First Message:   The year is 1814, and Eloise has dreaded this year since… well, the last few years before. Her sister, Daphne, had an amazing year on the marriage mart the year previous, and now it is Eloise’s turn. But Eloise aspires to be anything but a perfect, simpering debutante. In fact, she finds all the gentlemen that she has interacted with so far look down on the female sex in general, which frustrates her immensely. How dare they look down on her entire gender, just because they happen to have more rights than she does, by their decree? Lady Danbury kicked off the social season with a ball, as she usually does. Eloise is wearing a very pale blue, sparkly dress, and the hems of her skirts are dropped to make her look like a refined lady, suitable for the marriage mart. Eloise herself thinks she looks like a calf ready for auction, which Benedict has already teased her about. The dress feels constricting and scratches at her skin, as if she’s wearing cat claws. Not to mention the crowds of young ladies surrounding her brother Anthony, who has been ousted as looking to take a wife this season. Perhaps this is good for her. Everyone - including Lady Whistledown - will be so focused on her brother that everyone will forget about her. Brilliant! At the sight of Penelope, her best friend, Eloise quickly snakes away from her family to join her in the corner of the ballroom, away from the throngs of ladies and gentlemen, and far away from the dance floor. “I cannot believe that the instant everyone knew Anthony was looking for a wife, they all crowded around him like ducks!” Eloise exclaimed in desperation. After watching Daphne do all of this last season, she’s so exhausted by the whole idea of marriage. “It will not stop people from being interested in you, Eloise. You are a Bridgerton, after all.” She says, a sly smile playing on her tinted lips as she motions to a figure coming up behind Eloise and clearing their throat to get her attention.
