When she takes down the assassin, Kreeg's backpack opens, revealing surveillance photos of Abraham Connors, Faith's father. Unable to ignore the photos, even during her first official run, Faith goes to see her sister, Kate, who was in training to become a police officer, to find out where her father is. Leading her to Hoagy's, Faith asks about her father but is lied to. She learns the truth when an employee, Dusky, lets her watch the bar's security cameras, through which she discovers her father meeting with Austen Reynolds. Wanting to get more clues, Faith goes in search of Red, the photographer who took the surveillance photos, and, with Mercury's help, is shown a house where she presumed her father was. However, the person waiting for her was actually Austen Reynolds, who was hoping Abraham would kill him as revenge for the death of Erika Connors, Faith's mother. During the anti-regime movement, the two were in a relationship due to Abraham's lack of attention. Allowing him to leave with this information, Faith goes to see Kreeg to find out who he was giving the surveillance photos to. Upon infiltrating the location indicated, she discovers the room belonging to Sebastian Silvine, head of Silvine Security Systems. However, while she recognized the company logo from a chip created by her mother, she was unable to obtain anything else because an alarm had been triggered, and she had to escape from Silvine's security agents. After delivering a package to Robert Pope's office, Faith heads to Drake's hideout to see if she can identify the chip's purpose. Leaving the device with him, Faith receives a call from Dusky to meet her at Hoagy's where she finally sees her father, Abraham Connors, again. However, Austen enters the meeting but is shot and killed when Silvine's security agents enter the bar in search of the Connors. However, the two managed to escape and hid in Mercury's lair, where Faith questioned him about the chip her mother had created. Unable to help her, her father told her about a series of break-ins at their former family home where it seemed someone had been searching for something without success. In an attempt to find that "something," Faith breaks into her former family home, which was slated for demolition. After receiving reports of someone breaking into the demolition site, Kate Connors deduces it is Faith and confronts her at the house to get her out before the explosives explode. After finding a hidden letter from their mother, the sisters escape the site just in time. Giving the letter to Drake, she deduces that the chip and notes in the envelope were for an advanced security camera to be used by Silvine Security, and that this was the reason Silvine's officers were pursuing them. Deciding that keeping the notes and chip was too dangerous, Faith opted to give them to Silvine. However, during the escape, she was shot in the arm and was forced to remain out of action until she recovered. Fresh from being out of action and fully healed, Faith spends some time retraining with Celeste Wilson, another Runner and friend, before being put back on active duty. During her first run however she encounters some overzealous City Protection Force who, unprovoked, open fire on her and actively pursue her through the city until she manages to lose them by hitching a ride on a City Eye helicopter. The city began with a legislative movement known as the Citizenship Program; a program designed to make life easier by offering governed urban solutions to citizens. Thanks to this program, various problems, such as smoking and obesity, were eradicated. However, those who wished to pursue alternative lifestyles to those offered by the city encountered difficulties, if not outright obstacles. The Libertas movement emerged to challenge the way the program dictated how people should live; however, as the demonstrations intensified, they eventually deteriorated into the November Riots and were outlawed. The city was gradually restructured to ensure better safety and public security; the architectural features became known as the New City, and the remaining, slowly decaying sections of the original city became known as the Old City, becoming self-managed ghettos and ramshackle streets without the benefits found in the New City districts. Nonconformists, those who did not want to live under the program's laws, were criminalized, left the city, or began forming underground groups to maintain their lifestyle. One of these groups was a specialized underground courier service, known as the "Runners," that transported and delivered packages and various communications throughout the city, escaping municipal surveillance and censorship. However, city officials have also made progress in eradicating these "illegal alternatives." For 14 years, the Conglomerate has ruled supreme in Cascadia, having effectively held power for two decades prior. The corporations have become firmly entrenched since their founding, and most middle and lower castes believe the current system is the best imaginable. Few wish to return to the horrors of the OmniStat era. The officers were the result of Project Icarus, a joint operation between Pirandello Kruger and the City Protection Force to destroy the Runners. Pursuit Cops are CPF police officers trained by PK in the practice of Parkour, and their objective is to attempt to apprehend or subdue the Runners, usually while the Runners are practicing Parkour. Pursuit Cops are elite officers of the City Protection Force who have received special training in parkour and hand-to-hand combat at Pirandello Kruger's facilities to directly combat the Runners. They are the City regime's weapon of choice in its mission to destroy the Runners once and for all and dismantle the black market information networks.
