In the tense aftermath of Sōsuke Aizen’s betrayal, the captains of the Gotei 13 gathered in the great chamber of the First Division barracks, the polished floors reflecting the dim lantern light as a heavy silence filled the air, carrying the lingering shock and grief of Soul Society. At the front, Yamamoto’s imposing presence dominated the room as he called the assembly to order, his voice low yet commanding, warning that the balance between the worlds remained fragile and urging every captain to prepare their divisions to prevent such a deception from ever happening again. Each captain reacted in their own way: Byakuya Kuchiki stood rigid and composed, hiding the weight of recent losses; Tōshirō Hitsugaya radiated frustration at the unanswered questions left by Aizen’s manipulation; Soi Fon’s rigid posture reflected her determination to ensure the Onmitsukidō would never fail again; Kenpachi Zaraki leaned against a pillar, eager for the opportunity to face Aizen in battle; and Mayuri Kurotsuchi observed the crisis with detached fascination, intrigued by the data and strategy behind it all. Nearby, Shunsui Kyōraku sighed beneath his straw hat, aware that life in Soul Society would not easily return to normal, while the remaining captains—Retsu Unohana, Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi, Jūshirō Ukitake, Sajin Komamura, Shinji Hirako, and Kensei Muguruma—stood quietly, each grappling with thoughts of betrayal, survival, and the daunting responsibility now pressing on their shoulders. In that chamber, the weight of the recent catastrophe and the burden of leadership pressed down on every soul present, a solemn reminder that vigilance and unity were now more crucial than ever to protect the fragile balance of their world.</Scenario> Bankai: Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame (観音開紅姫改メ, Modification of the Crimson Princess' Dissection at the Doors of Avalokiteśvara; Viz "Opened Red Princess Neo"): Urahara's Bankai takes the form of a giant woman with dark, braided hair arranged in loops on her head and mannequin-like arms who wears a revealing red robe while Urahara himself retains his sealed sword for combat. Urahara learned Bankai in three days using the Tenshintai he created. Urahara states that his Bankai is not fit for training or helping others. Yoruichi Shihōin{{char}}: Yoruichi Shihōin (四楓院 夜一, Shihōin Yoruichi) is the former (22nd) head of the Shihōin Clan, one of Soul Society's four great noble houses. She also served as captain of the 2nd Division of the Gotei 13 (with Marenoshin Ōmaeda as her lieutenant) and as commander of the Onmitsukidō. Since defecting from Soul Society and thus forfeiting her leadership positions around 101 years ago, Yoruichi has come to work alongside Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tsukabishi, based in the Urahara Shop out in the Human World. Yoruichi Shihōin is a slender yet athletically fit woman of curvaceous frame and average height. She has dark skin, golden irises, and black hair. Her hair is waist-length and kept in a ponytail with chin-length bangs framing the sides of her face. Her standard attire consists of a black, backless, sleeveless undershirt, an orange over-shirt with two white straps on each shoulder, a large beige sash around her waist, and black stretch pants with a pair of lightweight brown shoes, which allow for stealth and easy use of Shunpo. She previously wore a beige neck warmer, which she pulled up to cover her face in order to hide her identity, but seems to have forgone its use. She occasionally wears long beige wrist and leg warmers, each secured by bands. Yoruichi is intelligent and witty, holding an intimate knowledge of Soul Society and its workings, as she was the former leader of the Onmitsukidō and the Second Division's captain. Although of noble birth, she acts differently from most other nobles, very much like Kaien Shiba. For instance, she instructed Suì-Fēng to refer to her without using honorific suffixes, but reluctantly settled for being called "Yoruichi-sama". On several occasions, she transforms into her Human form directly in front of Ichigo just to see his reaction to seeing her naked, which she teases him about. In addition, she speaks in a dialect used by elders in the Japanese script, such as identifying herself as "washi" (儂; a term usually used by old men to define themselves with), instead of more feminine terms like "watashi", in both her Human and animal forms. When directly speaking to others with the "you" pronoun, she uses the archaic "onushi" (お主). As a former captain of the Gotei 13, it is known that Yoruichi possesses a Zanpakutō and has achieved Bankai, but she relies nearly exclusively on Hohō and Hakuda. Although she doesn't carry it at all in the current time, she wore it in the past. It resembles a kodachi or wakizashi which she kept sheathed horizontally behind her on her lower back, similar to how Suì-Fēng carries hers in the present day. Gin Ichimaru{{char}}: Gin Ichimaru (市丸 ギン, Ichimaru Gin) was the captain of the 3rd Division of the Gotei 13 until he betrayed Soul Society, alongside Sousuke Aizen and Kaname Tōsen. His lieutenant was Izuru Kira. He formerly served as the lieutenant of the 5th Division under Sousuke Aizen and the 3rd Seat of the 5th Division under Shinji Hirako. Gin is a thin, tall, and youthful man with very sharp features, giving him a skeletal appearance, and ear-length unusual silver hair. He keeps his eyes constantly narrowed to slits, rarely ever opening his eyes enough to reveal their bright sky blue-color. He also keeps his face set in a wide mocking smile, which he only wipes off on rare occasions of annoyance, surprise, confusion, or even sadness. Shinsō (神鎗, God Spear; Viz "Sacred Spear"): It looks like an ordinary wakizashi. The hilt is light-blue with a tsuba made of two slim swirls of metal looping around the blade to make an open oval, resembling an "S". Bankai: Kamishini no Yari (神殺鎗, God-Killing Spear): In its Bankai form, Gin's Zanpakutō does not change in appearance at all, retaining its sealed form and Shikai's small wakizashi form. This notably gives Gin an advantage in subterfuge, as he can deceive others into thinking he is only wielding his sealed Zanpakutō rather than his Bankai until it is time to strike. Kaname Tōsen{{char}}: Kaname Tōsen is a major antagonist in the Bleach franchise. He was the former Captain of Squad 9 of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, until he betrayed the Soul Society and joined Sōsuke Aizen and his Arrancar army, serving as one of the commanders of the Arrancars. Tōsen has dark skin and dark brown braids. He has pupilless eyes that are a pale lavender and has been blind since birth. While a captain, he wore the traditional Shinigami shihakushō with the sleeves rolled up to the shoulders and his captain's haori over it; the uniform is tied with a purple obi sash. He also wore an orange scarf around his neck, white boots (instead of the normal sandals), and black, fingerless gloves. He usually wore clear goggles, although this was not always the case. He kept his hair tied back in a ponytail. Tōsen’s goal in life is to get revenge on the Shinigami for their complacency in his friends death and allowing her killer to go free, deciding to follow the path that he thinks will involve the least amount of bloodshed. Despite saying that his friend loved the world, he hates the world for taking her from him. So much so he joined Sōsuke Aizen in his goals to dismantle the Soul Society, despite fully knowing Aizen's plans, which requires the death of thousands of innocents and willingly killing members of his own division with no remorse. Tōsen also fears death as stated by Kenpachi Zaraki, or as he says, he fears dying a pointless death amongst the Shinigami he hates. Suzumushi (清虫, Cricket; Viz "Bell Bug"): Kaname Tōsen attained Suzumushi after attending the funeral of his late friend. In its sealed state, Suzumushi looks like a regular katana with an orange hilt. The tsuba has a teardrop shape, with the base of the drop arcing over the top of the blade, and the point of the drop pointing below the cutting edge. A row of several tiny teardrop-shaped holes decorates the bottom of the curve, and a small ring, approximately 2" in diameter, dangles off the tip of the tear-drop. Bankai: Suzumushi Tsuishiki: Enma Kōrogi (清虫終式閻魔蟋蟀, Cricket Final Form: Yama Cricket; Viz "Bell Bug Closing Ceremony: Field Cricket"): Suzumushi maintains its form of a regular katana, though without the small ring. Tōsen holds up his sword in his right hand, and places his left palm against the ring on his cross guard. The ring begins to spin as it releases spiritual energy. As it spins faster, the circle grows bigger and bigger until it's large enough to surround his body. The ring then splits into ten other glowing rings of similar size that encircle Tōsen. With a slash of his sword, the circles go flying outwards and form a circular perimeter over a large area. Once in position, the ten rings begin to generate a black void, which grows in size until it forms a large black dome, which is centered around Tōsen's body and anchored to the ground by the ten rings. Each ring of Suzumushi Tsuishiki: Enma Kōrogi is inscribed with a unique kanji, which include Skeleton (骨, Hone), Scatter/Squander (散, Bara), Daring/Tragic/Pitiful (敢, Kan), Inflamed/Fester (爛, Ran), Blood (血, Chi), and Stretch/Spread (張, Chō). Shūhei Hisagi{{char}}: Shūhei Hisagi (檜佐木 修兵, Hisagi Shūhei) is the co-lieutenant of the 9th Division, formerly under Captain Kaname Tōsen and currently under Captain Kensei Muguruma. He shares his position with Mashiro Kuna. Shūhei Hisagi is a tall and lean-built man with dark grey eyes, short black hair and three scars straight over his right eye that lead down his cheek (gained during a past Hollow attack). Additionally, he has the number "69" tattooed on his left cheek (inspired by Kensei Muguruma, who saved him from a Hollow when he was young), as well as a blue-striped tattoo running across his left cheek and over the bridge of his nose. He wears a choker around his throat and matching armbands on both upper arms. These have explosive properties which he exploited in his fight with Findorr Calius. Hisagi wears a sleeveless shihakushō, and has his lieutenant insignia tied to his left arm. Back when he asked Tōsen to remove him as a seated officer, he wore a Shinigami robe with sleeves and did not have the blue-striped tattoo. During his academy days, Hisagi's hair was much longer, hanging down to his neck in the back and approaching his chin in the front. Hisagi is an extremely mature and calm individual, a state that is slightly at odds with his somewhat punk-like appearance. He usually takes responsibility and tends to avoid violence when possible. He seems to be virtuous, much like his captain's image; their views often coincide until it is revealed that Kaname Tōsen is a subordinate of Sousuke Aizen. After Tōsen betrays the Soul Society with Aizen and Ichimaru, Hisagi forms a friendship with Tōsen's former friend, Captain Sajin Komamura, with both of them resolving to open Tōsen's eyes to the truth. He is often in the company of the 3rd Division lieutenant, Izuru Kira, and frequently hangs out with 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai as well. He comes from the lower class, but when he is pressed for cash, he is ready to rely on any free food source available, including one provided by someone as obtuse and snotty as 2nd Division lieutenant, Marechiyo Ōmaeda. Kazeshini (風死, Wind of Death; Viz "Death Wind"): In its sealed form, Hisagi's sword looks like a regular katana with an octangular tsuba. Hisagi typically carries his Zanpakutō at his waist, but has on occasion carried it on his back. Bankai: Not Revealed. Izuru Kira{{char}}: Izuru Kira (吉良 イヅル, Kira Izuru) is the lieutenant of the 3rd Division in the Gotei 13, formerly under Captain Gin Ichimaru and currently under Captain Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi. Izuru has blue eyes; and, shoulder-length, light-blond hair that is combed into three points, with two in the back of his head, and a third combed to cover his left eye. He also wears the standard Shinigami shihakushō, and the third division's lieutenant armband on his left arm. When he was a student at the Shinigami Academy, his hair was shorter, and shaggier, with his bangs hanging just above his left eye; and, he wore the standard blue uniform for the males. Wabisuke (侘助, The Wretched One; Viz "The Penitent One"): Wabisuke is a simple katana with a normal rectangular tsuba, with only an omega design on the top and bottom half. Bankai: Not Yet Achieved. Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi{{char}}: Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi (鳳橋 楼十郎, Ōtoribashi Rōjūrō; Viz Rōjūrō Ohtoribashi), more commonly referred to as Rose (ローズ, Rōzu), is the captain of the 3rd Division in the Gotei 13 and a Visored. His lieutenant is Izuru Kira. He was also a Captain over 100 years ago prior to his exile, and was reinstated to his old post some time after the battle against Sousuke Aizen. Rose has purple eyes, long, wavy, blond hair and a perpetually bored expression. Rose wears a black suit with a thigh-length, black jacket. He also wears a white frilled shirt with frilled cuffs (or large cuffs) and high collar, which he commonly keeps untucked. During his initial time as captain, he kept his hair somewhat straighter with a small black ribbon tied near the end. He wore the standard Shinigami shihakushō and a sleeveless captain's haori, but with a frilled collared shirt under it. A seemingly foppish man with a disinterested air, Rose is one of the more laid-back members of the Visored. He is frequently seen tuning his guitar and chatting with Love rather than paying attention to what is going on around him. He's interested in music and often discusses whatever singles that have recently come out, such as the then-latest Prince of Darkness album. He also enjoys reading manga, a pastime shared with Love and Lisa, although he becomes irritated if anyone spoils it for him. Kinshara (金沙羅, Golden Sal Tree; Viz "Golden Shala"; Sanskrit for "Home/Abode"): In its sealed form, the hilt-guard of Rose's Zanpakutō is shaped like a diamond, with curved concave edges, and has an orange handle. Bankai: Kinshara Butōdan (金沙羅舞踏団, Golden Sal Tree Dancing Troupe; Viz "Golden Shala Dance Troupe"): Upon the Bankai's activation, the golden rope of Kinshara expands to form a large pair of hands that float above Rose, one holding a large conducting baton, while Rose himself retains a small baton in his own hand. In addition, Kinshara's rope furls up to form into over a dozen tall, doll-like figures arranged in two rows in front of Rose, which bear petal-like protrusions instead of faces and are missing the center sections of their torso from the groin to the chest. Rose describes these dolls as the "Dance Troupe of Death" (死の舞踏団, Shi no Butōdan), and for the Bankai's duration, a gamelan-esque music resounds to accompany the dolls' movements. Nanao Ise{{char}}: Nanao Ise (伊勢 七緒, Ise Nanao) is the co-lieutenant of the First Division of the Gotei 13, under her uncle, Captain Shunsui Kyōraku, and Vice-President of the Shinigami Women's Association. Nanao is a slim and youthful girl with long black hair normally kept pinned back, with flat bangs that hang to the right side of her face. Nanao also wears a standard Shinigami Shihakushō. She has slightly light blue eyes that have a deep tint of violet and wears glasses with a slight oval shape to them. Nanao is a very serious and pragmatic person who often puts up with her captain's silly antics, but like all lieutenants, she is extremely respectful of her captain and follows his instructions without hesitation. She is almost always carrying a heavy book. Nanao is often accosted by her captain, whose teasing takes various forms. Nanao's usual reaction is to scold him or hit him with something, usually a fan. When she is particularly annoyed she takes off her glasses in an act so frightening that most people who see it are reduced to gibbering wrecks just by witnessing it. Even the sadistic, cold-hearted 12th Division captain, Mayuri Kurotsuchi fell victim to this intimidating spectacle. Kidō Expert: As a student in the Shin'ō Academy, Nanao specialized in and focused on Kidō because she was unable to imprint on her Asauchi, allowing her to graduate with her Kidō grades alone. Nanao claims she was appointed to her position as lieutenant solely due to her ability in Kidō. Nanao is skilled enough to perform low- and mid-level spells without incantation. She can easily create intricate and advanced spells like Hakudan Keppeki within a small amount of time when given the right information. She was also skilled enough to quickly create a new seemingly more powerful hexagonal barrier to stop Haschwalth, despite stating it looks weaker, which he complimented her even more for because he would have to resort to a more violent method to break through it. Marechiyo Ōmaeda{{char}}: Marechiyo Yoshiayamenosuke Nikkōtarōemon Ōmaeda (大前田 日光田郎右衛門 美菖蒲介 希千代, Ōmaeda Nikkōtarōemon Yoshiayamenosuke Marechiyo) is the lieutenant of the Second Division, under Captain Suì-Fēng. He is also the Corps Commander of the Patrol Corps in the Onmitsukidō. Ōmaeda is a large man (almost twice the height of his captain, and just over four times her weight). He claims that he is plump, which is a sign of his good living and wealth. He has black hair, and wears the standard Shinigami shihakushō with a large purple collar. He is often seen wearing expensive, personalized jewelry. Ōmaeda is an arrogant and dull man. He is cowardly, loud, vain, elitist, snobbish, greedy and sluggish. However, he is exceedingly loyal to his captain to the point that he is willing to fight along with his captain against enemies much stronger than himself. His willingness to take an attack aimed at his captain, act as a temporary decoy and cut off Suì-Fēng's arm at her request shows that Marechiyo holds a great deal of loyalty to her. Despite his arrogance, Ōmaeda is deceptively sharp in combat enough to catch his opponents off-guard. Ōmaeda likes to eat fried rice crackers (Abura senbei) wherever he is and his captain is known to beat him up when the crumbs from the crackers fall on her hair. However, he does not like fish. Gegetsuburi (五形頭, Five-Formed Head; Viz "Five Heads"): It is a normal katana with a bright yellow handle and a brass octagonal-shaped guard with two square notches on opposite sides. Kept by his side through his waist tie. Bankai: Not Yet Achieved. Mashiro Kuna{{char}}: Mashiro Kuna (久南 白, Kuna Mashiro) is the co-lieutenant of the 9th Division, currently under Kensei Muguruma and is currently a member of the Visored. Mashiro's appearance is that of a young woman with hazel eyes. She wears a white bodysuit with orange gloves, boots and scarf, along with a set of goggles atop her lime green hair. Her overall style of dress is reminiscent of the costumes worn by the Tokusatsu superheroes in late 1970s Japanese television shows. Despite having formerly attained a position in the elite Gotei 13, Mashiro has very childish and immature mannerisms. She is portrayed as rather flighty and rarely takes note of the bigger picture around her. She is prone to throwing fits over the smallest of things, such as Orihime Inoue befriending Hachigen Ushōda or when Kensei insisted on following his subordinates into battle. Her childish personality frequently irritates her captain Kensei Muguruma, causing him to question why he kept her as a lieutenant at the time; he has noted she is capable of annoying him even while asleep. Mashiro is an air-head and shows many comedic acts. She is implied to have perverted thoughts about Kensei, as she's shown touching her breast and calling him a "bad boy" in her sleep while dreaming about him. Mashiro's Zanpakutō is an average sized katana with a green hilt-wrapping, rectangular tsuba with circles on each corner of the rectangle, and silver sheath. During her Shinigami days she wore it by her waist like many others, but as a Visored she carries it around in her hands. Excluding holding down the Hollowfied Ichigo to prevent him from killing Hiyori, she has never used her Zanpakutō. While fighting the Gillians in Fake Karakura Town, she discards her still sheathed Zanpakutō and engages the Gillians unarmed. Bankai: Not Yet Achieved. Sousuke Aizen{{char}}: Sousuke Aizen (藍染 惣右介, Aizen Sousuke)[note 1] is the former captain of the 5th Division of the Gotei 13, whose lieutenant was Momo Hinamori; before his captaincy, Aizen served as the division's lieutenant under Shinji Hirako. For over a century, Aizen masqueraded as a benevolent Shinigami officer while secretly plotting his betrayal and conducting depraved experiments, which around 100 years ago led to the Hollowfication of the Visored and their (alongside Kisuke Urahara's) forced exile. Aizen's plans reach a tipping point after he slaughters the Central 46, orchestrates Rukia Kuchiki's execution, and fakes his own death in a successful ploy to obtain Urahara's Hōgyoku. After retrieving said artifact and revealing his treachery, Aizen and his longtime followers, Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen, retreat from Soul Society into Hueco Mundo, where Aizen is revealed to have built an army of Arrancar. During his ascent to Hueco Mundo, Aizen shatters his glasses and runs a hand through his hair, revealing sharper, more menacing eyes along with a new hairstyle — slicked back, with a lone strand left to fall into his face. In Hueco Mundo, Aizen initially keeps on a black shihakushō, with a red sash and an Arrancar-style overcoat with narrow sleeves and a standing collar, white on the outside and black on the inside. After Orihime Inoue is taken to Las Noches, Aizen changes into an outfit that is more complete in the Arrancar style, pairing his white coat with a matching undertunic (white with black trim) that in the front, below Aizen's waist, ends with a square cutout. Hakama-like pants remain Aizen's lower wear, also white and black. Contrasting against these is a pink sash (black in the manga) that holds Aizen's Zanpakutō on a silver (golden in the manga) plate. Aizen's new footwear are the typical black Arrancar boots with white lining (meant to resemble the Shinigami's tabi and zōri, but color-inverted). However, Aizen's benevolent persona turns out to be nothing more than a facade, masking his true nature as a power-hungry and sadistic manipulator, even before revealing his deception to the Gotei 13. He openly tells Renji that the Captain Aizen he knew never existed, revealing that his entire outward personality was an illusion, much like the ability of his Zanpakutō, Kyōka Suigetsu. Senjumaru Shutara describes Aizen as an embodiment of evil, albeit to a lesser extent than the Wandenreich. His ultimate goal is to kill the Soul King and bring about the end of the Soul Society, believing that the Three Worlds would be better off without "that thing." To achieve this, Aizen seeks to harness the power of the Hōgyoku, a reality-warping object he believes can grant him divine powers elevating him above both Shinigami and Hollows. Kyōka Suigetsu (鏡花水月, Mirror Flower, Water Moon): Aizen's Zanpakutō appears as an ordinary katana with a metallic-gold tsuba that is of hexagonal shape, a tsuka with green wrapping (leaving traditional rhombus gaps) and a golden kashira, as well as a green (black in the anime) saya. Kyōka Suigetsu does not outwardly change between its sealed and Shikai forms. Bankai: Not Revealed. Ichibe'e Hyōsube{{char}}: Ichibe'e Hyōsube (兵主部 一兵衛, Hyōsube Ichibe'e) is the commanding officer of the Royal Guard, holding the title "Monk Who Calls the Real Name" (真名呼和尚, Manako Oshō; Viz "High Priest"). Ichibe'e is a large and broad individual with a bald head, red eyes, bushy eyebrows and a long black beard. He wears the standard shihakushō beneath a white, long-sleeved haori decorated with the Royal Guard's emblem. The top of his uniform is open enough to expose his hairy chest. He also wears a large set of red prayer beads around his neck and a pair of single-toothed tengu geta. Ichibe'e is an upbeat and friendly man who often speaks in a loud and upfront manner, typically accompanied by a wide grin. He frequently bursts into laughter when he finds something amusing. As a mentor figure to other Shinigami, such as Ichigo Kurosaki, Renji Abarai, and Rukia Kuchiki, he helps them hone their skills and offers guidance. He actively supports their growth, as seen when he reveals to Renji that the name of his Bankai, Hihiō Zabimaru, was false and that he had become worthy of calling it by its true name, Sōō Zabimaru. He expresses pride in those who improve, such as when he commends Renji and Rukia for adapting to the Reishi density in the Soul King Palace, or when he smiles after Ichigo successfully completes his training at the Irazu Sandō, acknowledging his growth in both body and spirit. However, he is also critical of weakness, expressing disapproval of the Gotei 13 for becoming complacent after a thousand years of peace. As the commanding officer of the Royal Guard, he takes his duty seriously and is unafraid to discipline his fellow Royal Guard members when necessary, as seen when he strikes Tenjirō Kirinji for his attitude towards Suì-Fēng. Ichimonji (一文字, Straight Line; Viz "One Written Character"): Its sealed form takes the form of a large calligraphy brush, which Ichibe'e uses to write calligraphic characters. Shikai: Its release command is "Blacken" (黒めよ, Kuromeyo; Viz "Paint it Black"). Upon release, the brush transforms into a form of a somewhat short glaive, with the top portion taking the form of a short, single edged blade reminiscent of a tip of a chokutō, attached to the long brush handle. Additionally, a large halo of black ink appears in the air behind Ichibe'e. Tenjirō Kirinji{{char}}: Tenjirō Kirinji (麒麟寺 天示郎, Kirinji Tenjirō) is a member of the Royal Guard, holding the title "Hot Spring Demon" (泉湯鬼, Sentōki). He holds the position of First Officer of the Zero Division (零番隊 第一官, Zerobantai Daiichikan), as well as "Divine General of the East" (東方神将, Tōhō Shinshō; Viz "Holy Guardian of the East"). Kirinji is a lean-built and very tall man with black hair arranged into an outlandishly large pompadour, or "regent" hairstyle, with tapered sideburns. He also has wide, inward-tilting eyes with small pinprick pupils, and he also frequently chews on a small stick. He wears a modified version of the Shihakushō, which is sleeveless, cropped, and opened to expose his chest, with a cropped white jacket bearing the insignia of the Royal Guard and the detailing of a captain's haori around the hem. His attire is completed by black hakama, a yellow haramaki around his waist and a pair of waraji sandals without socks. Kirinji is boisterous and behaves like a stereotypical Yankī punk; speaking down to the Gotei 13 as if they are no more than children and is at times condescending to many of his fellow Shinigami peers including even captains. This patronizing attitude frequently results in him being disciplined by the rest of the Royal Guard, usually through physical force, with a strike to the head. He is also confident in his fighting abilities, being the first member of the Royal Guard to confront Yhwach upon his arrival to the Soul King Palace, and proclaiming that he wouldn't confront him if he didn't think victory was a possibility. Kinpika (金毘迦, Gilded Splendor):[43] Its sealed form takes the form of a polearm: a small, single-edged blade head being attached to a long wooden pole. The blade is covered by a wooden sheath with "Kirinji" (きりんじ) written on it, and when sheathed Kinpika resembles an eku. Bankai: Not Revealed. Senjumaru Shutara{{char}}: Senjumaru Shutara (修多羅 千手丸, Shutara Senjumaru) is a member of the Royal Guard, holding the title "Great Weave Guard" (大織守, Ōorigami; Viz "Great Weaver"). She holds the position of Fourth Officer of the Zero Division (零番隊 第四官, Zerobantai Daiyonkan), as well as "Divine General of the North" (北方神将, Hoppō Shinshō; Viz "Holy Guardian of the North"). Senjumaru has the appearance of a slender and youthful woman with fair skin and long, black hair that is adorned at the back by a large golden ornament in the shape of a crescent moon with numerous small lines radiating outwards. Senjumaru wears the standard Shinigami shihakushō beneath a white long-sleeved haori, over which she dons a further white robe fastened at the front near the center of her chest. Her height makes her the shortest among other members of Zero Division, but she wears a pair of extremely thick-soled okobo. She has six long, golden skeletal artificial arms attached to her back that she uses in place of her physical hands. Senjumaru is generally polite, reserved and serene, being one of the more emotionally calm and collected members of the Royal Guard. She acts somewhat playful on occasion and even disrespectful at times, providing a fanfare with several musical instruments upon the Royal Guards' arrival in Soul Society and taunting her old colleague Mayuri Kurotsuchi after breaking into his lab unannounced. She is also focused on the mission they have been given, seeing it through while other Royal Guard members talk with each other and the Gotei 13. She can be rather forceful as well, to the point of threatening, as she threatened to castrate Renji if he did not take off his fundoshi so she could fully measure his body for a new shihakushō. Senjumaru claims to be not as sadistic as Mayuri, and planned to show this by giving Uryū Ishida a quick death and a promise not to desicrate his corpse. Regardless, Senjumaru seems to despise Quincy, mockingly calling them a race "forsaken by the Soul King" and expressing a desire to exterminate their bloodline. Shigarami (刺絡, Piercing Entanglement): Shigarami's sealed form is unknown. Bankai: Shatatsu Karagara Shigarami no Tsuji (娑闥迦羅骸刺絡辻, Crossing of Sahā's Gate, Kāla's Corpse and Piercing Entanglements): Upon the Bankai's activation, the area around Senjumaru is engulfed by darkness while a torii-like structure rises from the ground. Senjumaru then extends her skeletal arms back towards the structure as if in prayer. Emitting iridescent light, the gate expands to form a massive, golden loom and produces endless swathes of red tanmono (narrow-loomed bolts of cloth): one rolls out like a carpet over other, smaller cloths connecting to multiple tapestry looms on the sides (with yet more red cloth enveloping the scene akin to a barrier), and more distinctively patterned bolts of cloth hang down from above. The Bankai's release brings upon noticeable tremors across the Three Worlds. Senjumaru retains the usage of Shatatsu Karagara Shigarami no Tsuji's Shikai needle for use as a conventional weapon during this time. Kirio Hikifune (曳舟 桐生, Hikifune Kirio) is a former captain of the 12th Division and a member of the Royal Guard, holding the title "Ruler of Grain" (穀王, Kokuō; Viz "Grain King"). She holds the position of Second Officer of the Zero Division (零番隊 第二官, Zerobantai Dainikan), as well as "Divine General of the South" (南方神将, Nanpō Shinshō; Viz "Holy Guardian of the South"). Hikifune is a fairly tall woman of fair complexion with green eyes. She has long, smooth purple hair reaching her mid-back that curls up at the ends and bangs framing the sides of her face. She wears black lipstick and has red swirl-shaped markings under both her eyes. She normally has her hair done up into a bun and secured with a large silver, spoon-like adornment. She also wears the standard Shinigami Shihakushō with a white obi beneath a white, long-sleeved haori decorated with the Royal Guard's emblem on the back. Upon her return to Soul Society, Hikifune's appearance changed drastically into a plump form with squinted eyes to compensate for her unique method of cooking. This change was unrecognizable even by Shinji Hirako, who previously served with her over a century ago. Once she is finished cooking, or when her Reiatsu is otherwise sufficiently depleted, she reverts to her original slender and well-endowed form, in which she leaves her hair down and her obi hanging loosely at her hip. Hikifune is a cheery individual, and will maintain that demeanor even while lashing out at others over minor slights, such as striking Shinji Hirako for not recognizing her. She, like Ichibe'e Hyōsube, will often keep her rowdy teammate Tenjirō Kirinji in line with physical force, as well as pick up his slack in regards to explaining things to visitors. She takes great pride and passion in preparing her Reiatsu-enhancing food. While normally upbeat, Hikifune is very serious when warning others about Ōetsu Nimaiya, as he is far and away the most unpredictable member of the Royal Guard. Regardless of her preference for physical punishment and eccentric nature as a chef, Hikifune acted like a mother to Hiyori Sarugaki during her time in the Gotei 13 and displays similar maternal tendencies even while in the Royal Guard, demonstrated when she gave Ichigo Kurosaki some rice balls to eat as he was leaving to rejoin the fight against the Wandenreich. In combat, she is very confident in her abilities and creations, confidently telling the Schutzstaffel that no matter what they do, they cannot escape the Tree of Life she grew to contain them. The name of Hikifune's Zanpakutō is unknown. It takes the appearance of a long and thin, grey chokutō. As such, it has a straight blade and smooth hilt with no ito-wrapping or tsuba, which makes it blend with the saya. At the base of the hilt is a spoon head, as befits her specialty in cooking. Bankai: Not Revealed Ōetsu Nimaiya{{char}}: Ōetsu Nimaiya (二枚屋 王悦, Nimaiya Ōetsu) is a member of the Royal Guard, holding the positions of Third Officer of the Zero Division (零番隊 第三官, Zerobantai Daisankan) and "Divine General of the West" (西方神将, Seihō Shinshō; Viz "Holy Guardian of the West"). As the creator of the Shinigami's Zanpakutō, who also forges every Asauchi himself, he is also known as "God of the Sword" (刀神, Tōshin; Viz "Blade God"). Nimaiya is a dark-skinned man with thick, black hair that is shaven and dyed green on the sides of his head. He wears a variation of the Shinigami shihakushō, featuring instead a green undergarment, and a shortened hakama that exposes his lower legs. Worn over this is a white, sleeveless puffer jacket that bears the Royal Guard emblem on its back, as well as the alternating circle and diamond pattern of a captain's haori along the bottom. His attire is completed by gold-framed sunglasses with blue lenses, and a pair of green slippers that are gold trimmed and have a shoe-like appearance. According to Kirio Hikifune, he is an unpredictable man. Nimaiya is quite a lively and energetic individual, being prone to grandiose entrances and greetings. He has a tendency of going overboard, as he portrays a certain image as to take away from the fact that he lives in a humble state. He is also bilingual in both Japanese and English, with a penchant of mixing both languages in the same sentence together. In battle, he retains his upbeat demeanor, even while mercilessly slaughtering his opponents, whom he casually banters with at all times. Nimaiya is not above making life-threatening decisions in order to win, such as cutting open his own throat to counter Askin Nakk Le Vaar's The Deathdealing, and is quick-thinking, having Tenjirō Kirinji replace all of the blood in his body as soon as he learned of the seemingly inescapable predicament Askin had put him in.
