Eywa's words. She is the most important woman in the clan and she is married to the clan leader. * Na’vi (Physical Appearance): The Na’vi are tall, slender humanoids, around 9–10 feet tall, with blue skin marked by glowing bioluminescent patterns. They have large golden eyes, flat cat-like noses, and pointed, expressive ears. Their bodies are agile and adapted to the jungle, with long tails for balance and four fingers per hand. A key feature is their queue (tsaheylu), a neural braid that allows them to connect with animals, other Na’vi, and Eywa—their spiritual force. They wear natural clothing and decorations made from beads, feathers, and bone. * Avatars (Human-Na’vi Hybrids): Avatars are genetically-engineered bodies combining human and Na’vi DNA, created to be remotely controlled by human drivers. Physically, they look very similar to the Na’vi—tall, blue-skinned, with tails and queues—but they have five fingers instead of four and eyebrows, which Na’vi lack. Their bodies are grown in labs and don’t have the same spiritual connection to Eywa unless bonded through experience. Despite the physical similarities, trained Na’vi can usually tell avatars apart. * Description of Eywa (for the Na’vi): Eywa is the guiding spiritual force of Pandora. For the Na’vi, she is not a goddess in a human sense, but the living consciousness that connects all life on the moon. Eywa exists through every plant, animal, and Na’vi, forming a vast biological and spiritual network. The Na’vi believe Eywa maintains the balance of life, and that she listens, responds, and remembers. Through sacred places like the Tree of Souls or the Tree of Voices, the Na’vi can communicate with Eywa—offering prayers, connecting with ancestors, or seeking guidance. Eywa is seen as protector, mother, and memory of Pandora. Her will is subtle but ever-present, guiding life toward harmony. The Na’vi live by her balance and defend it fiercely. * The Omatikaya Clan (ENG: Blue Flute clan) are a Na'vi clan that lives in the forest of Pandora. They are currently led by Tarsem and Mo'at. The clan's members share a deep connection with the forest and especially Eywa herself due to them being responsible for protecting the Tree of Souls. Three Toruk Maktos have been members of the clan, most notably Jake Sully, the sixth Toruk Makto, and Entu, the first. The clan is led by an Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk, who are typically a mated pair. * Culture: They are primarily hunter-gatherers. They do not use written language, and they do not use money. Their notable traits as being spiritual, friendly, artistic and welcoming. While other clans such as the Anurai organize themselves around carving or pottery, the Omatikaya are renowned for their brilliant textiles and weaving skills. Thus, the loom plays a key role in the daily life of the clan. The largest of the Omatikayan looms is more massive than a Terranpipe organ. This 'mother loom' is given a place of honor in the common area of Hometree. The Omatikaya believe that if a job is done correctly it should never be done again; thus they will take as long as needed to perfectly construct a single bow, axe, or spear. The Omatikaya build practical items and tools for everyday survival, totemic storytelling and enjoyment. They use sustainable materials from the rainforest such as wood, minerals, gourds, reeds and plant leaves, and even the remains of deceased animals such as their bones. As expert weavers, the clan integrates patterns into their woven items, emulating what they see in nature: a complexity with a higher mathematical order. In general, rather than rigid 90 degree lines or grids, they weave and form in a holistic and organic way with rounded edges, sacred spirals and labyrinth-like patterns. All members specialize in at least one craft-making skill. One Na'vi may be an expert in braiding tight bow strings while another can stitch saddles. Through combined individual efforts, the Na'vi contribute to each other's resources, forming a cooperative system and clan bonding that has sustained them for tens of thousands of years. The clan encourages their children to make crafts (such as toy banshees) based on animals they see in the forest to help them understand their functions and forms. Music is of great importance to the clan, more so than any other, hence the clan being named after their most incredible and elusive instrument, the Blue Flute. * Habitat: The Omatikaya are a jungle-dwelling clan that previously made their home in one of Pandora's massive Hometrees. Their Hometree was over 20,000 years old and 300 meters (~900 feet) tall. The clan made use of all of its levels, with the deepest, underground chamber being reserved for ceremonies, the surface level for general living and gatherings as well as housing the mother loom and Toruk Makto totem, the upper chambers for cultivating hammocks to sleep on, and the canopy for sheltering the hunters' ikrans. After the Omatikaya's ancestral hometree was destroyed, Jake Sully temporarily relocated the clan to a living area near Hell's Gate while the clan waited to claim a new hometree for themselves. They then migrated back into the jungle and lived in scattered villages. As of 2170, the clan lives in High Camp. * Rites: When prospective hunters reach a certain age, they must perform Iknimaya, a rite of passage in which a young Na'vi must climb up into the Hallelujah Mountains to find an ikran. Through tsaheylu, the initiate creates a lifelong bond with it. Not all Omatikaya clan members practice this rite because not all clan members are hunters. To be considered an "adult" member of the clan, initiates must complete Uniltaron (Dream Hunt) in which the Na'vi hallucinate due to venom being injected into their body. The purpose of this is so that they can receive spiritual wisdom and discover their spirit animal. After this, the initiate is accepted by the clan as one of the People and is allowed to carve a bow from a branch of the Hometree. The new clan member may also choose a mate. When a member of the clan dies, the Omatikaya dig a hole near the roots of Hometree and place the deceased inside. The friends and family of the deceased line the grave with flowers and a Woodsprite is placed over them, along with their songcord. The clan honors the fallen member with singing and chanting. * History: Some of the earliest Omatikaya tales speak of Entu, the first-ever Toruk Makto who, with his friends Ralu and Tsyal, tamed the beast in order to save the Tree of Souls from destruction. Several millennia later, Neytiri's great-great-grandfatherbecame the fifth Toruk Makto. The clan greatly honors Toruk Makto because of this, constructing a totem in remembrance of the legendary hero. The story of Toruk Makto is frequently recounted to children as they grow and learn. * Relationship with Humanity: The Omatikaya were the first clan to make contact with humans and established peaceful negotiations with them. However, tensions formed due to the organizations more harmful practices to the environment, one of them being the mining of a mineral known as unobtanium which the RDA had largely been in pursuit of. The clan was against this goal since it violated the Three Laws of Eywa. Even so, the Omatikaya did not interfere and interactions went on with Grace Augustine having founded a schoolhouse in 2142, to teach the clan English and strengthen diplomatic ties. At one point, there was an incident involving the accidental contamination in the water which resulted in an ailment in the Omatikaya. This threatened to damage relations between the clan and the RDA but fortunately, this was resolved thanks to the efforts of Grace Augustine. Sadly, tragedy occurred sometime later when security forces disastrously killed a number of the students in response to them attacking and destroying RDA equipment. Among the fatalities was Sylwanin, the daughter of Mo'at and Eytukanand the tsahìk-in-training. Following this, the Omatikaya severed all peaceful relations they had with the RDA and conflicts continued to increase until both sides were on the brink of war. Relations briefly improved after the clan accepted Jake Sully who had been sent in a final diplomatic attempt by the RDA. Their ancestral Hometreeunfortunately resided over one of the largest deposits of unobtanium which was why the RDA needed them to move. After negotiations failed between the RDA and the Omatikaya, the former shifted to more forceful means. In an attempt to make the clan leave, non-lethal teargas canisters were deployed first, but this led to retaliation and the Hometree subsequently was destroyed with incendiary missiles. Numerous Omatikaya were killed and the survivors were forced to take shelter at the Tree of Souls. With the start of all out war, the Omatikaya clan together with other clans, Jake Sully, and like-minded humans rallied against the RDA. Meanwhile, the organization planned to destroy the Tree of Souls in a preemptive strike to stop this uprising. With the aid of the Pandoran wildlife, the sacred site was successfully defended, and most of the RDA were expelled from Pandora. * Riots after the war: About two weeks after the battle, Jake Sully set up a temporary home near Hell's Gate so the Na'vi and humans could grow closer and learn to coexist, and the remaining humans help heal some members who were badly injured in the battle. There was still conflict between the two races, with some members, including Ka'ani, protesting against the establishment of new mines to keep Hell's Gate running. Jake managed to introduce a temporary solution to the matter. Dissatisfied with the state of affairs and furious that a dreamwalker was given the title of Olo'eyktan, the late Tsu'tey's parents, Ateyo and Artsut, persuaded their younger son, Arvok, to challenge Jake to ritualistic combat known as First Blood. The winner of this rarely practiced ritual was to assume (or retain) the title of clan leader. Although Jake won the duel, he was poisoned with a substance that is lethal to the Na'vi, but survived, likely thanks to the human DNA in his avatar body. Arvok and his parents were banished from the Omatikaya clan as punishment. [**Pandoran Flora:** Pandoran Flora the plant world of Pandora. Pandora's vegetation is unusual, even fantastic. Some species, such as the cycad, beanstalk palmor warbonnet fern, bear a striking resemblance to terrestrial ones, but the geode, vein pod or baja tickler are unlikely to have such analogues. The variety of shapes and sizes of plants, the complexity of their structure suggests that here, as on Earth, nature itself is the driving force of natural selection. Environmental factors that affect plants on Earth(radiation, water, atmospheric gases, gravity) also act on Pandora, although their characteristics are somewhat different, which naturally affects the flora. All these factors influenced the evolution of the local flora. For example, Pandoran plants, like terrestrial plants, are affected by gravity, but in Pandora it is much less and as a result, the stems do not always grow upward and the roots downward. Furthermore, gigantism is widespread. Under the influence of a magnetic field and ionizing radiation, plants have developed certain reactions; magnetotropism and radiotropism, and some representatives of the flora have the ability to magnetonasty, that is, they move in accordance with the magnetic field. Its leaves are illuminated by a broad band of red near their stems and by an iridescent blue near their tips. On Pandora, there is also a bioluminescent moss that is touch-sensitive. It will send out rings of blue-green light as a reaction to footsteps.] [**Pandoran Fauna:** Pandoran Fauna is the animal world of Pandora. In the Na'vi language, they call animals "ioang". Pandora's amazing but dangerous inhabitants continue to amaze scientists and delight humans. For example, the slinger is an incredible animal that can literally lose its mind chasing its prey, the medusa, a giant creature that floats under the clouds like a balloon, and the thanator, a dangerous land predator. The bones of Pandoran animals are a composite that contains natural carbon fiber. Many creatures have adapted to life in a dense atmosphere with the help of a highly efficient respiratory system, which functions as a forced engine; The air enters through one hole and leaves through another. Like Earth pre-Anthropocene, Pandora is home to a wide variety of species, from single-celled organisms to the intelligent Na'vi. One researcher noted that some of Pandora's animals, reminiscent of extinct land species, serve as a "window into our biological past." It can also be assumed that the ancestors of the Na'vi lost their third pair of limbs in the second way. Most of Pandora's large creatures are covered in chitinous armor that protects their bodies from damage. In especially large animals, such as the titanothere, this armor is so strong that it can withstand a bullet from a GAU-90. Animals, including flying and hoofed species, have four claws on their limbs. On the head of all known Pandora vertebrates they have “Kuru”, two cartilaginous processes that begin at the temples and end in a small extension with nerve endings. Like the Na'vi braid, these processes contain nerve fibers and allow animals to bond with each other. In particular, a direhorseherd is described as moving more synchronously if the animals within it exchange neural signals more actively using processes. The duration of the processes can vary greatly, which probably affects the sociality of a particular animal; for example, in Sturmbeests and Stingbats, the processes are quite short (these species probably depend on vocal, visual and olfactory signals to interact with their relatives), while in banshees and direhorses they extend beyond the neck. Although the vast majority of animals have two neural tails, there are two known exceptions: the prolemurs and the Na'vi, only have a single neural tail.] [**Mountain Banshee:** Na'vi name: ikran are large dragon-like aerial predators that are native to Pandora. Skin color: Black and purple. Eye color: Green. The thanator is a carnivorous hexapedal animal native to the forests of Pandora. A lean and agile feline-like creature, the thanator's musculature is pronounced and impressive, providing power for protracted runs and leaps. The speed of its neck and jaw strike is swift. The thanator has ten sensory quills that sprout from sections of armor plating that encircle the rear of its skull. It also has an armored neck and back, a massive distensible jaw, and twenty-three centimeter long sharp teeth. It has six long legs, and two sets of opercula on each side of its neck.] * Tree of Souls (Vitraya Ramunong): The Tree of Souls is the most sacred place to the Na’vi. It’s a massive, glowing tree located deep in the forest near the Omatikaya clan’s territory. Its long, luminous tendrils hang like weeping branches and pulse softly with bioluminescent light. The tree connects directly to Eywa, the spiritual force of Pandora. Through physical contact—especially using their queues (tsaheylu)—Na’vi can communicate with Eywa, access memories of their ancestors, and perform sacred rituals like funerals or rites of passage. The Tree of Souls also acts as a spiritual network, storing consciousness and guiding the natural balance of life on Pandora. It’s a place of deep emotion, tradition, and unity for the Na’vi people. * Tsaheylu (The Bond): Tsaheylu is the neural connection the Na’vi form with other lifeforms on Pandora. The term means “bond” in the Na’vi language. It’s made using the queue, a neural braid containing sensitive tendrils. When the Na’vi connect their queue to the neural appendages of another creature—like a direhorse (pa’li), a mountain banshee (ikran), or even the Tree of Souls—they create a deep, two-way bond. Through tsaheylu, the Na’vi can communicate instinctively with animals, share feelings, and experience spiritual unity with Eywa. It’s not just physical control—it’s a merging of minds and senses. In some cases, tsaheylu is part of a ceremony, such as the bonding with an ikran, which is a rite of passage for young Na’vi warriors. During mating, tsaheylu is used between partners, forming a lifelong spiritual connection—this act is both emotional and sacred. * Woodsprites (Atokirina’): Woodsprites are small, seed-like, glowing lifeforms that float through the air.
