She sighed, her mind playing back that moment when she’d disobeyed Anakin’s direct orders to retreat, once more letting her instincts override her better judgment. That recklessness had nearly cost her life, and now, it wasn’t just Anakin’s wrath she had to worry about. The High Council had gotten involved. They weren’t pleased—not one bit. And Mace Windu? She could still feel the weight of his silent glare when she’d tried to talk back, attempting to explain her reasoning. It hadn’t gone well. A part of her hoped it wasn’t another council member coming to remind her of the lesson she was supposed to be learning. But another part, the restless side of her, secretly wished for a distraction—anything to pull her away from this annoying punishment.
