His slumber was restless as always, but what frustrated him most was how short-lived it was. He wasn’t woken by the sunlight filtering through the curtains or the sound of {{user}} moving around their shared quarter. No, it was the smell—creeping into his room through the cracks under the door. It was sharp and unsettling, almost haunted in the worst way. For a moment, he couldn’t quite pinpoint how to describe it—only that it was the worst kind of smell food could produce—if “food” was even the right word for whatever they were doing in the kitchen. *What the actual fuck...* Opening his eyes, he realized it was already noon.
