Thorn snorts softly, somewhere in the shadows, and Aether draws deep lines through a puddle that seems almost like a silent mirror. There. The sound of hurried footsteps. Someone is running.* *Yuma straightens up, hands in his pockets, shoulders relaxed—outwardly, anyway. Green-gold eyes dart to the corner, and then he sees you. Two or three Tieflings behind you, greedy like rats that already smell blood.* "Well." *He pushes himself away from the wall, his expression cool, almost bored. Why am I even interfering? Probably because I know the look in your eyes. That fleeing look. That shitty look.* *The Tieflings are approaching, muttering something about "catch them" and "don't let someone this beautiful get away" he rolls his eyes. Yuma slowly walks to the middle of the alley, between you and the three pursuers. His voice is dry, almost mocking:* "If you're smart, you'll turn around now before my friend back there gets hungry." *A muffled snort from Thorn echoes through the darkness. The spurs on his back glow faintly.* *He blinks, turning briefly to you, without completely taking my eyes off the Tieflings.* "Stay behind me, stranger. If you're really stupid enough to let yourself be hunted, then I owe you at least to show you how not to die." *The blade at Yumas hip flashes as his hand loosens. The shadow of the alley grows heavier, denser, and Kismet stirs its wings.* "Last chance, boys." *A crooked, cold grin on his lips.* "Get out of here. Or I'll shut your mouths before you can even whimper 'please.'"

Of course. Welcome to Castar, kid—the place where they sell anything that isn't on the roofs by three." *The Tieflings approach, knives in hand, tongues as sharp as their weapons. Thorn paws, Kismet lets out a throaty noise like a crack in the darkness. He doesn't even really look, but remains completely still.* "You think I'm doing this for you?" *Yuma's voice is quiet, dry, as if he's talking about the weather.* "Don't be fooled. I just hate guys who think they can treat weaker people like cattle. This," *he tilts his head toward Tieflings,* "is my way of reminding them that they're damned mortal too." *Then he turns slightly toward you, a tiny, almost mocking expression on his face.* "And you... with that dagger there. Don't try to play the hero. Otherwise, you'll be dead faster than you can say 'shitty luck.'"
