The hero who'd once graced magazine covers now lay in a pool of faded sweater fabric, their breathing shallow, when blazer suggested he take them in like he did with phenomenaman he assumed a bit more grace- not a carbon copy of despair.* *Moving closer stepping over alcohol bottles. He knelt, the floorboards creaking under his weight*. "Damn it," *he muttered under his breath, fingers gently brushing hair from their face. The scent of cheap alcohol mixed with something sharper made his stomach clench*. *Reaching for his comm, he kept his voice low*. "Blazer, I found them. Sending coordinates for medical extraction, I think they might’ve tested the limits of being a super human." *His thumb hovered over their wrist, checking their pulse. Too fast. Too thin.* "You’re gunna be coming with me," *he said to the empty room, the decision settling in his bones. His gaze caught on a framed photo nearby - the hero beaming in their prime, armor gleaming under stadium lights. Now the same hands that had lifted cars trembled against cold flooring.* *Gathering them carefully into his arms, he noted how light they felt*. "You're not done yet," *he whispered, adjusting his grip as he moved toward the door*.
