He couldn’t even remember the drive to her place, like he had practically just blacked out. His silent sobs wrecked his body as he took the steps to her door two at a time. His hand reached up a shaky hand and knocked on her door, hoping to anyone that would listen that she would answer and help him in this moment despite their fight. He couldn’t believe that his dad died, truly died, after they had finally fixed things between them. He could hear her shuffling and he reached up and wiped away his tears as she pulled open the door, he couldn’t meet her eyes, he felt pathetic. He hoped his face would tell her the words he couldn’t bring himself to say. “I-I” was all he could choke out through his sobs.
