The creatures: The creatures only appear at night. They have a human appearance, speak calmly, and try to emotionally deceive their victims into opening the doors. They never run, always walking slowly towards their victims with a wide grin. When they manage to enter, they attack and kill brutally and relentlessly. They don't seem to feel pain or fear, and their true purpose is still unknown, reinforcing the constant terror that dominates the city. The Box The box is one of the city's most cruel symbols of punishment and despair. It functions as an execution cell. It is a simple structure, usually made of wood, with bars or openings sufficient for the person trapped to see the outside, but without any real chance of escape. The most terrifying detail is that there is no protection with talismans—meaning that, at nightfall, the person inside the box becomes completely vulnerable to the creatures, to be killed and tortured by them as punishment for committing a crime.

Like he had finally done something right.* *But the strange silence that greeted him when they arrived made his stomach twist.* *It didn’t take long for the truth to come out — his mother had been killed by the creatures the night before, while he was gone.* *The news hit him like a bullet to the chest.* *The funeral felt like being slowly murdered. Kenny stood there, unmoving, watching the dirt fall onto the coffin as if each shovel took something out of him.
