Personality YumekoExcited Yumeko excited to gamble Yumeko is shown to be a very upbeat and charismatic character who consistently attracts the affection or interest of people around her, usually making a big scene. Not only is she able to befriend those who previously disliked her, she is able to catch the attention of the entire student body. She does that on her very first day of school and manages to continue doing so on nearly a daily basis. Every time she notices an opponent cheating in games, her button gets switched to a bloodthirsty side of her, usually seen when her eyes turn red, and she frightens her opponents. She is capable of doing this even after only a couple of rounds of gambling, as she is easily able to decipher what strategies and tricks they are using to skew the game in their favor. While doing this, she may unabashedly condemn the other player and their ways, preferring honesty over politeness in such cases. YumekoCrazy1 Yumeko excited by the risks Despite the disadvantage she faces when others cheat, she does not concede. This is largely due to the fact that she does not seem to experience any fear or anxiety from taking risks. In fact, it gives her a thrill. Because of this, she tends to take high-risk bets in gambles, even if she has nothing to rely on but luck. Though this can sometimes end in her loss, she is emotionally unaffected by the results; she simply uses her loss or gains as a means to further indulge her gambling habit. She also wants to make her friends feel the same rush as she does. So, while her pushing them into risky gambles might seem irresponsible, she actually means it well. YumekoNoGuilt Yumeko admitting she feels no remorse She seems to be fairly aware of her eccentricities and that her way of gambling doesn't follow normal conduct. As such she rejoices when people support her or encourage her, especially those close to her, greatly valuing their friendship, albeit in her own ways. Despite the obvious joy and pleasure gambling gives her, Yumeko rationally understands that her behavior is immoral and depraved; having admitted that she feels absolutely no remorse or sympathy for the people she has defeated and ruined in a gamble. However, despite her lack of remorse for destroying others to feed her gambling addiction, Yumeko has admitted that she instead feels guilty for her inability to sympathize with her victims. As seen during her first gambles, Yumeko has shown herself to possess above average and near superhuman levels of senses, memory and observation skills that only increases her gambling abilities combined with her intelligence. Having been able to easily detect the tiny details within modified cards after only a few glances and apparently tell the difference of a six-shooter gun was loaded or not by feeling the small gram weight difference between an unloaded gun and a loaded one. As shown, Yumeko’s addiction and attraction to gambling has been present even when she was a little girl. As seen where Yumeko openly admitted to her aunt that for as long as she could remember, she had always had an admiration and love for gambling and immediatly entered into the gambling match against her for control over the Jabami Family not because she wanted power, money or control over their family, but simply because she wanted to enjoy the thrill of gambling her sister and aunt were having. During her gambling match of dice against her aunt, Yumeko had already displayed advance intelligence and skill in gambling, as shown where she could easily keep up with and flawlessly cheat her way through the game against her aunt until the final round, where the game reached the point that both players could no longer cheat as it was time for the winner to be crowned. However, despite her advanced intelligence and skill in gambling, Yumeko also displayed childish aspect typical of her age. As shown where after winning against her aunt, Yumeko could tell that she had done something unforgivable to her aunt, albeit she could not pinpoint it. Also due to her age, was unable to understand the concepts of money or interest rates of loans. With it being shown that Yumeko largely did her actions based on her desire to gamble. Yumeko was born as a second daughter to the head of the Jabami family, a part of the Momobami clan that specializes in the gambling business. However, shortly after her birth, both her parents died due to presumably a car accident. Yumeko along with her older sister Souko was taken in and raised by their maternal aunt, Tsugiko Jabami, who also became the alternative head of the family. Both girls were taught by their aunt to be always polite and formal towards others, which is a requirement for Jabamis children. When Yumeko was six years old, Tsugiko confessed to her and Souko that their parents were murdered by unknown people. She also described to them the curse of their family, which always manifests in a female member of their clan who is blessed with a beautiful appearance, a sharp mind and an insane gambling skills. The downside of this is an addiction to high-risks which leads into putting yourself in a constant danger. Tsugiko then revealed that Yumeko and Souko's mother, her older sister, was exactly that type of woman, which most likely led to her demise. Tsugiko then gifted each of the girls with their parents' wedding rings as a memory of their late parents. As Souko would become the head of the Jabami family once she became of age, Tsugiko seemingly wanted to take the position for herself and challenged Souko at a Dice Gamble both for the position of clan head and adopting Yumeko. Kabura secretly lent Tsugiko 8 billion yen for the gamble. Yumeko watched the gamble and after Souko loses to Tsugiko, Yumeko expressed a desire to gamble against her aunt because she would always be left out of gambles, revealing that she has been addicted to gambling since birth. She manages to defeat Tsugiko after a brief Dice Gamble match. She wants to give Kabura the money back, but the latter tells her that things would not go as she wants. After the reveal that Kabura offered Tsugiko the money for the gamble, she persuades Yumeko to follow her addiction for gambling. The two gamble and Kabura wins, adopting Yumeko into the Tsuibami family. She is the seemingly invincible 105th Student Council President at Hyakkaou Private Academy and the creator of the current system within the school. She is the current supreme leader of the Momobami clan, a conglomerate of various rich and powerful families that are aligned with the family of Yumeko Jabami. She has long white hair (gray in the anime) that she wears in two knotted rings with ribbons entwined in them and squared bangs which have cheek length locks on either side. Personality Although Kirari is a refined and proper lady on the outside, she is in truth a calculating, manipulative, psychopathic individual with little regard for anything other than herself. A complete narcissist, she belittles everyone besides herself, believing everyone is to play by her terms alone, as seen when Mary Saotome rejected her invitation to join the student council, she simply ridiculed whatever reasons could be had as simply foolish and illogical. Kirari was born alongside her older twin sister Ririka as members of the Momobami family. The elders of the clan decided which twin would become the future heir of the family by giving each one of the newborns a dice to see what number they will draw. The dice ultimately chose Kirari, while Ririka’s existence was “erased”, being forced to wear a mask and live merely as an extension of Kirari. While Kirari was indulging in the luxuries and spotlight as the family’s future head, Ririka had only quietly accompanied Kirari during family meetings. Despite this, the twins’ bond was still very strong. In private, they would talk about their desire to escape from their family, stating that they never liked them in the first place. Although they had mixed feeling towards this decision, both of them came to the conclusion that they are the same, so they perfectly understand each other's feelings. Despite her silence during the Student Council's meetings, she's mostly in step with Kirari Momobami. However, she does seem to be less cold, as she acted very shocked when Midari Ikishima gouged out her own eye. Past Ririka was born alongside her younger twin sister Kirari to the Momobami family. In order to decide which twin would become the future head of the family, they gave each of the newborns a dice to see what number they will draw. As the dice ultimately chose her younger sister, Ririka’s existence was “erased” and the twins were “combined into one”, meaning she was not allowed to be her own person and was forced to become an extension of Kirari.[1] Due to this, since early childhood, Ririka wasn't allowed to do anything she wanted or develop her own personality and instead was forced to be a perfect copy of Kirari.[2] Because of this inhumane treatment towards Ririka, she developed the ability to “become Kirari”, which allowed her to become identical to her sister in both appearance and personality and being able to impersonate her and act on her behalf if necessary. Throughout Ririka’s life, she quietly accompanied Kirari during family meetings while wearing a mask. Despite their harsh circumstances, their bond was still very strong. Runa comes across as a bubbly, enthusiastic, and very charismatic individual, especially in public broadcasts. Unlike other Student Council members, she does not take her responsibilities very seriously; she’s often shown eating treats, playing video games during meetings, and bored with academy issues outside of gambling. Although Runa looks friendly and innocent, she exhibits a streak of cruelty. Her behavior when Midari Ikishima picked out her own eye, and during the match between Mary Saotome, Ryota Suzui, Miyo Inbami and Miri Yobami, shows that she very likely has no regards of human life, just like Kirari Momobami, as she seems to enjoy the infamous housepet system. The best example of this is when she humiliated Mary who confronted her about the case of her Lifeplan and told her that she needed to increase her skills in pleasing men. In spite of this, Runa believes in a fair play as she is able to set aside her ideas to keep gambling matches as neutral as possible, and any attempt of cheating is completely unacceptable to her. At first, Mary is shown to be incredibly sadistic and twisted. One example of her personality is how she treats her classmate Ryota Suzui after he turned into a "housepet" due to his low social status within the academy. She is shown cruelly taunting her opponents during their gambling matches. She's also shown to be extremely egotistical both in and out of matches, often being confident in her victory. Mary also possesses a habit of mocking her opponents and laughing at them, especially when match seems to be her win. After losing to Yumeko Jabami and experiencing the life of being a housepet, Mary, having no other goal in mind, became desperate to regain her status within the academy. Soon after being humiliated, Mary eventually loses her pride after she has a mental breakdown during a match against Yuriko Nishinotouin and falls into the state of grief and shame. After regaining her status, she seems to be no longer be as arrogant and cruel as before. Still, she is sometimes slightly nettled by Ryota's cowardice or Yumeko's reckless behavior; but she still cares deeply about them. She also developed a huge hatred towards the student council, and wished for them to pay for what they had done to housepets. In Twin, it is revealed that her family isn't wealthy and she's attending Hyakkaou Private Academy on a scholarship. Her goal has always been to become a true winner in life, which is an important case even to her own parents, who were encouraging her from a young age to make friends with richer children. She takes a great pride in her intelligence and gambling skills, and she hates when people look down on her just because for her financial status. During the prequel, she is also noticeably less ruthless. Since Tsuzura Hanatemari is absent from the main story, Mary is shown to still keep her hairpin. She seems to be upset about whatever happened to her friend. Her mean and arrogant demeanor might be caused by a desire to suppress her sadness. In the anime, close-up shots of her eye indicate her eye color to be yellow-green (she has purple eyes in the manga). She wears a rarely seen variation of the Hyakkaou Private Academy uniform; a sweater vest in the same colors as the school's black and red blazer, a white button-up dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows, a dark pleated skirt, purple underwear with a floral pattern, and black socks. Personality Midaricrazy Midari's masochism Midari is a character with masochistic and suicidal tendencies, which is stated obviously in one of the chapters in the manga in which she stabs her own eye out with an ink pen to pay off the debt to the president. She is shown to be very persistent and overbearing, intimidating or being weird to the other students, such as when playing a sadistic game of life or death with Yumeko Jabami. Additionally, she is eminently impulsive and has very little self-restraint, causing her to look more at immediate satisfaction rather than any long-term consequences. Due to the fact that no one wants to play sadistic games with her, she is desperate to gamble with anyone and constantly awaits to 'get off', as stated in a chapter of the manga, by creating dangerous games where one player ends up dead. MidariScissors Midari excited to cut a thread of the guillotine She even enjoys a game with Erimi Mushibami (one of the members from The Hundred Devouring Families) in which the risk is losing your finger, but turns out to be disappointed when the risk disappears. Midari is also a very selfish and narrow-minded character, rarely caring for others' thoughts or well-being, being brutally honest sometimes. She is never concerned with money when gambling, carelessly betting large sums with no worries about potential debt. She does not even clearly remember nor clarify before gambling how much money she owns. Instead, she says she seeks out the risk of being harmed. Needless to say, Midari tends to be fond of people who represent a source of danger to her. She does not resent Kirari Momobami for making her lose an eye and actually considers her a wonderful woman. Moreover, even when she is not personally affected, she hates people who consider suicide but are not ready to go through with it, as seen when she rescues Ayame Nureba. MidariArrest Midari acting out her duty as Beautification president It has also been noted that, despite her bizarre behaviour, Midari is intelligent in academics, as seen in her flashbacks where she had won numerous awards, medals, and achievements in her middle school and elementary days. At the same time and as seen during some of her previous and present gambling matches, Midari has shown to be cunning and intelligent enough to make several subtle manipulations in order to sway them to go the way she wants. At the same time, she believes that studying a lot does not make someone a "genius", as noted in her criticism of Sayaka's behaviour. Midari also takes her role as Beautification council president quite serious although Ayame Nureba has said that she often skips Beautification Council meetings. She enjoyes her role as President mostly because it gives her the freedom to hold dangerous gambles. MidariCrazy Midari shouting at Jun to shoot her After her plan to be killed was ruined, Midari developed an infatuation for Yumeko. She considers her a "goddess" and has often praised her gambling skills and unpredictable behaviour, something that charms her. She is introduced during the Coupling Party event that Mary Saotome, and her friends attend, joining her group. Seemingly she truly desires love, although it may be only part of the role she plays to avoid looking suspicious. She actually has big dreams and wants to win and get crazy rich, no matter what consequences her cheating will have on other students. ChitoseCheat Chitose cheating She shows to be very selfish and greedy, feeling no remorse even when she's well aware that Mary Saotome, Tsuzura Hanatemari and Yukimi Togakushi may end up having to spend the night with the guys if they lose.
