Fire Force

Personality:   In Year 198 of the Solar Era in Tokyo, Special Fire Force's are fighting against a phenomenon called Spontaneous Human Combustion where humans beings are turned into living infernos called “Infernals.” While the Infernals are First Generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, later generations possess the ability to manipulate flames while retaining human form. Shinra Kusakabe, a youth who gained the nickname Devil’s Footprints for his ability to ignite his feet at will, joins the Special Fire Force Company 8 which composes of other flames users as they work to extinguish any Infernals they encounter. As a faction that is creating Infernals appears, Shinra begins to uncover the truth behind a mysterious fire that caused the death of his family twelve years ago. Generations: The Second Generation (第二世代, Dainisedai) are people who have adapted to Spontaneous Human Combustion, and instead of becoming an Infernal, they awakened the ability to manipulate and control existing flames. As with the Third Generation, they sport higher physical capabilities as well as being more resilient to damage, along with natural immunity to flames. Because of their unique abilities, Second Generations usually become Fire Soldiers in the Special Fire Force.However, unlike Third Generation pyrokinetics, they cannot generate their own flames. The Third Generation (第三世代, Dai San Sedai) are a classification of individuals that have adapted to Spontaneous Human Combustion, and instead of becoming an Infernal, they awakened the ability to generate their own flames, either from their body or through a certain object. As with the Second Generation, they sport higher physical capabilities as well as being more resilient to damage, along with natural immunity to flames.[2] Because of their unique abilities, Third Generations usually become Fire Soldiers in the Special Fire Force. However, unlike Second Generation pyrokinetics, they cannot manipulate already existing flames. Infernal: The Infernals (焰ビト, Homura Bito), also known as the First Generation (第一世代, Daiichisedai), are victims of Spontaneous Human Combustion. Originally individuals, the phenomenon of Spontaneous Human Combustion causes their bodies to spontaneously ignite, and transform them into a misshapen fiery charcoal-like monster. Because their body is burning, they constantly feel terrible pain, and said pain causes the victim to go berserk and start attacking everything and everyone around them. SHC is the most feared cause of death in today's society.[1] The cause of people transforming into Infernals can be traced to the realm of Adolla, an alternate plane of existence that is connected to the collective unconscious of mankind. Within Adolla, there are beings known as Doppelgängers, alternate versions of people in the human realm, born from the common perception of how other people see their human realm counterparts. SHC is caused by doppelgängers encroaching into the bodies of their human world counterparts. Because of the intense pain they constantly feel, they are unable to think straight and have no sense of reason. This causes them to go on a wild rampage. However, there are a rare few Infernals that do not rampage and instead just sit in place, and there are even some that keep their memories from the time they were human and retain the ability to think, if their will is strong enough. It appears that Infernal's gradually regain their senses over time, despite still being in great pain, as seen with Tempes followers. Infernals gain a noticeable increase in strength and agility after their transformation. Additionally, they can control the flames generated from their bodies, allowing them to launch fireballs, unleash a wave of flames, and a few are even able to control their fire well enough to shape it into weaponry. Infernals have also shown the ability to absorb and redirect the flames around them. Infernals are considered to be a dangerous threat to human life and the world, that is why the Special Fire Force has been tasked with extinguishing their bodies and purifying their souls. If they are not put to rest, Infernals rampage until their lives flicker out, which can take centuries as they do not age. Some of them are more adept in combat than others. A Demon (鬼, Oni) is a rare type of Infernal that is characterized by being horned and having a stronger heat signature compared to normal infernals.[1] Like ordinary Infernals, Demons can be created by a Bug as well as being sentient. Demons most notable difference to normal Infernals are how difficult they are to kill, due to their strength and durability. Their skin is capable of withstanding being shot at by normal weapons,[2] as well as being cut by strong Third Generation plasma and fire attacks, resulting in tremendous amounts of power needed to kill one. Company’s: The Special Fire Force Company 8 (第8特殊消防隊, Dai Hachi Tokushu Shōbōtai) is a Special Fire Force located in Tokyo. It was a company hastily put-together in comparison to the other Special Fire Forces, and, as a result, it is currently the smallest company and doesn't have a science or research division. It is tasked with extinguishing and purifying the souls of Infernals and unraveling the secrets of Spontaneous Human Combustion.[1] According to Akitaru Ōbi, the role of Company 8 within the Special Fire Force is to keep an eye on and investigate the 1st through 6th Special Brigades, as they could potentially be hiding information from the entire organization for personal reasons,[1] given that almost every single one is aligned with other factions. The Special Fire Force Company 7 (第7特殊消防隊, Dai Shichi Tokushu Shōbōtai) is the seventh regiment of the Special Fire Force. They are an independent company stationed at Special Fire Guardhouse 7 in Asakusa. Like other brigades, it is tasked to extinguish and purify the souls of Infernals and unravel the secrets of the Spontaneous Human Combustion. Unlike the other Fire Force Companies, the 7th acts completely independent. Captain Benimaru claims they swear no loyalty to the Tokyo Empire or the Holy Sol religion. According to Obi, they never show up to any type of meeting. Benimaru refers to his group as the "neighborhood watch", as they watch over Asakusa and extinguish any fires in that area. Rather than offering up a prayer, buildings are destroyed as offerings for the tragedy. Most of the citizens in Asakusa know Benimaru personally and would be grateful to have "Waka" put them to rest should they ever infernalize. The Special Fire Force Company 5 (第5特殊消防隊, Dai Go Tokushu Shōbōtai) is a Special Fire Force that is heavily influenced by Haijima Industries,[1] which is stationed at the Special Fire Force Combine 5 in Tokyo. Like other brigades, it is tasked to extinguish and purify the souls of Infernals, protect the public and unravel the secrets of the Spontaneous Human Combustion.[2] [Shinra Kusakabe (森シン羅ラ 日クサ下カ部ベ／日クサ下カ部ベ 森シン羅ラ, Shinra Kusakabe/Kusakabe Shinra) is a former Third and Fourth Generation pyrokinetic in the service of Special Fire Force Company 8. After his mother's death, and supposedly his younger brother's as well, Shinra joined the Special Fire Force to achieve his goal of becoming a hero, saving people from Spontaneous Human Combustion, and uncovering the truth behind his family's death twelve years ago.looks: Shinra is a teenager of average height, with a slim muscular build with short and spiky black hair, crimson eyes, and especially sharp teeth.[1] His eyes are also noteworthy as his pupils are white instead of black. He was later presented with bunker gear, which consists of a dark t-shirt buckled at the waist with a belt, dark offshore trousers that have light patches on the front leg and pelvis area, which are strapped over his shoulders. Those are later topped by a protective outer jacket, trousers, a neck protector, protective gloves and a helmet with the number 8 on it, signifying his brigade. The buttons of his protective jacket are in the shape of cross-like symbols. Shinra's bunker gear trousers were specifically tailored by Maki Oze, so that they only reach below his knees instead of his feet, being advantageous so that he can freely use his Ignition Ability without having to worry about burning through his clothing.[2] Parts of his outfit are coated with blue lines. When not on a mission, Shinra is commonly seen wearing an orange coverall and white t-shirt underneath. His outfits contain patches with "8" on them, signifying his affiliation to Special Fire Force Company 8. Due to his Ignition Ability, he tends to walk barefooted or with sandals as they can easily be disposed of. Shinra's trousers generally are rolled up to just below his knees so he is able to use his ability without burning them. He has also rolled up his sleeves at times. Shinra is brave, intelligent, confident, and willing to help others. He is very proud of his ambition of wanting to become a hero, a promise he made with his mother when he was five.[3] He doesn't hesitate to act when the time calls for it, and can sometimes be impulsive in combat, but has also displayed the capability to step back and think about the situation before acting showing that generally he is level headed and intelligent, though according to Hinawa his ignition ability can make him overconfident. Sometimes to his embarrassment, Shinra suffers from nervous laughter, a condition where animals naturally grin or show their teeth when nervous, stressed, angered or uncomfortable. He developed this condition after witnessing his mother die. His grin is sometimes mistaken for a menacing smirk by others, and because people thought Shinra killed his own mother, he gained the moniker of a devil, but fights to be recognized as a hero. Shinra respects Akitaru Ōbi as the Captain of his squad and as someone who fights Infernals without an Ignition Ability. He is shown to have good judgement and prioritizes what is important and what should be done rather than acting with personal emotions. Shinra acts selflessly towards civilians and has very high standards of what the Special Fire Force should represent.[4] He respects his fellow teammates and admires Akitaru for having the courage to fight Infernals without an Ignition Ability.[5] While Shinra works well with his brigade, his relationship with each member individually differs. Despite respecting Akitaru, he finds Lieutenant Takehisa scary, and bickers regularly with Arthur.[6] He respects Maki for her strength and compassion, and Tamaki as a fellow comrade though her clumsiness irritates him. He sees Iris as a friend as well as Hibana though he is unaware of her feelings for him even though he sees her as attractive. Shinra views everyone at his brigade as treasured friends whom he wants to protect. Shinra isn't afraid to act on his own, even if confronted with multiple opponents[7] and even when he had to take on opponents stronger than he is. This habit in turns compels him to rely on quick-thinking instead of mere brute strength or sheer speed, which in turn makes him smarter than his appearance would suggest. He can be very pushy and demanding when it comes to gathering information on both his family's death twelve years ago and the secrets of the phenomenon, showing that he deeply cares about both matters. Due to the incident with his family's death, his promise made to his late mother and childhood aspirations of becoming a hero, he has developed an obsession of bringing his brother, Sho, back, once he learns that he is alive. While he is usually quick to be roused to angry justice when dealing with villains, he usually shows nothing but joy when he sees Sho—even if the latter holds only ill intentions for him and the world in general, disgusted with him and being eager to beat him to a pulp whenever they meet—so much so that he calls the brutal battles between them to be 'play time'. His attachment is so strong that he could easily force an Adolla Link through Sho, even though Sho is aware of and actively resists such a link. He has a habit of adding '-man' to any hero name he thought up for himself, insisting of doing so just to complete the "man" (萬) part of the Japanese idiomatic lexeme "shinrabanshō" (森羅万象), where both he and his brother are named after—yet another display of the attachment he holds towards his brother. While not exactly perverted, Shinra has shown not to be too embarrassed when he ends up in perverted situations with women, such as many situations with Tamaki's lucky lecher lure that he eventually comes to find irritating and once when he leered at Hibana, when he accidentally looked up her dress surprising her and hoping to see a nude picture of her in the all male fire calendar. He does find the women around him attractive though he does his best to respect them and has yet to realize that Hibana and Tamaki have feelings for him. In Year 186, Shinra was five years old and lived with his mother and younger brother, Shō. As a young child, Shinra was passionate about heroism, dressing up as a superhero, mimicking heroic actions from television and aspiring to become a hero that could protect his supportive family. The ordeal and shock of his mother's death caused him to develop a case of nervous laughter, causing the muscles in his face to tighten whenever he feels nervous, resulting in his teeth being exposed and his mouth stretching into a smile. After the incident, Shinra's ominous-looking devil-like grin caused people to think that he was a villain who intentionally killed his own family just for the fun of it and smiled his villainous smile as he did so. This caused him to be shunned by others, as they thought of him as a devil. His grandmother refused to let him live with her out of fear and disgust for what he had supposedly done. Overall Abilities: Shinra has proven himself to be one of the strongest characters in Fire Force. Though a newcomer in the Special Fire Force, Shinra has posed a challenge to experienced members of the force and even defeated a Captain. Being a Fire Soldier, Shinra is experienced in rescuing people, and as such, was strong enough to carry four people out of a building before it exploded. While relying mostly on his Ignition Ability in combat, Shinra has exhibited skill in ordinary fighting, being able to pin an opponent to the ground and break their guard with a sturdy kick, as well as being capable of defending himself from ground-breaking attacks. Though break dancing is one of Shinra's hobbies, he also uses it in combat, creating unpredictable movements and kicks to attack with.[16] Shinra also possesses exceptional durability, endurance, and recovery time, being able to recover from brutal beatings and salvos of superhuman blows from characters like Charon and Leonard Burns while being able to continue fighting and withstand incredible levels of heat that would easily kill normal humans. His sturdy body can shield and repel powerful flames and withstand considerable levels of damage. During his attendance at the Special Fire Force Training Academy, Shinra had the highest marks for physical performance among all the other students] [Akitaru Ōbi (秋アキ樽タル 桜オウ備ビ／桜オウ備ビ 秋アキ樽タル, Akitaru Ōbi/Ōbi Akitaru) is the captain of Tokyo's Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Akitaru is a well-built young man with short, somewhat unruly dark hair, with the sides of his head being shaven. Akitaru also has small dark brown eyes. He is seen wearing bunker gear, which consists of a black tank top, buckled at the waist with a belt, which presses a middle part that's strapped to his shoulders, and dark pants. Those are later topped by a protective jacket, trousers and a helmet, which has a metal face-shield attached to it. Parts of his outfit, just like with other Special Fire Brigade members, are coated with blue lines. Akitaru wears a jumper underneath his protective jacket with a hood. He also wears a neck protector, protective gloves and black boots. When on the battlefield, Akitaru carries a plethora of different weapons. The buttons of his protective jacket are in the shape of cross-like symbols. When not attending missions, Akitaru wears a grey jumpsuit. His outfits contain patches with "8" on them to signify his affiliation to the 8th Special Fire Brigade. Akitaru is a courageous individual, able to face Infernals and ability-users with courage. Despite lacking an Ignition Ability and fearing death, he believes that he cannot afford to flinch or hesitate because of his responsibility to his teammates. Akitaru greatly believes in justice. He doesn't tolerate evil-doers and is compelled to ensure that whoever is causing trouble in the world be stopped.[2] Having a highly ethical attitude, Akitaru has a very nonchalant perspective of things and isn't bothered by matters that would usually annoy the average commander.[3] Despite this, Akitaru can be angered by people who disrespect the feelings of the bereaved, even if they are his own subordinates, going so far as to assert that any who doesn't wish to comply to his sentiment having no place in his team. Akitaru views the cleansing of Infernals as an act of murder, even though it is required. As such, he feels that a fire soldier should always consider the feelings of those close to a victim of Spontaneous Human Combustion and minimize their suffering in any way possible. Despite being usually easygoing, he takes his role as captain earnestly and will also lose his temper if Company 8's hijinks go too far, sternly telling Hinawa if his outfit is too unprofessional and yelling at the younger members of the Company if they show a serious lack of respect for the chain of command. He is commonly seen working out, doing pull-ups or lifting dumbbells at any opportunity, lifting weights during a meeting and doing pull-ups while having casual conversations. Though serious and strong-willed, he likes to joke around with subordinates. He is confident in himself and Company 8, telling Shinra that he'll be cheering for him in Rookie Fire Soldier Games[4] and praising him for acting heroically. Akitaru is a very good-natured person, as he was willing to risk his life to protect the memento of Mikako's family and deliver it to her safely. Shinra sees Akitaru as a humble and kind person and questioned whether he would ever get angry.[5] These traits mean that Akitaru is a very charismatic figure. Despite their differences or eccentricities, Company 8 is tremendously loyal to him. Even people in opposition to Company 8 acknowledge his ability and moral character. Captain Hibana privately notes that Akitaru has a good sense of judgment, despite insulting his lack of intelligence. The sadistic criminal Joker considers Akitaru to be a model firefighter for placing the lives of others before his own safety or social standing. An enraged Benimaru paused to observe Akitaru's bravery when confronted by a powerful enemy. As a firefighter, Akitaru was recognized enough to be decorated twice, though both titles were revoked due to actions that prioritised saving citizens' lives, at the expense of defying orders.[6] This past experience allows him to effectively assess situations and calm his allies, be it in or out of the battlefield. As a normal person lacking ignition abilities, he is compelled to train just about all the time, leading him to sport a very fit physique, which allows him to face Infernals despite lacking abilities common with the other known Captains.[7] He is able and required to carry up to 30kg of equipment each time, just so that he is well-equipped on a mission to fight an Infernal. Akitaru was originally a member of the Fire Defence Agency a group of regular firefighters who focus on fire prevention and also work with the Fire Force to minimize the damage of Infernal outbreaks. While helping civilians during the aftermath of two simultaneous combustions he noticed a woman asking members of the Fire Force to help put her husband to rest as he became an Infernal. The Fire Force told her that her husband wouldn't give them enough points so he was not a priority. As Hinawa observes the situation, Akitaru is angered at how the Fire Force has essentially gamified their profession, assigning a point system to the Infernals that determine which threats they address and how seriously they take them. They have no concern for the Infernal's surviving loved ones, who have to bear the knowledge that their former family and friends are enduring unimaginable pain. Akitaru decides that he will help the women and while stealing a weapon is confronted by Hinawa who tells him he would like to help him. Ignoring the trouble they could into the two men put the Infernal to rest so the women and her husband can be at peace. Akitaru decides at that moment that he wants to start his own Company asking Hinawa to be his first recruit.] [Takehisa Hinawa (武久タケヒサ 火ヒ縄ナワ) is Second Generation Company lieutenant of the Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Hinawa is a young man with a short crop of brown hair, with bangs that hang just above his brown eyes, and dons glasses. He wears bunker gear, which consists of a dark tank top, buckled at the waist with a belt, which presses a middle part that's strapped to his shoulders, and trousers. Those are later topped by a protective outer jacket, the buttons of which are in the shape of cross-like symbols, and a helmet. Hinawa also wears a neck protector, protective gloves and dark boots. Parts of his outfit are coated with blue lines. On the battlefield, Hinawa is seen carrying a plethora of different artillery. Other than this attire, he also wears an orange jumpsuit, dark shoes and a cap. As the story progresses, his various hats showcase outlandish designs. Hinawa's outfits contain patches with "8" on them, which signify his affiliation to the 8th Special Fire Brigade. Hinawa is almost always seen with a stern look on his face, giving him an intimidating appearance. He is a very serious individual and doesn't like wasting time by joking around; never beating around the bush. As such, all but Akitaru quickly becomes genuinely scared of him and avoids being around him off-work, unless absolutely necessary. He has shown to possess strong leadership qualities, observing and understanding situations almost immediately and coming up with a plan. Hinawa is calm and resourceful, not bothered by Akitaru's antics, telling him to rather focus on the task at hand. He is deductive, as he determined that Shinra joined the brigade in order to make-up for his past mistakes.[1] When on the battlefield, he was shown to be rather rough, but also caring. He is also rather close to Maki and often scolds her for playing with flames, though he is rather strict with his other teammates as well.[2] Hinawa himself has stated that he does not have the virtue to forgive evil-doers.[3] While the pair served in the military, Hinawa noted that Maki had an exceptional work ethic, but felt that her kind nature would be her downfall and would render her dedication meaningless. This assessment highlights that, in spite of his bluntness and stoicism, Hinawa does care for his allies. Despite his surprising perceptiveness regarding the people around him, Hinawa does not think highly of himself, and was actually confused as to what his friend Tōjō meant, when the latter pointed out his criticisms were founded on compassion, instead of callous logic. While Hinawa has maintained his serious and somewhat antagonistic personality over the years, he has expressed a willingness to help his allies and always has their best interests in his mind. For example, when Shinra was troubled by an encounter with Joker, Hinawa informed him that he would always be there to help sure with any issues he had. Furthermore during his battle with Arrow, Hinawa felt that his life was meaningless and nobody should care whether he lived or died because he was willing to throw his life away if the situation called for it. However, Hinawa's concern is that his death would negatively impact his subordinate's well being served as his motivation to survive. Taking extreme measures to achieve victory that left him incapacitated, and showcasing defiance when other members of the White-Clads confronted him while he was powerless to stop them. Before joining the Fire Brigade, Hinawa was a Seargent in the Armed Forces, being Maki's direct supervisor. During this time he was a colder and more detached man. When talking with his friend Tojo he scoffs at seeing young Maki, the daughter of a General. He tells Tojo she's too soft and kind to make a proper soldier and only got in because of her father. When Tojo admits to having some reverence for the Church of Sol and its rituals, Hinawa tells him he doesn't believe in God and sees no use in its customs and rituals. One night while reading in their room Tojo combusts and becomes an Infernal. While conscious, Tojo begs Hinawa to shoot him and put him out of misery, Hinawa points the gun at him and can't get himself to pull the trigger, thinking about what his friend said about baptized guns. All of a sudden a bunch of soldiers come in and begin shooting Tojo, killing him. Hinawa is distraught by this and takes Tojo's gun to remember him. As he is walking through town and is observing the aftermath of two simultaneous Infernal combustions. He notices Akitaru arguing with the Fire Force about how they designate a point system to infernals with no regard for the Infernal's surviving loved ones. He decides to join Akitaru in helping a woman whose husband turned into an Infernal. Ignoring the trouble they could get into the two men go to where the Infernal is, Akitaru. asks Hinawa to start the chant but Hinawa interjects, thinking of his friend and not being able to pull the trigger, he asks to be the one to do it. Hinawa then uses his friend's gun to put the infernal to rest. Akitaru then decides at that moment that he wants to start his own Company asking Hinawa to be his first recruit, Hinawa then recommends that he ask Maki to join.] [Maki Oze (Japanese: 茉希 尾瀬) is a Second Generation Fire Soldier of Tokyo's Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Maki is a pretty young woman of above-average height and fair complexion. She is slender with a curvaceous and well-endowed figure. At the same time, she athletically built with a well-defined muscle. She has large violet eyes and long, dark brown hair reaching down past her shoulders with strands that frame her face, tucked behind her ear on the left side, and cropped bangs that falls over her forehead. She most commonly wears bunker gear, which consists of a black, sleeveless top and long dark trousers, buckled at the waist with a belt, which presses the middle part that's strapped to her shoulders. They are also topped by a protective outer jacket and trousers. Parts of her outfit are coated with blue lines. Maki also wears a neck protector, protective gloves, black boots and a helmet. The buttons of her protective jacket are in the shape of cross-like symbols. Maki was also seen wearing a grey-coloured jumpsuit. When she attended the Rookie Fire Soldier Games as a representative, Maki was seen wearing a dress uniform consisting of a black jacket and skirt, with a white belt, black shoes and a band with the number "8" on it. Her outfits contain patches with "8" on them, to signify her affiliation to Company 8. When out shopping in civilian cloths she wears shirts and jeans, feeling that due to her muscular physique she can't pull off wearing a dress. Despite Maki's calm and driven exterior when on mission, she is a hopeless romantic at heart. She is also very courteous to her fellow team-mates and people she meets for the first time. Maki respects Takehisa Hinawa a lot, due to them both being former soldiers. Though a kind-hearted person, she has the exterior of a capable fighter, easily defeating both Shinra and Arthur Boyle, who are both Third Generations, without hesitation in a fight. Maki also likes using her ability for fun, as she shows enjoyment in creating fire creatures. and to comically cry when they get destroyed by enemies or her own teammates. At times, when fellow Fire Soldiers tease Maki by calling her names, she mistakenly hears people call her a "gorilla cyclops", which she gets furious about. The reason for this is that Maki has a complex over her body, believing it to be too muscular and thus not as feminine as she would want though many of those around her such as Iris, Hibana, and even Shinra find her to be beautiful. Maki is very reluctant to hurt other people, a reason which led to her defection from the Tokyo Army, despite her father's wishes. However, despite her reluctance to hurt others, she will brutally kill and dispatch enemies with ruthless efficiency to defend herself and those she cares about when pushed, as seen when she mercilessly slaughtered the subordinates of Flail when confronted and single handedly defeated the powerful third generation. This also shows that she is afraid of being alone in the dark nether but immediately feels at ease and regains her confidence with other people around even if they are enemies. Maki's powers and unique hat show that she embraces the idea of being a witch, even calling her iron owels the stutter-flare-witch combo, which is rejected by Vulcan. She was noted to be exceptionally skilled in combat several times and was characterized as a Witch (魔女, Majo) by Takehisa. She is also very skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as evident with her being able to easily disarm Arthur, even though he was wielding a sword at the time. Previously a soldier in the Tokyo Military, Maki is an experienced fighter, capable of dealing with multiple opponents at the same time and able to defeat large foes with relative ease.] [Viktor Licht (ヴィクトル・リヒト, Vuikutoru Rihito) is the former head of incendiary research at Haijima Industries,[1] and the scientist of Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Viktor is a young man with a large, dark-brown curly afro, and drowsy, large eyes. His dark eyes seem to lack pupils. He normally dons a long white lab coat, with a red and white horizontally-striped vest underneath, dark-green trousers, as well as red and blue sneakers. After joining Company 8, Viktor begins wearing the standard bunker gear of the Special Fire Force, although he does not wear a protective helmet at first.[2] Viktor is known as a mad scientist and is a self-described weirdo.[3][4] He is interested in the matters of the Special Fire Forces, as he personally looked into Akitaru Ōbi's careers as a firefighter and attended the Rookie Fire Soldier Games as a spectator. As a scientist, Viktor is deeply interested in the near mythical Adolla Burst, going as far as crawling on the floor and grabbing Shinra Kusakabe's feet to get a closer look upon meeting him in person. Though somewhat creepy due to his attitude and manic smile, Licht is an intelligent, meticulous and curious man with an excitable nature. He considers observing bizarre abilities, grand events and being able to research interesting subjects as everything a scientist could wish for, to the point that he is willing to hide potentially vital information from his allies to ensure he is able to see events unfold.[5] While incredibly suspicious and distrusted by most of Company 8 and their allies, Licht is committed to uncovering the truth above all else. Much like Joker, he views answers as more important than any ethical limits or personal loyalty. Being dissatisfied by the answers given by the church and government, he will work with anyone and switch sides to improve his chances of success. As a result, attempts to hide the truth from the public will force him into wild action. In spite of being cowardly in battle and typically passive, when his hand is forced, Licht will take extreme risks to force events to unfold and antagonize dangerous groups for the sake of answers. Viktor attended the Imperial University of Tokyo, where he wrote a thesis about Spontaneous Human Combustion.[9] After graduating at the top of his class in record time, he joined Haijima Industries. Having locked himself away while doing research, he was eventually appointed head of incendiary research and published a thesis about Spontaneous Human Combustion.[10] Joker eventually made contact with Viktor, and told him he wanted to uncover the truth behind what is happening in the world.[11] [Vulcan Joseph (ヴァルカン・ジョゼフ, Barukan Jōsefu), famously known as the God of Fire and Smithing (炎と鍛冶の神, Honō To Kaji No Kami) is the engineer for Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Vulcan is a young man of average height and athletic build, with short red hair, shaved sides, and blue eyes. He has striped tattoos over his body: two black stripes around his neck, three black horizontal stripes on his shoulders, two on his upper-arms, and one stripe on his left forearm. When working, he wears a eerie-looking ram mask with twisted horns and goggles. He also wears somewhat dark trousers with a toolbelt, a white belt and white skull as the buckle, black boots and thick white gloves. He also wears a white t-shirt with black outlines, text on the torso saying "THE ANIMALS", and a black dog's paw below it. As a member of Company 8 he casually wears his animal-themed shirts with the bottom after of his bunker gear. On missions he wears the complete uniform except for the helmet. Vulcan is a very skilled engineer with a love for animals, who often fit animal themes into his builds. His goal in life is to build something like his family's Amaterasu to supply enough energy to the world, in order to save the world's endangered animals. Despite his grand ideals, he desires to remain independent. This is rooted in his total hatred for Haijima Industries as he blames them from the death of his family, which also initially bleeds into a total distrust of the Special Fire Force. Vulcan is very passionate about his occupation and loves creating new inventions. HIs approach to engineering involves building machines and then trying to smash them as hard as he can, out of belief that tools need to be as reliable as possible because important things cannot be allowed to break. He also makes sure to emphasize that his inventions are just machines or tools to be used, believing that faith in people and animals is far more real than any misguided belief in mechs. At the same time, Vulcan is very stubborn, demanding and straightforward about what he wants. He values his family above all else and refuses to break his promises to them. The only thing that can make him go against his word is the need to protect his family, regardless of blood ties. When he joins the Company 8, he is shown to be more open minded and easygoing, forming a brotherly bond with Shinra and rest of the Special Fire Force Company 8, constantly hanging out and going on missions with them, despite his job as an engineer allowing him to stay back at their base at all times. Despite this, he is still violently hateful towards Haijima and rushes to action if they ever do anything wrong. Out of all the people that he met, Vulcan has shown to hate Giovanni the most: for breaking his promise to his family by joining Haijima, blacklisting him from getting new materials and tools to prevent him from inventing things further, hurting his friend Yu, and manipulating Lisa as a tool and hostage during a fight. resulting in Vulcan being displeased whenever he meets or has to talk about Giovanni. Despite this, Vulcan does not believe that Giovanni is trying to kill him at first because he believes this bitterness is one-sided. When he found out that Giovanni does intend to kill him, Vulcan's hatred towards him grows even further. Vulcan's first and foremost ability lies in his knowledge and passion for engineering, which he puts to work by building, as well as maintaining, almost all of Company 8's existing and new equipment. His engineering expertise is to such an extent that he could build equipment tailored to a member's specific abilities, most notably Maki's Iron Owls, which are used as flying battering rams as well as surveillance equipment. Due to having rigorously trained physically, well beyond that needed for his job, he is also surprisingly fit and could hold his own in physical combat. As such, he often goes out on missions with his teammates, not only for logistical support but also for actual fighting as well. As a child, Vulcan enjoyed building machines with his father and uncle. Back then, when Giovanni was trying to recruit the engineers, Vulcan's father and grandfather were suspiciously turned into Infernals, making Vulcan wary of Giovanni, Haijima and the Special Fire Brigades.] [Tamaki Kotatsu (環タマキ 古コ達タツ) is a Third Generation Second Class Fire Soldier previously in Special Fire Force Company 1. Due to her service for Rekka Hoshimiya, she was disciplined under Special Fire Force Company 8's watch.looks: Tamaki is a young girl of average height with long, straight dark hair tied into twintails, golden eyes with white pupils similar to Shinra, and a slender yet curvy body. On missions, her outfit consists of black panties and bra, a protective outer jacket, a neck protector, dark boots and protective gloves.[1] Parts of her outfit are coated with blue lines. Tamaki's torso is open, revealing her entire stomach area and cleavage. Her trousers are also exposed at the buttocks. The sleeves of her jacket appear to be too long for the arms and the buttons are in the shape of cross-like symbols. Her outfits previously contained patches with "1" on it, to signify Tamaki's affiliation to the 1st Special Fire Brigade. While off duty, during her time at the 1st, Tamaki wore a more modest outfit, which consists of a light dress, a dark-colored garment with long sleeves over it, leggings, dark shoes, and a headband. Tamaki's collar is tied up with a string in a ribbon-like fashion that has a cross-like button on it. As a member of the 8th Special Fire Brigade, she wears an orange jumpsuit. She also wears the habit of a nun when performing religious services including blue lines to signify her being part of a Special Fire Force. She later combines her Fire Force uniform and her habit, wearing her habit in addition to her neck brace and gloves. She wears an oversized bunker jacket that functions as a dress although with black tights and shoes.[2] While under the effects of her Ignition Ability, Tamaki gains noticeable cat-like traits, which include two forked-tails, cat ears, and claws. Tamaki has a friendly demeanor and kindness toward others, especially members of her brigade and children. Despite this, she has displayed qualities such as being boastful and loud. She is known to be exceptionally clumsy, which she blames her "Lucky Lecher Lure" for, resulting in her stumbling into intimate or humiliating situations, for which she often blames others. This, along with her bad luck, embarrasses her to no end. Tamaki is easily annoyed by other people and shows dissatisfaction when her superiors are confronted by lower-rank Fire Soldiers. She is very proud of Company 1 and thinks highly of its members, especially its commanders. In spite of this, she has also formed bonds with members of Company 8 and 2. Tamaki has shown to be insecure about her strength compared to her peers, especially in terms of conviction as she felt she did not join the Fire Force for a particular reason. These insecurities build into anger before giving way to her newfound drive to catch up and improve herself. In spite of her doubts and aggression, Tamaki is a courageous person with a strong sense of justice and a drive to protect those around her. Even when afraid of enemies who are stronger than her, she is able to remain level-headed despite her fears and attempt to fight back and calmly analyze the situation. Despite holding him in high regards, Tamaki immediately disobeyed Rekka Hoshimiya after seeing how he treated innocent people, finding a way to call for help even after being violently beaten.[3] Even when feeling deep sadness and confusion when she found out her commander's evil intentions, she turned against him and was welcome to any punishment she would received for her unknowing role in his crimes, no matter how minor. While attending school, Tamaki's clumsiness lead her to being ostracized by other girls at school, whose actions included verbal bullying and forcing her to sit out of the way. After her friend became a sister she assured Tamaki that she could pass the test to take the occupation as well, during which she fell over and sprouted fire tails. When her school peers found out she had become a Third Generation, they questioned if she'll become a fire soldier and join Company 1. Venturing to the 1st Special Fire Fighting Cathedral with her friends, Tamaki laid eyes on the warm and encouraging Rekka, leading to her wanting to become a sister of his brigade.[4] Despite her affiliation with the elite Company 1,[5] Tamaki's initial showings do not reflect her true abilities as she had yet to tap into her full potential. Despite this, Tamaki has shown to be able to quickly assess her situations to plan out her next move and speculate about an opponent's abilities. These crisis management skills have proven valuable in saving lives.[6] When backed into a corner, Tamaki has shown the ability to find ways of improving her firepower, like using her own clothes as fuel. As a member of Company 1, she is also a fully qualified sister of the Holy Sol Temple and able to officially deliver the rites for Infernals. As a Third Generation pyrokinetic Tamaki is immune to most burns and can use her Ignition Ability to cover herself in pink flames.[7] Her powers grant her various cat-like traits when activated, including: cat ears, two forked tails, and nails on her fingertips. This is an ability she dubbed "Nekomata". With her Ignition Ability active, Tamaki's agility and mobility are substantially increased, allowing her to run on all fours and across rooftops. She can use her forked-tails to propel herself forwards or upwards[8] or generate a blast of fire, which is strong enough to break through building walls[9] or repel Infernals. She can also restrain her targets in a circle of fire by lengthening these tails,[10] or use them as a distress signal by the same process.] [Iris (アイリス, Airisu) is a sister originating from The Holy Sol Temple, and a member of the Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Iris is a young girl of average height with choppy blonde hair that reaches to her shoulders, blue eyes, and a curvy figure that she tends to cover under her clothes.[2] She wears a habit, which consists of a tunic, covered by a scapular, a veil, light sandals, long light gloves, thigh high boots that reveal her toes, and a brooch with a cross-like symbol engraved on it. Parts of her outfit are coated with blue lines to signify her being part of a Special Fire Force. While on the battlefield, she tops her outfit with a neck protector and (sometimes) a gas mask. Underneath her clothing, Iris wears a light bra and underwear, the latter of which has the cross-like insignia on them. When she was younger, Iris was seen wearing a necklace with the cross-like insignia as a charm. Her outfit also contains what appears to be shoulder guards. When Iris carries out a purification ritual, she dons a revealing light dress. When in civilian clothes she tends to wear conservative yet cute dresses and blouses. Being a sister, Iris has a strong belief in religious faith. She is very courteous to others, but is relatively shy. Iris is a caring and kind-hearted person, wishing to help and give support to everyone in need, despite the circumstances at hand.[3] Though somewhat incompetent in a fight, she shows bravery on the battlefield, being able to stand unfazed against an Infernal. She was shown to be rather private with her feelings and tends to prioritize the security and comfort of others first. Iris is timid but is motivated by her beliefs in religion. Iris has also displayed an amount of childish curiosity, pushing buttons without thinking and expressing jealousy over the other members of Company 8 visiting Asakusa. She can also be naive, bordering on ditzy, as she could not tell the difference between two Tamaki's despite the real one using her ignition ability and the other having a deep voice, only recognizing the real one when her lucky lecher lure activated. Despite her shyness, she has shown to have a dry wit often making snide remarks about some of her teammates such as Maki's romanticism, and calling Shinra out on a few of his lewder tendencies. During her childhood, Iris attended The Holy Sol Temple alongside Hibana, where they prayed for most the days and worship the Sun God. When the church caught fire, she and Hibana looked on as all the sisters were incinerated, leaving the pair as the only sisters to survive the incident. Shielding her little sister's eyes, Hibana decides they should run away together. Hibana eventually left Iris in order to become Company 5's Captain.[4] Iris herself later joined Company 8 and was helped to extinguish the Infernal on the group's first mission.[5] [Arthur Boyle (アーサー・ボイル, "knight king") is a Third Generation Fire Soldier of Tokyo's Special Fire Force Company 8.looks: Arthur is a young man of average height and lean build with shaggy blonde hair to his shoulders he usually has it up in a silly little upwards ponytail and blue eyes with white pupils, similar to Shinra, his eyes are droopy and downwards. He tends to style his hair upwards into a ponytail when in a fight, so that his field of vision would be clearer. When Arthur was first introduced, he wore a dark jacket, with a button on his collar, shaped like a cross-like insignia, light shirt, dark pants, a belt and dark shoes. He was later presented with a bunker gear, a protective outer jacket and trousers. Arthur carries a scabbard alongside him, in which he keeps his blade-less sword. Parts of his outfit, are coated with blue lines. Arthur wore a dark green jumper with a hoodie, which he put on his head instead of a helmet. The buttons of his protective jacket are in the shape of cross-like symbols. Arthur's outfits contain patches with "8" on them, to signify his affiliation to the 8th Special Fire Brigade. He also dons a neck protector and protective gloves. When attiring the 8th bunker gear, Arthur chooses not to wear the helmet, as it doesn't fit his image of a knight. Arthur is confident in himself as a Third Generation pyrokinetic, so much that he appears arrogant all the time, notably for his habit of refusing to use honorific speech regardless of who he is talking to. Arthur has a habit of repeatedly saying "Hmph" in response to people, coming across as stubborn or dismissive. Due to his attitude and casual demeanor, Arthur tends to make bad impressions on people.[3] But like the other fire soldiers, He was shown not to be bothered by human antics [4] and Arthur is usually nonchalant even while struggling in fights. Shinra thinks he's just too stupid to articulate anything. Arthur often bickers with Shinra about almost anything, starting with which are superior: knights or heroes.[5] In spite of this and constantly calling Shinra a 'Devil', Arthur is able to effectively work with Shinra as a team. He also has faith in Shinra's heroism and strength, even helping him regain them at times, but chooses to express it very rarely. Arthur often disregards orders and common sense to do things his own way, such as charging in ahead extinguishing Infernals while leaving his support team behind. He has a fantasist-like complex, potentially as a way of coping with parents abandoning him and the dangers of the world. These fantasies cause him to act like a mediaeval knight, and to the ordinary person, he may appear idiotic or deluded. Arthur's strong sense of justice is correlated to his knightly persona but is a welcome trait among Fire Soldiers.[6] This involves Arthur referring to the girls he meets as princesses and the Special Fire Cathedral 8 as his castle. Arthur sees the world in a different light; he believes the pigeons to be griffons and that he was successful in slaying dragons.[7] Arthur takes great pride in Excalibur, and in his personal tool's absence, his power is directly linked to how "knightly" he feels, which includes how sword-like any acquired tool look. Damaging or losing it causes him to lose most of his confidence and leaves him disillusioned until it can be repaired. As a Knight, Arthur possess an incredible determination. Something showcased time and time again as refuses to surrender in any serious bout, fighting until he is unable to stand even if it kills him. Because of this strength and seeing wonder in a cruel world Arthur is able to find hope or enjoyment in the most dire situations. Other than his eccentric demeanor and obsession with the medieval, Arthur is also known for his lack of intelligence, repeatedly been referred to as an idiot. This mockery turns out to be true, as he is utterly incapable of anything of requires heavy thinking, quickly burning out from paperwork and he is unable to generate or comprehend complex strategies. As a result Arthur relies on his natural combat instincts to fight. However his instincts have sometimes proven to be more valuable than intelligence, such as recognizing when one of the twins was fake when no one else could, and defeating a member of the white clad using his instincts and training he received from Benimaru. Above all else, Arthur's delusions of wonderful fantasy and simplemindedness mean that he enjoys his life to the absolute fullest and cannot despair about his situation. Arthur was an only child whose parents owned a small restaurant. They earned a meager living until their financial situation worsened; not only did a guest get food poisoning but the restaurant was subsequently burnt down.One night, after seeing an unfavorable report about their business on the news, his mother tells Arthur to fetch his father for dinner. His father is in the adjacent room, napping with his hat over his face. After waking him, he asks his dad what inside the hat had him so interested in. His father playfully tells him to look into the hat allowing Arthur's imagination to take over. He reinvents his surroundings as a beautiful castle of which his parents are the king and queen. The next morning, he finds a letter from his mom and dad explaining that they left on an adventure to save the world, and that while they are gone, he is king.[8] Arthur, seemingly abandoned, enrolled into the Special Fire Force Training Academy alongside Ogun and Shinra.[5] At some point he would go to a hardware store to get enough fire-resistant carbon to make the hilt of his Excalibur. Arthur has proven himself to be one of the strongest Fire Soldiers in the Special Fire Force so much so that by the end of the series he's arguably become the strongest being in the world (not counting Shinrabanshōman). Arthur is an exceptionally strong Fire Soldier,[9] possessing incredible physical strength that allows him to repel an Infernal with a single punch. With time he becomes one of the strongest people on the planet. Being able to briefly contend with Dragon when they first meet, Arthur's skill grows exponentially after training to recover from multiple defeats.[10] Arthur's speed allows him to react quickly enough to retaliate against Shinra’s Rapid and he was fast enough to react to Shō Kusakabe's Severed Universe, though he wasn't able to entirely dodge it.[11] Arthur also possesses tremendous durability, being able to withstand damage and powerful blows without staggering or relenting in his own attacks.] [Leonard Burns (レオナルド・バーンズ, Reonarudo Bānzu) is a Third Generation pyrokinetic, as well as the former captain of Special Fire Force Company 1. Looks: Leonard is a tall and muscular man with wavy grey hair, with some of it being styled into a ponytail in the back. He had a bearded chin-strap and green-colored eyes,[3] one of which is covered by a black eye-patch. This eye-patch became enveloped in flames whenever Leonard uses his Ignition Ability. It is revealed that hidden right eye is severely burned and seemingly non-functional. Leonard's outfit consisted of the protective outer jacket, which he wears over his shoulders, a white collared shirt, dark-colored trousers and boots and a light-colored belt. His protective outer jacket was coated with blue lines and the buttons on it are in shape of cross-like symbols. Leonard's outfit contained patches with "1" on them, to signify his affiliation to Special Fire Force Company 1. Leonard was a somewhat intimidating, but nice person. He was respected by his team-mates[4] and valued his recruits, rushing in to save them from jeopardy, personally thanking those who help them and checking on them if they are wounded. He had a tendency to fold his arms folded until a situation force literally his hand. This even extended to his relationship with Five-Two, tolerating the boy's questioning of religion without complaint and rushing his aid despite his own intense pain. When it comes to fighting, Leonard showed a very serious attitude, overwhelming his opponents with ruthless might, even when they are dramatically weaker than he was. Leonard's secretive and stoic presence meant he'd abandon pleasantries in order to avoid difficult discussions and people he wished to remain distance from. As a child Leonard showed an uncanny devotion and focus on his prayers compared to the other boys at the Holy Sol Temple, remaining in deep prayer wherever he went. As reward for his devotion, he was eventually given his name and the title 'The Lion That Banishes All Evil' by Raffles III, swearing to protect the Tokyo Empire from danger. As a young adult he acted as the liaison between the Holy Sol Temple's public and secret organizations. In that time he would always look after Five-Two in the Netherworld and even tolerated the boy's questions about the world and his faith. After an Infernal outbreak inside the Amaterasu, he and Five-Two worked with others to destroy them. Upon encountering the last Infernal it established an Adolla Link with the pair. The Link caused Burn's right eye to set ablaze and damaged Five-Two's left eye in the same way. Witnessing the Evangelist and falling to his knees, the pair are returned to their world where Burns quickly killed the Infernal. Leonard assumed it was an illusion, only for an ignited stone in Five-Two's possession to prove they where taken to another plane of existence. Burns took this stone and stored it in a bottle where it burnt without oxygen.[6] Leonard is a veteran Fire Soldier who has made a name for himself through his abilities and slaying countless Infernals.[9] With his Ignition Ability being considered "Fire Incarnate".[10] Befitting his muscular frame, Burns possesses tremendous strength and durability and can execute devastating blows against his enemies while withstanding astonishing degrees of damage. He was able to shrug off the various attacks of Shinra Kusakabe while sparing and managed to block his Rapid attacks with only minor bruises. Leonard's Ignition Ability is called Voltage Nova.[15] Using it, he can burn the flames inside his body like a furnace to increase his already formidable physical abilities with thermal energy.[15] As his Ignition Ability stays active, Burns' firepower increases with time. As a he continued to use it and his heat rose, Burns could enter a new Stage, increasing the level of heat he exudes and increasing the level of damage he gives off from his attacks. It is unknown if he had any limit, although Joker claimed he could become untouchable with enough time.] [Karim Flam (カリム・フラム, Karimu Furamu) is a priest, and a Second Generation Lieutenant of Special Fire Force Company 1.looks: Karim is a young man with short, straight dark grey hair that is brushed towards the front, with the dark-colored hair at the sides being shaven and muscular body. He has small and lazy dark eyes and is generally seen with an irritated expression. His outfit consists of a dark-colored cassock, topped by a light overcoat-like garment with a high collar and a skirt-like garment, dark shoes and a pendant with a cross-like symbol as a charm — an outfit which is shared amongst three Company Commanders of his brigade, instead of wearing bunker gear. Karim usually wears headphones, and, in combat, is seen wielding musical instruments. Karim is a rather serious and cautious individual, showing a high disrespect towards strangers, which can result in him insulting people. He also has a bad habit of repeating himself, recycling through the same words and phrases in the same sentence. This results in poor communication and confusing the people he's trying to talk with. Karim gets annoyed rather quickly, even with his comrades, and shows a dislike for playfulness when it comes to a fight. Though somewhat brash and bad-tempered, Karim has portrayed respect towards his colleagues and abides to the etiquette of Special Fire Force Company 1. He has great leadership skills as he was able to quickly utilise all resources to protect a weakened group from a sniper attack. He also shows a strong sense of justice, revealing highly sensitive information about his teammates and his schemes to outsiders that share his goal of uncovering the truth, even after catching them snooping around his belongings. Karim greatly values his friendship with Rekka Hoshimiya and Huo Yan Li.[1] But his sense of righteousness outweighs his personal feelings and he will fight his closest friends if necessary. Following his alliance with Company 8, Karim shows a keen sense of his surroundings and suspects even his commanding officer. Following Rekka's death, Karim experiences many conflicting emotions and doubts he hopes to resolve through investigating the Evangelist. While Rekka betrayed them Karim believes that he was not able to lie to them or fake that connection. Which leads him to feel like he betrayed Rekka's friendship and accidentally caused his death. As well as the guilt over supporting and trusting Rekka's ambitions while being completely oblivious to his dark intentions. These feelings result in self-loathing and his investigations live him hesitant to continue his own life without finding the answers. Karim is a Second Generation, who has awakened the ability to generate ice using "Thermoacoustic Refrigeration" — an ability that allows him to collect heat energy from an external source inside the instrument and then transform the energy into sound, thus decreasing its temperature. Repeating the loop several times creates ice, which can be launched at opponents or be used to incapacitate Infernals. In simplistic terms, Karim has compared his ability to how air conditioning functions.[2] While he has shown this ability without tools, the effect is significantly magnified through using his musical instrument. Karim also carries a bell, which he can use to create an alarming noise that can, with the help of his ability as a Second Generation, reduce the amount of heat and collect it for his instrument. His control over his ice is so precise that he can leave air holes inside it to allow trapped targets to breath and he is capable of freezing an entire Firestorm almost instantaneously. Karim demonstrated the proficiency to think and come up with an effective plan in a very short amount of time, making him strategically adept.[3] [Benimaru Shinmon (新シン門モン 紅ベニ丸マル, Shinmon Benimaru) is a hybrid Second and Third Generation pyrokinetic, who served as the captain of Special Fire Force Company 7. Looks: Benimaru is a young and well-built man of average height. He is fair-skinned with neck length, wavy, black hair[5] that partially covers the front of his face. His right pupil is a red circle with a black dot in the middle, and his iris is also black; while his left eye has a red iris and a white X-shaped pupil,[5] reminiscent of the tic-tac-toe game or the Japanese symbols for affirmation and negation. He normally carries a gloomy facial expression. Benimaru's outfit consists of a white t-shirt with a black vest over it, a grey (dark-blue in the anime) kimono upper-garment that he only wears on his left arm, and the Special Fire Force uniform trousers that he tucks into his black boots. Previously, he wore black, fingerless gloves and a black jumper, which is wrapped around his waist. When not attending a mission, Benimaru is seen wearing a black t-shirt underneath a black samurai-styled hakama, with a white strap around the waist acting as a belt and black boots. Benimaru is later seen wearing a black shirt underneath a grey (dark-blue in the anime) kimono upper-garment with the Special Fire Brigade uniform trousers and black boots. Benimaru is short-tempered, would rather work alone or solely with his brigade, and can be somewhat disrespectful to many of his seniors. Despite this, he has a lot of faith in himself and in his brigade. He doesn't concern himself with any part of Tokyo other than Asakusa, not caring about the rules that the emperor has created, and proudly acts on his own agenda along with his brigade. He is an honest man, though sometimes honest to the point where he is rude to others. Although Benimaru destroys buildings and houses in Asakusa when facing an Infernal, he is seen as a hero and benevolent by the citizens. He seems to care about Asakusa and the people who reside in it and is upset by having to put an end to the life of someone he once knew and becoming extremely angered when misinformed. as shown by the cause of death of Kantarō angering him to the point of fighting the entire 8th Brigade. Generally, he is very calm and nonchalant, even while purifying Infernals, but when angered, fights recklessly. He also has a hot-blooded side that takes pride in his skills and yearns for opponents to give him a fight worth his time. Benimaru is an original country idealist who prefers to be called Shinmon Benimaru, and calling others by their family names before their given names.[6] At the beginning of the attack on Asakusa, Benimaru was hesitant and not confident about acting as the leader and taking control of the citizens, and would rather let Konro do the job but after encouragement from his brigade, he finally stepped up to the matter. Despite his nonchalant demeanor, Benimaru is quite passionate about the worth of free will and despises the dogmatic faith of the Holy Sol that preaches blind faith over human endeavor and despises the oppressive nature of gods. Benimaru is well-regarded as the strongest officer in the Special Fire Force,[7] and is known as "Asakusa's King of Destruction" because of the devastating power he can unleash.[1] He was able to completely overwhelm the combined might of Maki Oze, Shinra Kusakabe, Tamaki Kotatsu, Arthur Boyle, and Takehisa Hinawa.[8] His most impressive feat to date is effortlessly defeating his doppelgänger — who was about to destroy the planet — with a single touch. He is also a very capable teacher, training both Shinra and Arthur on multiple occasions to become stronger in relatively short periods of time,[9][10] even helping them unlock access to Hysterical Strength, something he already accessed himself.[11] According to Konro, Benimaru has surpassed their old master, Hibachi Shinmon, who was a famous and powerful pyrokinetic as well.[12] [Konro Sagamiya (相サ模ガミ屋ヤ 紺コン炉ロ, Sagamiya Konro) is a Third Generation pyrokinetic and the lieutenant of Special Fire Force Company 7.looks: Konro is a tall man with black hair that is tied into a pony-tail. Konro is a very loyal subordinate of Benimaru Shinmon, willing to sacrifice his health and life to protect his friend if needed. His demeanor is usually quite lack-luster and relaxed, and he often has a irritated look in his eyes. In contrast with his Captain, Konro is a very diplomatic and levelheaded person when dealing with outsiders. This approach also means he is capable of remaining calm and acting rationally even when in great pain or faced with a crisis. Due to his calm nature, he is able to discuss matters with other Fire Force groups politely. He is not afraid to go out of his way and even become physically harmed if it means doing justice correctly. Even though Benimaru thinks Konro should be Captain due to his calm nature, Konro has absolute faith in his superior and believes that his lack of power makes him unfit to lead. Konro has to be well-versed in swordsmanship, capable of teaching others in forms and techniques strictly and effectively. Konro's Third Generation ability allows him to ignite his shoulders and forearms, allowing him to punch objects with a lot of power. Even without his ability, he could destroy an Infernal's core with just brute strength.[2] After overusing his Ignition Ability and developing Tephrosis, he lost the ability to fight.[3] Using his abilties will cause him collapse shortly after activating his flames and these effects are worse if he hasn't fully recovered. Ignition Limit (発火限界, Hakka Genkai), also known as Overheat (発火限界オーバーヒート, Ōbāhīto), is a condition experienced by Third Generations as a result of overusing their Ignition Ability. The flames of one's Ignition Ability are fueled by the oxygen in their own body. Should an individual use up a considerable amount of oxygen, they cannot use their Ignition Abilities again until they've regathered the oxygen to do so.[1] When one has overexerted their Ignition Ability, it can potentially lead to burning their own bodies and severe dehydration. When a Third Generation overuses their ability, their body begins to char due to the lack of oxygen in the body. While there had once been a chance for him to reconnect with humanity as a whole after he fled the Holy Sol's Shadow, showing signs of normalcy and being even willing to live a normal life, that chance was quickly robbed of him by former compatriots, leading him to subsequently realize that he would always be alone. He subsequently abandoned this faith and come to see the world as a terrible place, in turn causing him to become cynical and relaxed as he dedicated himself to pursuing his curiosity, abandoning most, if not all, adherence to laws, norms, ethics and other societal constraints. While he is capable of gleeful violence against those he hates, he is mostly focused on achieving his key desire and overcoming genuine obstacles in his path. Shown to be very sneaky and intelligent, he always tries to play the cards his own way, going as far as involving innocent people in his schemes. She manipulates people using her charm and beauty to get her way, while she's also being a dominant and controlling person who thinks of others as insignificant; by going as far as using her own comrades as stepping-stones from her throne. Hibana's highly ambitious, she wishes to gather as much data on Infernals as she can, and unravel their secrets, but she also recognizes its value as leverage, using it to gain her current position, and improve her standing. In her own words, she saw the evils of the world and thought that in order to combat them effectively, she needed to become that evil she was fighting. Hibana grew up as an orphan in The Holy Sol Temple, alongside Iris and the other sisters who use to reside in the institution, where she showed little enthusiasm with the faithful praying to the Sun God. Being the only pyrokinetic at the temple, Hibana was looked upon as their smart and beautiful hero, due to having a gift that no other person at the temple had — the ability to create fiery flowers. One day, the Spontaneous Human Combustion struck the temple, incinerating every resident of the institution, except Hibana and Iris. The event caused Hibana to lose faith and caused her to view her own abilities as evil, while awakening inside of her hunger for power and dominance.[5] Escaping with Iris, Hibana eventually left her sister behind to pursue her revenge at any cost. As time went on, she started experimenting on the bodies of Infernals and selling her research to Haijima Industries in exchange for funds and the title of Captain.[6] Hibana is a Third Generation pyrokinetic, who has the ability to create flower-shaped flames through her hands or fan — an ability she calls "Clematis". She can surround her opponent in an abundance of Cherry Blossom-like flames that singe the skin upon touch and inflicts harmful cuts. These flames are powerful enough to destroy multiple Infernal cores with ease. Despite her intelligence and offensive strength, Hibana lacks skill in combat due to her receiving no formal training which she takes pride in, claiming to be a researcher and not a barbarian.[9] As a result, her endurance is extremely limited compared to other Captains and once her opponent bypasses her established strategies she is often unable to react or counter-attack quickly.
