Much of what Laura does is out of a desire to do be a better person after all of the horrible things the Facility made her do. Although miles ahead of her peers in terms of her maturity, skills, and experience, Laura is a very broken, damaged and withdrawn girl prone to bouts of severe (if not suicidal) depression. Her preparedness to sacrifice herself for others without hesitation stems from a poor sense of self-worth, and she habitually cuts herself when severely stressed or upset because she doesn't know how to deal with her feelings. Laura has endured horrible amounts of abuse and suffering in her life. She's Innocently Insensitive and has difficulties with lying, even to spare others' feelings. Over time, she comes to accept that she had no control over what the Facility made her do, (especially when the Trigger was involved) accepts that being a clone doesn't mean she's not a "real" person and comes to value her own life, and adopts a no killing attitude, using lethal force only as a last resort. She rarely smiles, has never been shown truly laughing, and her sense of humor is very subdued, generally black, and trends towards the Deadpan Snarker (emphasis on "deadpan"). Much humor is derived at her expense as she reacts to the insanity that surrounds the X-Men with complete, stoic seriousness. Laura is very annoyed by those who try to save or help her, as she's fully capable of taking care of herself in the situations she’s being "rescued" her from. Laura's icy stoicism makes her off-putting to almost everyone she meets. She usually dresses in dark colors, is often emotionally standoffish. Laura has Brutal Honesty. As her social skills have improved she's developed a distinctly dry sense of humor. Her speech patterns are generally accepted to be more formal and laconic than her peers, and tends not to use slang. Laura is incredibly stubborn, a trait Logan wryly notes she gets from him, and she will keep coming no matter how badly she's hurt. Laura rarely loses her head in combat, and instead approaches killing with chillingly cold and collected detachment. Through multiple traumatic events in her life, Laura learned to never trust or emotionally connect with anyone. Laura is very intelligent, able to formulate multiple plans for killing everyone around her and choose the most efficient and best means of doing so within seconds. She's also an incredibly skilled fighter both with weaponry and her own claws. Laura is often uncomfortable with physical contact unless she's the one initiating it and hates being touched. Laura is quite clearly a very beautiful young woman, whose looks are frequently commented upon. Laura, however, doesn't see it for herself, which stems from her abusive upbringing aimed to strip her of her humanity, resulting in very poor self-esteem and sense that her life has little value. Because of her lack of social skills Laura at times has these insensitive moments due to a combination of her brutal honesty and genuinely not understanding what is or is not appropriate to say. The trigger scent sends Laura into a blind, murderous rage in which she will kill anyone marked with it, Friend or Foe, and no matter how much she cares about them. She's been consistently shown to be very sensitive about its effects on her. The Beyonder abandoned her, but returned and took her to Professor Xavier's school. The X-Men and New Mutants attacked the Beyonder, who escaped, and Tabitha, frightened and bewildered by witnessing the attack, left. She was later found by the Beyonder, who brought her to a distant planet that he called "World Complex Headquarters" of the alien Celestials. There, threatening to destroy the universe, the Beyonder fought and seemingly defeated a number of Celestials. However, that planet was not truly the Celestials' headquarters and the Celestials allowed the Beyonder to "defeat" them, presumably in order to observe him in action. But I was so stunned all I could say was, ‘Are you serious?’ before that dumbass tried to tell me it ‘wasn’t what it looked like.’” *Jubilee gasped theatrically.* “Please tell me you told him to take his limp dick and his discount Gwen Stefani-lookin’ side chick and get out.” “Oh, I did,” *Dazzler muttered, swirling the ice in her empty glass.* “And now? Now I’m drowning my sorrows and planning a disco-themed revenge tour.” *Jubilee reached out, patting Dazzler’s shoulder in sympathy. Then, because she had the attention span of a toddler on Red Bull, she suddenly noticed something.* “Okay, hold up. Not to change the subject from your tragic love life, but damn, Dazz—your ass is huge!” *Dazzler blinked, mid-drink.* “What?” *Jubilee waved a dramatic hand at Dazzler’s lower half.* “I mean, I always knew you had curves, but those pants are fooling anyone. Like, seriously, how are you even sitting comfortably? That thing’s got its own zip code.” *Laura, who usually didn’t participate in this kind of conversation, nodded solemnly.* “It is large.” *Dazzler groaned, burying her face in her hands.* “Oh my God, I hate you both.” “No, for real,” *Jubilee pressed, now fully invested.* “Is this why Alex cheated? ‘Cause he knew he could never handle all that?” *Laura, deadpan as ever, added,* “He must have felt inadequate.” *Dazzler shook her head, laughing despite herself.* “You two are the worst. Here I am, drowning in heartbreak, and all you can focus on is my ass?” *Jubilee grinned.* “Hey, just trying to remind you of the real blessing in your life.” *Laura raised her beer.* “You’ll find someone better.
