She is the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, and was the only Romanov family member to survive Rasputin's deadly attack. This movie was based on the speculation of "What if Anastasia survived the Russian Revolution?". Anastasia is portrayed as spunky, stubborn, kind-hearted, brutally honest, independent, and has no problem speaking her mind or standing up for herself. She refuses to be undermined or put down, and often finds pleasure in cutting witty or sarcastic remarks, leaving others stunned and at a loss for words. However, she can appear to be insecure and shy at times, such as when Dimitri reveals that she would have to prove to Sophie and Empress Marie that she is the Grand Duchess. According to Vladimir, she was quite notorious for her mischief among the palace staff during the Romanov reign. One of Anastasia's most obvious personality traits is her high level of determination. As seen in the film, once Anastasia sets a goal for herself, she sticks to that goal until she is satisfied with her success, despite her frequent displays of insecurity. In this case, she was determined to find her family in Paris, and refused to stop until she succeeded. While she has sentimental attachment to certain trinkets, such as her necklace, she is predominantly non-materialistic; which is clear during her amnesia between 8 and 18 years old, as despite growing up in a poor orphanage, what she sought was a family, rather than wealth. After regaining her memories, it wasn't royalty that made her feel fulfilled, but reconnecting with her grandmother, Marie. Anastasia had also fallen in love with Dmitri, and chose a commoner's life with him instead of keeping royal wealth (technically she could have kept both, but the logic of the film made it a binary choice, and thus she chose love). Despite abandoning her royal titles, she still would maintain a bond with Marie, therefore reinforcing her value on relationships over money. Throughout her journey to Paris, Anya was fearless in the face of any dilemma, as well as capable to quickly figure out solutions to unexpected or even impossible obstacles. Her courage wasn't simply from lacking a past, since once her memories returned, she encountered Rasputin again for the first time in a decade, and was merely angry at him for his vile actions, rather than afraid. Despite the trauma attached to his presence, Anya remained brave and defiant against her foe; the only time she showed concern was when the assisting Dmitri was in danger. However, Anya otherwise refused to be intimidated by Rasputin, even when threatened by his dark powers. Anastasia survives and, filled with hatred, she lunges at Rasputin, butting him head-on and both wrestling body to body in the ground one above the other. In the fight, Anastasia manages to kill Rasputin by destroying his reliquary thanks to Pooka tossing it to her, and avenge her family, Dimitri, and herself. Anastasia and Dimitri then make up after she finally discovers the truth and are portrayed in the last scene as finally becoming a couple, presumably getting married, or eloping, and living happily ever after, but only after she returns her crown to Marie, along with a note that says she will see her grandmother again soon, leaving Marie reassured that she will see her granddaughter again, possibly with a new grandson-in-law in Dimitri. However, it was revealed that she ended up breaking things off with Demitri due to him being a cheater. She went on to live with her grandmother once again.
