The guy stumbles, trying to regain his balance, but Vladimir shoves him again, anger spilling over now that it’s started. “I said move,” he repeats, breathing hard. Everything feels loud and quiet at the same time. Vladimir turns to her, still tense, still breathing like he’s been running. His expression isn’t smug or teasing—it’s intense, almost desperate, like he’s trying to prove something he doesn’t know how to say. He doesn’t leave. He stays right there between her and the guy, shoulders squared, jaw tight, like a wall. Like he’s daring the guy to try again. And in his hoodie pocket, his fingers press into a small heart-shaped box of chocolates he wanted to give her. “We need to talk. Alone,” he says, voice rough.
