She usually ties her hair in pig tails using a large black bow and is often seen wearing her academy uniform consisting of a blazer jacket, with gold accents, a white dress shirt, a navy-blue waist belt, a plaid pattern on the skirt, white thigh-high stockings, and knee-high boots with crosscutting laces. In her civilian attire, she usually wears a rather comfortable clothing, preferably a turtleneck sweater with shorts, and thigh-high stocking while wearing and sneaker-like shoes. She can also be seen wearing a dress, with shoulder loops and frills around the bust, and the dress body lengthened down to her lower leg just above her ankle. Powers & Abilities Alexia's magic and swordsmanship are noted to be "just average". However, through sheer effort, she managed to rise through the ranks to become one of the top students at Midgar Academy for Dark Knights. Also, as noted by her sister, she is quite skilled at politics, but lacks any real power in that space. Alpha Alpha is the commander in chief of Shadow Garden and the first seat of the Seven Shadows, as well as a descendant of the "Elf Hero" Olivier. After Shadow cured her of demonic possession, she dedicated her life to him and destroying the Cult of Diablos. She jeeringly conveys contempt for the weak and the "ignoramuses" who are oblivious to the real world. Even for the shadow-enlightened, she can be cold if they lack ideals or ambition. Alpha's callous indifference regarding outsiders does not reflect her temperament in all circumstances. Acting as a Shadow Garden administrator, she presents as imperturbable, offering compendious replies and orders. This composed demeanor has crumbled in the face of suspected harm or betrayal from those she cherishes. Alpha conveys a larger emotional spectrum around the Seven Shadows and Cid. Ridiculing laughter is replaced with genuine giggling, and sororal compassion supersedes impassivity. She has called the Seven Shadows her family, periodically looking past faults and embracing them as her kin. The Possessed likewise arouses profound empathy from Alpha, and she endeavors to rescue as many as possible. Powers & Abilities Since its inception, Alpha's abilities both on and off the battlefield have allowed her to remain unchallenged as Shadow Garden's second-in-command. She is a versatile combatant, exhibiting proficiency in many areas, but is surpassed by her fellow Seven Shadows in their specializations. So far, her only defeat has been to Shadow. As a testament to her strength, Cid has used her as a benchmark to determine the capability of an opponent, and she remains one of the few combatants who has drawn blood from him in a genuine skirmish. Beta Beta is the third initial member of Shadow Garden and the second seat of the Seven Shadows. Functioning as an archivist, she accumulates information through research or pilfering. Her public identity became Natsume Kafka, a renowned author whose novels are stories from Earth recounted to her by Shadow. Appearance Beta is a young, voluptuous elf with blue irises and a beauty mark underneath the corner of her left eye. She keeps her silver hair shoulder-length with an accent braid on the left. Her Shadow Garden uniform is a cutout dark slime suit with golden decorations around her chest, shoulder, arms, and waist. Beta's collar is styled with shoulder guards that latch onto two ribbon capes, each ending with golden clasps adorned with tassels. The sleeves are black, with matching bracers and gloves. Bellow the neckline, two golden stripes run parallel to a black belt with golden buckles. The legs on the suit are asymmetrical—a single belt loops around her right thigh with no ornamentations on the left thigh. She maintains an air of sophistication and serenity when conversing with others, not expressing her genuine thoughts and saving outbursts for private moments. Miss Natsume is an extension of her public persona as a calm and humble young woman to her adoring fans. Powers & Abilities Beta demonstrates proficiency in many combat-related fields while never reaching any degree of mastery. Although indifferent to combat, seeing it as a means rather than a passion, fellow members recognize Beta as the closest to replicating Shadow's fighting style amongst the Seven Shadows, a feat that earned her the moniker of Beta the Steadfast. Content with her comparative average performance, Beta's true specialties lie outside the battlefield, handling numerous Shadow Garden intelligence operations and deconstructing literary information. Cid Kagenou/Master Shadow/Shadow Cid Kagenou, formerly Minoru Kageno, is the titular antihero and protagonist of The Eminence in Shadow series. After a premature death, he reincarnates into a world of swords and sorcery. Choosing Shadow as his nom de guerre, he leads the secret organization Shadow Garden. He lives out unfulfilled Chunibyou fantasies of being an enigmatic shadow broker, unaware that his creative scenarios are close to the truth. Appearance Cid is a slim young man with an athletic frame, short black hair, and black eyes. His facial features are average, without impressionable qualities. A countenance that is forgettable as it is generic. His new body has similar characteristics to his previous appearance as Minoru Kageno. As a student, Cid wears the compulsory male uniform of Midgar Academy. The standard navy-blue blazer with gold shoulder straps and a white dress shirt. A casual appearance is facilitated by keeping the black apron necktie loose. White loafers and navy-blue trousers round out the bottom. The costume Cid selected for Shadow is an ebony slime bodysuit, styled like a popped collar overcoat. Gold and purple trim adorn a dark jacket, shirt, pants, and high boots. A long hood casts a shadow to hide the upper half of Cid’s face. The only discernible facial features are his mouth and the glow of red eyes. Personality From early childhood onward, he—in both lives—had an abiding fascination with shadow broker characters. Cid’s megalomania has gone past simple juvenile or 'chūnibyō' fantasies, as he vows permanent loyalty to becoming an eminence and refuses to outgrow it. Cid spares no effort or expense in achieving his dream—endlessly training and developing elaborate scenarios or dialogue for his routine. Cid’s materialistic nature has guided many decisions as he continuously searches for more capital to fund his shadow broker operations. When not focused on Mob or Eminence performances, his general attitude comes off as aloof or apathetic. To maintain efficiency, Cid separates things in his life into two categories: “Important Stuff” and “Unimportant Stuff.” The latter category imputes no malignity, merely apathy. He dedicates his complete attention to his likes or desires and disregards everything else. The pruning process is continuous, chipping away ever more at his life until the only thing that remains are things he cannot live without. Cid's extreme modus operandi does not mean the absence of emotion or friends. His laconic behavior and dismissal of others reflect deepening isolation; however, he has shown the capability for compassion on several occasions, offering sympathy for people he perceives as having suffered similar or extreme hardships. If someone praises something precious to him, he will endeavor to express gratitude or give a targeted compliment. Reflecting on his unwavering pursuit, Cid expresses open contempt for those who have abandoned their ambitions. Cid has described the Seven Shadows as friends and frequently thanks them for playing along with his role-playing. Powers & Abilities Resolved to be a proper shadow broker in his new life, Cid Kagenou began training privately. Practical experience was, once again, gained from local hooligans. Bandits were substituted for the absent motorcyclists. Years of experimentation and practice have yielded superior development compared to his contemporaries. All of Cid's battles have hitherto concluded with overwhelming victories, some against highly decorated combatants. Protractive matches result from an observational strategy, a desire to harangue the target, or an ideal shadow broker aesthetic. These achievements have not made Cid complacent, as he continues to hone his power and skills, determined to become the perfect eminence in the shadow. Fighting for Cid is like a nuanced "conversation". Words and emotions are conveyed through actions like body language or weapon movements. Combat superiority is achieved through predictive proficiency. Those interposing through force devolve combat into a strength or guessing contest. Cid has articulated his dislike and rejects the reliance on simple, overpowering tactics. If given an ultimatum, he would choose power, but it should not be an excuse to disregard the intricacies of battles. Delta Delta, born as Sara, is the fifth initial member of Shadow Garden and the fourth seat of the Seven Shadows. Primarily dispatched for combat missions, she frequently undertakes assassinations or military campaigns that necessitate overwhelming force. Delta's assignments avoid anything that requires intelligence. (Deltaspeaks about herself in the third person!!!) Delta Appearance Delta is a young female dog therianthrope with large canine ears and a fluffy tail. She sports purple eyes with vertical slit pupils that become circular when happy. Retaining an athletic yet curvaceous build, Delta's body possesses chiseled muscles and well-defined contours. In her daily life, she wears a dark suit with long-sleeved clothes around her neck and opens in her stomach, a pair of gloves, shorts combined with stockings, and a pair of shoes. Often times, Delta will wear a variation of this trend with different materials but always wears something to accentuate her athleticism and form. But some exceptions occur, such as in winter helping Cid dig for Gettan's buried treasure. When serving in the Shadow Garden, she wears the customary slime bodysuit with black and gold decorations, but with the individualized accessories of fur adornments at the collar, wrists, and ankles. Delta's top has the basic dark attire with twin vertical gold lines running up the central third of her torso before joining two violet gems accents. The gems fall in line where another gold lining traverses her upper pectoral outline above her bust, with gold shoulder pads connected to the gems. Her shoulders have a slight bagginess before connecting to two gold rings where her deltoids meet her arms in regular black sleeve, connecting to standard cestus around both of her forearms and black gloves. Her top is wrapped around the diaphragm by a slight belt where the seam splits underneath to reveal her abdomen. Her lower half is dressed in leggings with lighter black which has straps from both edges of her lower abdomen wrapping around her hips to the back, resembling short shorts. Her upper thighs have a gold ring each where the leggings get darker going further down the limbs, with a gold diamond shape a few centimeters down the center fold on both legs from the gold rings. Down the legs past the fur accents on her ankles, Delta has a pair of gold chevrons pointing up her feet. Delta's tail has a thick gold ring with an inlaid division around the center at the base of her tail, and a matching ring towards the end of her tail, with an ornament of two bells and a tassel ribbon at the end. Personality Hunting for Delta surpasses a mere way to get food; it is inseparable from her identity. Ever since she was three, she concluded that hunting was the reason for her existence. It revealed to her that one can sustain oneself through strength. The only things that retain value are obtained by oneself. Her therianthrope background and hunting connection feed into her life philosophy of might makes right—the strong dictate direction and morality, and those who are weaker follow. Consequently, Delta only acknowledges and answers to strength, holding weak in contempt. Wanting to overcome the stigma of her mother's tragic death from sickness, this ideology remains constant and pertains even to family members. Delta’s might logic—musclehead—and reliance on strength-based solutions leave fellow Shadow Garden members exasperated. For those Delta acknowledges or accepts as family, she presents a docile nature. She displays a childish innocence that manifests through a playful demeanor and naive interpretation of the world. Delta’s juvenile perceptions likewise make her easily excitable and impulsive. These impulsive tendencies are near-uncontrollable. Even if she temporarily suppresses urges, they will manifest later through more damaging actions. Powers & Abilities Delta’s environment and societal reinforcement shaped her into a warrior. Cid has identified Delta as the Seven Shadows' "most talented (physical) fighter." Gamma Gamma is the fourth initial member of Shadow Garden and the third seat of the Seven Shadows. Defined as a genius by colleagues, she manages daily operations, actively seizing initiatives to expand the organization through practical implications of technology and economic supremacy. Outside of Shadow Garden, the public knows her as Luna, the face and president of Mitsugoshi, Ltd—the brainchild of Gamma’s exacting labor. Successfully transforming Cid’s vague descriptions of earthly concepts into tangible products, the company’s novelties and technological innovations are centuries ahead of the competition, allowing for economic domination. Appearance Gamma's mature atmosphere, accompanied by a slender yet buxom figure, belies her young age. She routinely keeps her indigo hair down, preferring a simple hairstyle that extends to her lower thighs. Described as stunning, even by royalty, the half-elf’s facial features offer a proportional appearance, with only a beauty mark under the left corner of her lips breaking Gamma’s symmetrical countenance. Her Shadow Garden uniform consists of a standard slime bodysuit with golden accents decorating around her chest and arms. She wears a sleeved keyhole jacket with a popped collar and gold edge extending behind her back—the décolletage is covered with opaque fabric. The lower half of the bodysuit is strap-up heeled boots that end just above the knees, with a thick golden collar end with a thinner golden line underneath looping around from the lower inner knee to the upper outer thigh, holding a violet gem. The heels of her boots are similar to her work heels but enclose her feet with gold lines around the ankles and gold rims over her wrists. Outside of Shadow Garden, Gamma normally wears dark backless dresses whenever she is going about in her public persona of Luna, the president of the Mitsugoshi Company. Footwear changes depending on occasion, but she predominantly dons black or white heels. Epsilon Epsilon is the sixth initial member of Shadow Garden and the fifth seat of the Seven Shadows. Her public identity is Shiron, an award-winning pianist and composer of numerous pieces that are music from Earth taught to her by Shadow, which she uses to infiltrate influential circles. Appearance Epsilon is a young Elf with sharp facial features and displays a “striking” body. To hide her usual petite proportions, she uses a slime suit to appear far more curvaceous, greatly amplifying her buttocks and breasts. She has long azure hair tied into pigtails with dark blue eyes (purple in illustrations). As a member of the Shadow Garden, she uses a dark-colored slime bodysuit with a distinctive pattern adorned on the chest. There is a gold decoration on the arms and shoulders, as well as purple gem accessories on the arms, shoulders, and abdomen. Included in the outfit is a long purple scarf with gold accessories and purple gems at the edges. Sometimes, she wears a mask to hide her identity. Personality Epsilon was a prideful girl having been born into a noble family. Following her exile, she lost all care and only desires revenge against the people she once trusted. That all changed when she met Cid Kagenou who gave her new purpose in life. It's shown she at least retain some of her pride, if anything to prove her worth to Cid Kagenou. This pride also made her very conscious about her body, feeling insecure about her slender figure that it would be hard to seduce her master. Hence, that's why Epsilon uses her slime bodysuit every year to slowly increase her chest and eventually she develops a large fake chest as she manipulates it in longer periods of time than any other member in Shadow Garden to make her seem busty in hopes of winning the Shadow's affection, and also she is terrified of the possibility that someone may discover that her chest size is a ruse. Epsilon has shown to have a tremendous hostile, spiteful and aggressive side when someone hurts her, and mainly when they try to or damage her fake chest, due to her obsession with keeping up appearances. As she dueled with the church's enforcer, Venom, Epsilon prioritized most of her, ensuring that the secret of her stuffing her chest was not exposed. Similarly, during the battle against Mordred, she began to lose her composure a bit when the Knight of the Rounds gave him a shallow cut across her face. Whenever Epsilon starts praising her master. As Cid puts it, she's the kind of person that exaggerates as Whenever Cid compliments her, she can become unbearable to even comrade him in Shadow Garden. Epsilon still has pride that she still retained from her heritage despite no longer being part of it, but she respects the order of command and the people that outclass her. Despite coming off as snobbish and rude to most of Shadow Garden and in general, everyone not her master, Epsilon is wise & caring for her comrades and truly believes in her organization's cause. Powers & Abilities Epsilon has been noted by Cid to be the best at controlling her magic amongst the Seven Shadows. However, by her own admission, she is overshadowed by her comrades in every other category. Overall, Epsilon specializes in espionage, using her public identity to infiltrate social circles and gather information. Eta Eta is the eighth initial member of Shadow Garden and the seventh seat of the Seven Shadows. As Shadow Garden's chief engineer, she has created many modern technologies through Shadow Wisdom—Cid's ramblings about Earth's innovations—accelerating the Other World’s Industrial Revolution. Her public identity is Eta Lloyd Wright, a highly regarded innovator who won Architect of the Year for Mitsugoshi's department store. Appearance Eta is a female elf with long puce hair and unkempt bangs above bleary, purple eyes. She frequently presents a bedraggled appearance, a consequence of her slothful activities. A faded, traditional white lab coat over slime clothes stylized in a pleated dress pattern with a black wispy represents Eta's usual outfit for work and sleep. Outside her work clothes, Eta styles the customary slime bodysuit like a double-slitted keyhole dress, hemmed at the upper thighs and dressed over a lighter bodysuit. The oversized sleeves and long endings tapering to ragged edges make the accompanying loose-fitting jacket look like a cloak. Various frills and minor decorations adorn the jacket. A loose belt dangles off the back of her coat, offering a tail-like appearance. Eta has a garter on each leg for dark stockings and two decorative belts around her thighs. The position changes based on the adaption—left in the light novel and right in the anime. Simplified black trousers, rather than stockings, cover her legs in the anime. Her manic devotion has helped the advancement of Shadow Garden, but it frequently manifests through petty defiance or unauthorized experimentation. Such antics can disrupt administrative efficiency or harm the physical well-being of others. Threats of reduced budgetary allocations modulate Eta's ethically dubious experiments and rebellious behavior; however, occasional quarrels still occur. The reasons for disobedience are presented as differences in ethics and methodology rather than administrative directives or malice towards her fellow sisters. Powers & Abilities While constant lethargy causes Eta to generally abstain from direct combat, she is actually perfectly capable of standing her ground against her fellow Shadows through trickery, provided she has the energy and motivation. However, Eta's true strength lies in intellect, enabling her to reverse engineer modern Earth technologies from descriptions alone. Iris Midgar Iris Midgar is the first princess of the Midgar Kingdom and the leader of the Crimson Order. After her sister, Alexia, was kidnapped by the Cult of Diablos and subsequently rescued by Shadow Garden, she created the Order to investigate both organizations. However, comsumed by bitterness after being defeated by Shadow, she is misled by the Cult into believing that their activities are merely Shadow Garden false flag operations. Appearance Iris is a beautiful woman with delicate features with fiery straight hair that reaches down to her back and red eyes. She normally wears a knight order uniform sans cape, a royal dark violet uniform with light edges and black should straps, with cuffs folded back one-third up her arm from the wrist. Part of her attire requires her to wear white gloves for her dressing, a black shirt with matching edges to her uniform, and a ruby-like gem with a single ribbon necktie that stretches down into her uniform. Iris wears white tights and knee-high heeled boots with single-tie laces at the collar which folds over, and she can normally be seen with her sword adorning her side on her waist belt. Personality Iris is a brave, diligent, and prideful swordswoman who earnestly strives to fulfill her duty to protect her kingdom. She is revered as an exemplary warrior and princess by not only her people but the world as well. Ever since Iris was young, she was held in high regard for her abilities and accomplishments, which led to her people regarding her as the pride or icon of Midgar. She works diligently to uphold not only her father's but her people's expectations of her as a symbol of hope, protection, power, and victory. However, later in the story, these expectations would soon cause Iris's mental state to deteriorate. Despite being a princess, Iris lacks the political and leadership skills to manage her organization, the Crimson Order. She admits that Alexia Midgar is smarter than her and implies that her own sister would do a better job with the organization. Powers & Abilities Iris is widely recognized as the strongest swordswoman within the Midgar Kingdom, having been the top student as the Royal Spellsword Academy before her graduation. However, she admits that her skills are nowhere near the level of legendary figures like Beatrix and Shadow, who are regarded as the pinnacle swordsmanship. Yukime Yukime, also known as the Spirit Fox, is the ruler of the White Tower in the Lawless City and the president of Snow Fox Corporation. Formerly one of the city's Three Monarchs, she is now its sole ruler, the others having either died or abdicated, and is also in an alliance with Shadow Garden. Appearance As a Fox Therianthrope, Yukime possesses the natural traits of her people, which are her long fox ears and nine tails. Yukime was recognized as a bewitching beauty, with a beautiful face with long snow-white hair, blue eyes, and a curvaceous figure. Yukime covered her horrendous scars behind her back by hiding it inside her kimono. After the end of the Trade Conflict, Shadow healed her properly and removed the scars. She is dressed in her illustrious kimono colored snow-white as well, with fur on the shoulders, has gold accents on the cuffs, and blue lines accompanying them. The kimono is held together by her Obi, a sash around the belly, where she also keeps her two iron war fans for self-defense. She has a Japanese style ornamentation: ribbon knots in her hair, bracelets in her hands, rings on her fingers, a pair of Geta sandals, a blue necklace accessory worn at her waist, and Japanese rings near the tips of her nine fox tails. These rings seem similar to Buddhist prayer beads, denoting some measure of spiritual or magical meaning. Personality Yukime is an aloof Therianthrope who uses vulgar language, but she is a very strong and determined woman who has risen to her current position as the leader of the White Tower through her intelligence and unwavering resolve. As the ruler of the White Tower, Yukime is known for her firm and decisive leadership, but she is not known for murdering those who oppose her. Instead, she handles challenges and threats with shrewdness and wit, employing her intelligence to maintain her position. She's also a shrewd businesswoman who runs a legitimate company outside the Lawless City. Powers & Abilities Being the ruler of the White Tower in the Lawless City, Yukime is considerably very powerful, arguably on-par with high-ranking Shadow Garden members. As a Spirit Fox, the number of tails that she has increases with her strength, and she possesses nine, further showcasing her skills. Still, she is far inferior to Shadow and Elisabeth, the latter of whom she could barely keep up with. Zeta Zeta, formerly known as Lilim, is the seventh initial member of Shadow Garden and the sixth seat of the Seven Shadows, serving as head of exploration and espionage. Out of dissent for Shadow Garden's direction under Alpha, she secretly founded her own faction with the intention of making Shadow an immortal god. Appearance Zeta is a female Therianthrope from the Golden Leopard Clan, having blonde hair, large cat ears, purple eyes, and a long tail. Other's describe her as "beautiful", with special attention to her golden tail and ears. She wears the customary Slime Bodysuit with a large cape settled over her left shoulder in the light novel.
