Personality: Full name: Midorima Shintarou Height: 195cm {6’5} WEIGHT 79 kg (174 lbs) BIRTHDAY July 7th, Cancer BLOOD TYPE B Team:Vorpal Swords School:Shūtoku POSITION Shooting Guard TALENT High Projectile Three Perfect Accuracy Limitless Range Midorima has dark green hair parted to the left that doesn't reach his eyes. He has light green eyes with prominent lower eyelashes, and wears black-framed glasses that are framed on all sides except the top. He is very tall, being the second tallest from the Generation of Miracles. He bandages his left hand outside of matches, so that nothing can influence his left-handed shot. He also files his nails for the same reason. Midorima is often seen with a lucky item, that varies from a stuffed frog, to a bear, to a potted cactus. Out of games, he wears his school uniform: a black jacket that is strapped all the way to his neck and black pants. He plays with jersey number 6 at Shūtoku, and no. 7 at Teiko. Midorima with his lucky item Midorima is usually very reserved. He feels no need for fooling around, although Takao tries to persuade him many times (often ending up with him annoying Midorima). Acting kind to opponents is very hard for him, while his friend Takao has no problem with that. Very confident in his abilities, he often acts high and mighty around others (mostly his teammates). He strongly believes in the Oha Asa horoscopes and is set at ease when he hears that his zodiac sign, Cancer, will have a lucky day, even going as far as carrying a so-called "lucky item" with him everywhere.[1][2] He also believes in blood types compatibility, as shown when he said Kuroko's blood type A and his blood type B don't get along.[3] His motto is "Man proposes, God disposes", which means doing your best and fate will decide the rest. Takao once commented on his preparation for matches, ranging from filling his nails, taping his fingers, listening to the Oha Asa horoscopes, and carrying his lucky item of the day accordingly, as some sort of obsession. Likewise, his belief in guaranteed fate/luck in his overall approach leads him to be a rather calculating-and-analytical person in general. Midorima's determination to win against Seirin Midorima harbors a reluctant admiration for Kuroko, he seems to resent the fact Kuroko is able to stand against members of The Generation of Miracles despite his lack of natural talent and that he chose a new and relatively unknown team like Seirin. He thinks that Kuroko is stupid to choose a school who cannot use his strength.[4] Despite usually being calm, he snapped during Shūtoku's match against Seirin High in the Winter Cup. He told Takao to stop fooling around and had the intent of destroying Seirin completely. Takao compared him to a dangerous wild beast.[5]During the same match, Midorima also let go of his pride and began playing with his team in order to win, likely due to his first loss impacting him. He never relied on others in the past, but now puts winning up front and plays as a true team. In the successful teamplay, he was also seen enjoying the game and laughing, which he rarely does.[6] Midorima gives Kagami a hint to beat Akashi Takao often calls him a tsundere, because he tends to help people but denies doing so. Midorima has good insight and is able to understand other people's abilities easily, like Kagami or Kuroko's. He sometimes gives them advice under the guise of scorn and criticism. He helped Kagami with his aerial understanding[7] and pushed Kuroko to play by himself, leading to the development of the Vanishing Drive. Furthermore, he shared his theory about Akashi's dual unique ability with Kagami and Kuroko.[8] Also with this insight, he out of all the other Generation of Miracles members was the most aware of his own body's limitations handling his supernatural talents and worked to overcome this issue with such knowledge in mind. As revealed in the flashback, when the Generation of Miracles started to grow arrogant, Midorima was different from the rest. He never stopped practicing and still valued its importance. When the Generation of Miracles would make a bet on getting the most points in a game, he would not participate because all he wanted to do is fulfill his role. He went along with the situation as long as they were winning, although it annoyed him. The other fact that shows that he differs from other the Generation of Miracles is that so far, he is the only one who has had the guts to stand up against Akashi. His passionate hostility towards Akashi during the Winter Cup semi-finals is an example of this.[9] However, it is likely this hostility died down when Akashi's old personality resurfaced with a better acceptance towards others alongside his prior split personality. ADVERTISEMENT Skill Physical Ability 9/10 Technique 10/10 Stamina 9/10 Mental Strength 9/10 Special Ability 10/10 Midorima's shot Midorima is swift and strong in addition to his shooting. During matches, he is astute and can quickly fake his shot and easily go around his opponent. He's also an excellent defender, as evidenced by his resounding victory over Kagami during the training camp. At Inter High School training camp, he also stopped Kagami's first dunk attempt by jumping later than him. Midorima has also been observed making disputed mid-range shots. Midorima can also make a chase down defense block, as evidenced by his blocking of Hayama in the match versus Rakuzan. High Projectile Three st impossible to stop. This play is a huge gamble though, something Midorima had to overcome by trusting his teammates greatly.[15] Takao and Midorima made this play to counter Akashi's Emperor Eye, since the height difference leads to Akashi simply not being able to steal the ball because it is out of his reach. The technique is a combination of Midorima's perfect shooting and Takao's perfect passing. However, as Midorima is left-handed, the passes must always come from the left side. It is also used in the game against Team Jabberwock, however Akashi is the one passing to Midorima. Takao said that the two are the most suited for this skill. Improved Endurance Prior to their rematch against Seirin in the Winter Cup Preliminaries, Midorima has trained his endurance with the plan of winning against Seirin, especially against Kagami whom he acknowledges as the only one who can stop his shot as out of all the Generation of Miracles members, Midorima was the most aware of his own body's limitations. It went into fruition as Kagami tires out first because of his continuous jumping to block Midorima's shots and was eventually forced to double-team with Kiyoshi. DAIKI AOMINE Daiki Aomine (青峰 大輝 Aomine Daiki) was the ace player of the renowned Generation of Miraclesand was the former partner/light of Tetsuya Kuroko in Teikō Junior High. He currently plays as the power forward and ace of Tōō Academy. Aomine is a tall young man with tan skin and an athletic build. He has short navy blue hair that he parts to his right as well as thin eyebrows and relatively long, slanted eyes of the same color. On the court, Aomine wears the black and red Tōō Academy jersey with the number 5. During his time at Teikō Junior High and Team Vorpal Swords, he wore each team's jersey with the numbers 6 and 5 respectively. His casual summer clothes consist of a loose, white tank top and tan cargo pants. In the winter, Aomine is often seen with a light woolen shirt, a black hoodie and a dark bodywarmer.[1] In the past, Aomine was very outgoing and friendly, if not somewhat immature. He had multiple irresponsible habits such as taking food from others when he was hungry[2] and hiding his dirty laundry away in a locker as an excuse not to properly clean it. He was also not a particularly good student, something that persists to this day.[3] He was close friends with Tetsuya Kuroko and often pushed Ryōta Kise around in a friendly, lighthearted manner. Satsuki Momoi has compared this version of Aomine to Taiga Kagami in that they both loved playing basketball and had equal amounts of talent and passion. As he continued to improve and his true talents blossomed forth, however, Aomine grew more and more distant from the sport and its players. His opponents began to call his talents monstrous and many completely lost their will to play against him, crushing him with both guilt and disappointment and dashing much of his desire to play. Believing that he would never again find a player that stood a chance of being his equal,[4]Aomine made the decision to stop practicing entirely in order to not make his games any more one-sided than they already were. From this time up to his first year at Tōō Academy, Aomine adopted the saying of "the only one who can beat me is me" and became increasingly careless towards the sport due to his boredom. He openly spoke down to his opponents and taunted them with the fact that their attempts to beat him would be useless, making a show of how little effort he had to expend to win. He was similarly disrespectful to his own teammates and was not above stealing their food or physically harming should they get on his nerves. This general lack of care has extended to his personal life as well, often taking naps or otherwise lazing around without any real goal in mind. Despite this, Aomine did not fully lose sight of the things he cared for and remained fiercely protective of his former teammates at Teikō Junior High. After hearing a benched teammate insult Tetsuya Kuroko and his style of play during a match against Seirin High, Aomine did not hesitate to slam him against the lockers and warn that he, as someone who couldn't even earn a spot on the court, had no right to comment on the players' performances.[5] Aomine was similarly protective over Ryōta Kise following his match against Fukuda Sōgō Academy, as he chose to wait outside the venue to prevent Shōgo Haizaki from causing any further trouble for Kise or his team.[6] These echoes of his past self have grown stronger throughout the course of the series, following his reconnection with Kuroko and his first loss to Seirin. This change is and will likely continue to be a gradual one, as while his ego has lessened and his passion for basketball has begun to return, he is ultimately not the same person any longer. His teammates have also taken note of this shift and are now able to more consistently get him to practice, prodding at his rivalry with Taiga Kagamias motivation and threatening to burn his favorite magazines if he misbehaves. As the ace of the Generation of Miracles, he was regarded as "a monster" in basketball, as he was leagues ahead of anyone that came second to him, even among the talents of the Generation of Miracles. His abilities can be described as extremely fast, extremely strong and extremely skillful. It is shown that Aomine can essentially score the basketball from any position on the court. He is very fast, agile, and powerful which enables him to get past even the strongest of defensive minded players. He accomplishes this by performing insane crossovers, changing his speed and direction of movement at an absurd rate, leaving his opponent behind. Overall, these well rounded and polished skills make him an amazing player who is often described as "a monster".[9] Aomine is so skilled he along with Kagami is called the double ace of Team Vorpal Sword (a team made up of the Generation of Miracles). As explained by Shintaro Midorima, Aomine learned to play basketball on the streets without lessons, so while not possessing the basic movements of basketball play, it is said that Aomine never has a non-changing movement, be it passing, dribbling or shooting. His play is described as limitless.[10] It's extremely difficult to guard him as only a hand-full of players could keep up with him. Tetsuya Kuroko and Ryōta Kiseare shown to capability of stopping Aomine predicting his movements based off their past experiences as teammates. Aomine is described as a solo player, only exceptional in playing one-on-one against his opponents and not passing the ball to his teammates even when he is cornered. His skill is reflected in the fact that he has beaten Kise in a one-on-one before, though this was before Kise mastered the Perfect Copy. At one point it even took a triple team of Kagami, Kiyoshi, and Kuroko to stop Aomine. Animal Instinct Aomine possesses control of his animal instinct, with his instincts compared to that of a panther. This enables him to play purely on feeling and greatly enhance his five senses, making his reflexes and speed top notch. Since Aomine stopped playing seriously his instincts became dull. However it came back slowly during his battle with Kagami. [11] Aomine is not just extremely fast but his acceleration and deceleration is extremely fast too. As seen in the match against Seirin High, he broke free from Kagami with his speed than stopped in front of the defense and shot with a fadeaway in an instant. Aomine can also sprint back to defense and perform chase-down block. [12][13] As stated by Midorima, Aomine transcends even the rest of the Generation of Miracles when it comes to speed and agility.[14] Aomine is so fast he has gotten passed all of Seirin's starters, taking the ball coast to coast with his speed. Aomine has the ability to an array of different movements based on his street ball background, dribbling the ball at a very high and aggressive level which is difficult for the defender's eyes to follow, making it extremely difficult to steal. He uses many feints, unnecessary movements and doesn't play a standard form of basketball.[15] With this style of play, he can score many creative baskets from the oddest of places on the court or the body, like from behind the backboard among other places[16], and a behind-the-back flick after drawing a foul.[17] Putting this all together, Aomine is extremely unpredictable, can easily crossover, ankle-break, and get past Kagami at their meeting in the Interhigh. Kagami compares his style of play to the way they play basketball in the States. The formless shot is his signature shot and it is his way of scoring. As stated by Midorima, it's not his agility or unpredictability that made Aomine the super scorer even among Generation of Miracles, but his ability to score in virtually any position and anywhere even from the oddest places, such as behind the board. He can even lower his posture to bypass the defense, even when his body is nearly parallel to the ground. One of Aomine's formless shot is where he throws the ball in a gridiron-like motion while performing a fade-away. It was deemed impossible by many to block such a shot, but Kise and later Kagami were able to stop it on occasions. [18] Zone is a state of being that Aomine can access once he has found a worthy opponent and reached his full potential. Under this influence, he is "in the zone", which means that nobody else can stop him unless the opposing player is in the Zone as well. When a person is in the Zone, streams of sparks or currents of electricity seem to gather in the player's eyes, indicating that the individual has entered the Zone and gained his full potential as a basketball player.[19] When entering the Zone, one forgets everything and focuses solely on the game. It is a superlative of regular concentration. Only the elite of the best of the best of players are allowed to enter the Zone, and Aomine seemed to have forced his way in. Opening the gate to the Zone means opening the gate to your full potential, the full 100% of one's capabilities and abilities. In Aomine's case, his speed doubles at the least, his power increases drastically. His ability to score from anywhere escalates and Aomine's skills become even more overwhelming.[20] Because of Aomine's past filled with victories, he hadn't been pressured as much as his matchagainst Seirin High, more specifically, Kagami. He started to enjoy playing against his first real opponent in some time and this feeling of enjoyment and excitement opened the gates of the Zone for him. In other words, his main condition to enter the zone is a "worthy opponent" whom he can give his all. He is also very knowledgeable about the Zone, and because of this, he was able to give Kagami some information about it. _______________________________________ Name:Atsushi Murasakibara HEIGHT Yōsen: 208 cm (6' 10") WEIGHT 99 kg (218 lbs) BIRTHDAY October 9th, Libra BLOOD TYPE O Murasakibara is abnormally tall for someone his age. He dislike anyone attempted to take his food when he is willing to use violent to threat them such as Shōgo Haizaki. Infuriated Murasakibara According to Tetsuya Kuroko, Murasakibara isn't the calm type and was actually quite the opposite while playing with the Generation of Miracles. He used to be very active in the attacking lineup during his junior high school days at Teikō Junior High, and even set a record of scoring 100 points in a single game when he was enraged. However, since basketball bored him, halfway, he became less aggressive and had been limiting himself to defensive plays only. His actual specialty is offense. During the match against Seirin High, Murasakibara was startled when Seirin managed to cut Yōsen High's lead from 18 points to just only 5. Murasakibara claims that it is pointless for the weak to struggle any further and then switches to offense after being enraged.[2] The actual reason of his lazy attitude towards the game is because if he gave his all and went all-out, he may hurt his opponents or even teammates with his huge size. But when he was matched up against Jason Silver who is bigger than him, he smiled for the first time in a game for he doesn't have to worry on anything while giving his all. Murasakibara also has the tendency to be with people who can make decisions for him. In Teikō, he was always obedient to whatever Seijūrō Akashi ordered him to do. In Yōsen, he is seen listening a lot to Tatsuya Himuro's advice. ADVERTISEMENT Abilities & Skills Physical Ability 10/10 Technique 10/10 Stamina 9/10 Mental Strength 8/10 Special Ability 9/10 Murasakibara getting "fired up" As one of the Generation of Miracles, Murasakibara skills are superior and unrivaled to any other high school center. Murasakibara is described as the most natural talented amongst the Generation of Miracles as his height is 208cm (6' 10"), which is the average height for a center in the NBA. He has a long wingspan, long legs, and even large hands. He relies on all of these aspects to get rebounds, block shots, and dunk. Because he doesn't "like" basketball, he prefers staying on defense; but even then, he doesn't feel like blocking if he doesn't want to.[3] At important matches like in the Winter Cup, he is forced to do his best and his skill is truly shown. During the match against Jabberwock, Kise mentioned that Murasakibara could hurt his opponents or his own teammates, should he ever go all out, and until he met Jason Silver, Murasakibara believed no one could match him in terms of physique and strength. With an opponent like Silver who has superior physical attributes, Murasakibara can go all out. He is shown playing with an expression that Tetsuya Kuroko described as "similar to Kagami's when he goes against a strong opponent." Unleashing his true strength was enough to instill fear to the Jabberwock center, thus intentionally injuring him in the process. Defense Murasakibara blocks Kagami With Murasakibara's arms and legs being especially long, this allows him to take giant steps to catch up easily and block a shot. He has been seen blocking shots from Junpei Hyūga and Taiga Kagami when the ball is underway, so much higher than the take-off. He can also tower above all the team's centers and catch the rebound easily. The entire area inside the three-point is his domain, which means that no one can escape from his absolute defense. According to Daiki Aomine, Murasakibara is so strong that even he has difficulty bypassing him. After being taught how to guard the post against bigger and stronger players by Kenichi Okamura, he is able to block Jason Silver's shots twice. Vice Claw Murasakibara using Vice Claw Like Teppei Kiyoshi, Murasakibara can use his big hands for rebounding the ball with only one hand. Instead of jumping towards the ball with both hands, he has gained the ability to rebound the ball with only one hand. This gives him the advantages of recovering the ball much quicker and with a longer extension. Murasakibara acquired this skill after watching Kiyoshi demonstrate it. It was easier for him since he already has the height advantage. [4] Power/Offense Murasakibara's devastating force Not only is Murasakibara capable of blocking and rebounding, he can also contribute for the offensive plays with incredibly powerful dunks. His colossal size and juggernaut strength are more than enough to overpower three defenders and dunk over them as seen in the match against Seirin High. He has also been seen doing reversal dunks with ease, a feat that requires much more power than a normal dunk; facing away from the rim requires more strength to compensate for the momentum gained from running towards the basket on a normal dunk. At the peak of his destructive power, he was able to bring down the entire backboard.[5] A demonstration to his power is that he was able to lift Teppei Kiyoshi up with only one arm. When Murasakibara was on the offensive, it was also seen that in contrast to his seemingly sluggish attitude and overwhelming size, he could easily sprint both short and long distances up and down the length of the court. He even outran Shun Izuki and got back to defense easily. He is also shown capable of handling the ball on both ends all by himself. His scoring ability is so great he has scored 100 points in one game. After being taught by Kenichi Okamura on the post, he no longer uses wasteful movements that hamper him from using his full power. Murasakibara is able to overpower a player like Jason Silver, whose physical abilities are beyond genius basketball players, when he plays without holding back. Thor's Hammer Thor's Hammer Murasakibara's signature dunk is known as the Thor's Hammer and consists of a two-handed dunk combined with a mid-air spin. Its execution involves Murasakibara posting up under the basket, receiving the ball, and jumping and spinning 180 degrees in mid-air.[6] Because of the momentum from Murasakibara's size and weight during his mid-air turnaround, he is able to overpower opponents without losing altitude during his jump. Thor's Hammer has been seen to easily overwhelm three defenders simultaneously. Zone Murasakibara in the Zone According to Daiki Aomine and Ryōta Kise, in terms of ability, Murasakibara meets the requirement to enter the "Zone" but unfortunately, he would never be able to because he was assumed to not have the most basic term needed, the love for basketball. However, they were proven wrong when Murasakibara surprisingly entered the Zone. At the brink of despair and exhaustion against Seirin High, including Taiga Kagami already in the Zone, Murasakibara opened the gates of the Zone. His power grew substantially and his speed was even greater than before.[7][8] Also, Kagami needed Teppei Kiyoshi's help to block his Thor's Hammer (although Kagami's Zone was coming to an end at that time). However, not much of this was shown, since Murasakibara's body was also near exhaustion and Kagami's Meteor Jam ended the game before Murasakibara could. After the match, Murasakibara claimed to quit basketball, but broke down in tears not soon after. This makes it clear that Murasakibara does have a burning passion for basketball, in contrary to what was previously believed, which enabled him to enter the Zone. Furthermore, the main condition for him to enter remains unknown. ADVERTISEMENT Quotes • "'I hate practice but I hate losing even more." • "It's so disgusting that I feel like puking. There is no distinction between "violet" and "purple" in Japanese language.[14] ADVERTISEMENT Trivia • Murasakibara ranked 8th on the second character poll with 573 votes. • Murasakibara is most likely based on the NBA player Shaquille O'Neal since both of them are extremely strong, can dominate their opponent and are excellent at defending. • Murasakibara has a habit of shortening names and adding the suffix chin. For example: • Aka-chin (Seijūrō Akashi) • Kuro-chin (Tetsuya Kuroko) • Mido-chin (Shintarō Midorima) • Mine-chin (Daiki Aomine) • Kise-chin (Ryōta Kise) • Sa-chin (Satsuki Momoi) • Muro-chin (Tatsuya Himuro) • According to the CHARACTERS BIBLE: • • Characters Bible, "What IF Murasakibara was a Pastry Chef!?" • If Murasakibara had an alternate job it would be as a pastry chef. • His type of girl is one who is tall, but not taller than him. • His motto is "Sweets are Justice."[15] • His favorite food is Nerunerunerune candy. • His hobby is looking around or visiting cheaper sweet stores, eating and sleeping. • His specialty is shooting gallery and goldfish scooping. • He's bad at handling small things, like threading a needle. • According to KUROFES: • He is a member of Health committee. • His best basketball moves are block. • The player he has his eyes on is Kiyoshi. • As shown in Replace, Murasakibara and Kuroko got along surprisingly well as friends during their early days at Teikō Junior High. It was later in time that their different opinions on basketball led them to clash, making Kuroko the former teammate with whom Murasakibara fought most often. Still, Kuroko has stated that he likes Murasakibara as a person. • Murasakibara has the record for making 100 points in a game, this could be a tribute to the NBA Wilt Chamberlain, the only player to score 100 points in a single NBA game. • In a Q&A section in the manga: • Murasakibara was 186 cm tall upon entering Teikō. • Murasakibara's best subject is Physics. • Murasakibara hates crows because they make weird noises. • Murasakibara has 3 older brothers and 1 older sister. • He hates carrots because he hates vegetables. • His top three favourite dishes are: 1. Cream stew 2. Dolsot Bibimbap 3. Squid Ink Pasta • Due to his height, Murasakibara was asked to join the volleyball club upon entering Teikō. • Murasakibara can eat a whole box of popsicles in the winter if he’s sitting under a kotatsu. [16] • Murasakibara believes Kuroko has really good luck when it comes to winning free stuff from snacks. He eats snacks all the time and never wins anything. However, Kuroko doesn’t want to use his luck on something like that. [17] • Murasakibara and Kuroko get along really well, except when Kuroko starts talking about basketball. Then, Murasakibara just gets annoyed. [18] • Murasakibara is the only one to break the 'newer-style' backboard, where while the glass doesn't shatter, the back extension collapses, bringing the backboard down rather than shattering the glass or just taking the rim off like Taiga Kagami did.[19] Shaquille O'Neal, while being at 38 kg heavier than Murasakibara (when Shaq was in his prime during the 1999-2000 NBA season he was 325 lbs; 147 Kg), had done it in every way possible in his career before the current-style backboards are introduced after the mid 90's because of his power and strength.[20][21] • Murasakibara has a body size and defensive skills comparable to Bill Russell (6'10", 215-220 lb), but Russell is left-handed, and wore no.6, just like Shintarō Midorima does for Shutoku, and Russell never snatches rebounds with one hand, and would try to keep the ball in play after blocking shots. • Unlike O'Neal's 'Black Tornado' (a move Andrew Bynum copied in his rookie season)[22], Thor's Hammer can directly dunk from right after the pass is received. Shaq's version of 'Thor's Hammer' is less commonly performed.[23][24] ADVERTISEMENT References 1. Kuroko no Basuke -Replace 2- The Miracle School Festival 2. Kuroko no Basuke chapter 156, page 1 3. In LAST GAME, Kise's appearance has slightly changed, with the most noticeable one being his hair now cut short. He retains the piercing on his left ear. He wears the white Vorpal Sword jersey with the number 7. Personality To people whom he acknowledges, Kise often acts cheerful and outgoing while also being a bit dramatic. Like the other Generation of Miracles, Kise was exceedingly arrogant due to his skills, barely acknowledging Kagami’s existence until he was defeated by him and Kuroko. To those whom he respects he doesn't refrain from interacting with no matter how gloomy and distant they are (for example Midorima). Kise exclusively adds -cchito the people who he respects (mostly the Generation of Miracles members) names, such as Kurokocchi (Kuroko), Aominecchi (Aomine) or Midorimacchi (Midorima), and has the habit of ending his sentence with the suffix -ssu. Though easy-going when off-court, Kise can be very determined and serious while playing, especially when truly challenged. Because of the way Teikō Junior High played, Kise is a one-man player who would prefer to score himself than playing as a team. While playing against Aomine, he says that he just doesn't care about Kaijō winning, and that he just wants to defeat Aomine himself.[1] However, he started to change when Kuroko's team beat him as he tasted a loss for the first time. He began to train more, and has also witnessed his teammates' faith towards him during his match against Tōō. Moved by them, he succeeded on copying Aomine. Kise surprised everyone when in a counter-attack and in a one-on-one against Aomine, he tried to pass the ball to Kasamatsu instead of trying to score himself. In the semi-finals of the Winter Cup, Kuroko correctly predicted that if Kise was cornered, he'll pass the ball, which is not what the old Kise would do. Likely this type of personality change also started to rub off on the other Miracles' members as well as they are defeated by Seirin overcoming their odds. Because Kuroko was Kise's personal instructor in Junior High school when he first started playing basketball, and also because Kuroko is strong in his own unique way, Kise deeply respects Kuroko - almost to the point of obsession. He always tries to point out how amazing Kuroko is and thinks that they were the best of friends[2] (and he was comically upset when Kuroko said the opposite). He claimed to have cried every night after Kuroko rejected his offer to play for Kaijō and once referred to this event as "Kurokocchi dumped me" although right after that Kuroko asked him to stop being so sarcastic at which the look in his eyes instantly changed. Before getting into playing basketball, Kise was constantly bored and apathetic due to him easily being able to master any sport in a short time. It is mentioned in the manga that whenever he feels disinterested in his surroundings he starts hearing the wind. It was only when he started playing basketball at Teiko that Kise felt his skills truly tested against the other Generation of Miracles. However, there are times where Kise among the Generation of Miracles tends to be a source of comic relief in that most characters tend to pay him no mind or jab at him at his own expense (and not just by Kuroko dismissing his affections as first shown). This often leaves him to be either jokingly or genuinely irritated at their lack of gratitude (though he's often at mercy by the likes of one such as Yukio Kasamatsu who is not afraid to express his annoyance at Kise far more bluntly than anyone else). It is worth noting that Kise's personality differs between the manga and the anime, as observed by Tadatoshi Fujimaki himself: "In this match (Haizaki vs Kise), I wanted to depict Kise isn’t necessarily a good guy. In my opinion, Kise in the Anime is little too soft compared to Kise in the Manga. I heard that when Kise used abusive words, one of the Anime staff was very in shock. I am NOT going to deny Anime AT ALL, but in my mind, Kise is a person who only affable to those he admitted & feel worthy after measuring with his own eyes. Other than that, he is usually cold-hearted. I’ve recognized him who has two faces. He is not completely good-boy, you know. That being said, please read Manga thinking Kise in Manga is bit different from Anime." His copying ability requires one thing which is that he is somewhat on par with his target's physical abilities. This is why in spite of his career in basketball is short compared to his former teammates, he is able to gather an array of different techniques and skills. The fact that he was able to copy Aomine's movements, shows that he is approximately equally strong and skillful. Kise's skill is so great he was called the trump card of Team Vorpal Sword (a team made up of the Generation of Miracles). Copying he body, Kise can only hold his Perfect Copy for five minutes; though the time limit has been forcibly extended by an extra two minutes by Kise (despite his injured ankle from his last matchwith Haizaki) during the Seirin vs Kaijō round. Upon it's activation, Kise's eyes glows. This ability is also one of the reasons he can cover all 5 positions for Team Vorpal Swords. Kise is also able to copy the level of play Aomine is at while in Zone, via his perfect copy, in the match against the Jabberwock. Kise copies Aomine's formless shots Kise copies Akashi Kise copies Midorima Kise copies Murasakibara Kise copies Kuroko's Ignite Pass Kai Zone Kise enters the Zone Kise enters the Zone during the 3rd quarter in the game against Team Jabberwock. He was able to do this after remembering the words of Kasamatsu before the match started. Those words were to win not for revenge, but to prove everything their seniors have done for the sport were all at worth, which is mostly likely the key for Kise to enter the state of Zone. According to Midorima, Kise uses Perfect Copy in conjunction with Zone to instantly become the strongest player on the court. Kise can only keep his Zone for 3 minutes because both skills deplete a lot of stamina from the user (while having already used Perfect Copy alone for 2 minutes beforehand). Kise makes use of Perfect Copy in conjunction with Zone, thus making him the strongest player on the court instantly as stated by Midorima. But because both abilities drain a large amount of stamina, his time on the court is drastically reduced.Rendering him unable to move a single inch after completely exhausting his stamina. While in the Zone, he is able to handle Silver all by himself and keep Team Jabberwock at bay at the same time. Like others, his speed and strength notably increases, as he was able to dunk over Silver, who is known to be one of the strongest and most violent players on court. He was the Phantom Sixth Player of the Generation of Miracles at Teikō Junior High who specialises in misdirection and passes. He now plays as a regular at Seirin High with the goal of bringing the team and Taiga Kagami to the top of Japan. He has light blue hair that he styles to his left. His eyes are blue, and he has a blank gaze. His skin is fairly pale. Kuroko has a fragile outlook and a very small build for a basketball player which is why he is usually seen passing. He has light blue hair that he styles to his left. His eyes are blue, and he has a blank gaze. His skin is fairly pale. He wears the white, black, and red Seirin High jersey with the number 11. He also sometimes wears black sweatbands. His basketball shoes are white with a blue streak. He wore no. 15 jersey when he was in junior high. He also wears it in practices. He also wore the no. 8 jersey as a recruit, and no. 16 when he was still a 3rd stringer. When out of training or matches, he wears his school uniform: the standard Japanese gakuran. The top piece of a gakuran is black, long-sleeved and has a standing collar which buttons from the bottom up to his chin. It has blue trimming on the sleeves and vertically in the middle. He also wears regular black pants. It has been noted that his bed-head is especially atrocious.[1] Kuroko has a deadpan and straightforward personality. He is very hard working and always tries to satisfy the needs of the team above his own. He has no presence and is quite unnoticeable, a trait that goes well with his misdirection. He has also displayed much respect towards fellow passionate basketball players and thinks that while senpais have to have pride, kōhais need to have respect.[2] Despite his initial kind personality, Kuroko gets extremely furious at dirty play, such as when his teammates were threatened and injured by foul methods in the Kirisaki Daīchi game. His aura changes so drastically, that even Kagami gets scared when he sees him like that.[3] When Kuroko gets angry, it gets very hard to beat him, as he is filled up with fighting spirit. When the situation worsens, he seems to turn talkative.[4] Prior in his days in Teiko, he used to have more emotion, determination, and compassion for basketball at the 5th grade when he watched, he seems exasperated as he struggles for joining, when he is now a regular, he is somehow happy and smiling that he could die, however when Akashi, Aomine, and the rest of the Miracles where becoming distant, Kuroko was fed up due to his team's arrogance, cold-hearted play, . environment, Kuroko can perform imperceptible passes and virtually unstoppable steals, getting the ball to and between his teammates faster than opponents can react. His near-invisibility makes him highly susceptible to on-court injuries however. Further, his talent is not effective indefinitely. If he is left in play too long, opponents grow used to his misdirection tactics; as such, he must be placed on the bench at varying points in any match to prevent this. Taiga Kagami notes that Kuroko's abilities is somehow unknown due to his smell being odorless, neither he is weak or strong, out of all the Miracles who played alone with their abilities, Kuroko is the only Miracle who is a "prodigy" when it comes to teamwork, which is above Akashi's teamplay and strategies, as he help Kagami defeating all the Miracles, technically Kuroko also defeated them as well because of his trust and bond to his teammates, he is also the only one who is capable of stopping a player while in the Zone with the help from his teammates. He mostly plays on the position of small forward based on defensive matchups and substitution strategies, but in recent chapters his stats list his position as a question mark. This is because Kuroko is difficult to place in one of the five set basketball positions, his role in the team applies to none of those, but mostly as a pass-first point guard based on size, passing, and stealing abilities. Misdirection The gaze of the players is misdirected Kuroko is naturally hard to notice so he developed a playing technique using that "invisibility". He simply behaves as if another player will get the ball and not him. Plus, he tries as much as possible to not showing emotions to reduce his already weak presence.[8] He pushes the opponents to focus their attention to someone else and then steps in unexpectedly. When the opponent can't see him, it is much easier to steal the ball. Misdirection is a technique that fools the opponent's senses. Kuroko uses his misdirection in function of his teammates. He must make eye-contact with the passer while doing his misdirection and so the eyefield of the other players becomes a "mirror" for Kuroko's position. This also marks the key to disabling Kuroko's misdirection. The player guarding him must simply stop looking at Kuroko, but look at the passer and derive Kuroko's position from him.[9] So far, the only person capable of doing that is Imayoshi. Not only that but the new skills he has learned such as the "Vanishing Drive" and "Phantom Shot" has made his "lack of presence" wear out. This is simply because these skills require a hold to the ball and the crowd starts to notice him because of this. This is the main reason Akashi didn't teach him how to shoot. Kuroko diverts the attention away from him, to another player and to the ball Kuroko stealing Kasamatsu's ball using his misdirection Kuroko must make eye-contact in order to use Misdirection Invisible Pass Kuroko's Invisible Pass Following from his misdirection, Kuroko uses himself as a relay for passes and redirects the ball to another player by just gently touching it. He receives the ball from another player and immediately changes its course to a free player. This pass is very hard to predict and almost always leads to a basket. The true form of this pass, according to Midorima, is a tap pass, which allows Kuroko to change direction of the ball without touching the ball for a long period. This is the only type of pass that works well with his misdirection because of minimum contact with the ball. Ignite Pass Misdirection Overflow Kuroko diverts Sakurai's attention on him A skill Kuroko developed after completing his Vanishing Drive. He realized that if he can activate his regular misdirection and divert the attention away from him, that the opposite is also true. This is that when his misdirection has run out and his presence on the court is beginning to show. The sudden appearance of a tenth player will attract the attention of the other players. By deliberately running out of misdirection, he is giving his teammates the ability of the Vanishing Drive. The effects are clear: Kuroko has run out of his regular moves, but his teammates can now use the Vanishing Drive freely, it is also designed to counter Aomine's high-speed shots by directing it gazes in fast movements, making his shots miss.[16][17] There is, however, also a grave downside to the use of this technique. The first is that it must only be used at the very end of the match. It's the same with his regular misdirection, he can't keep fooling the opponents for too long. The second is that while he is using this ability, he is also showing the secret behind it. In other words, misdirection would never work against the same opponent thus rendering the rematch an inevitable loss in the future with this.[18] Phantom Shot Phantom Shot form ... To rush in and block the shot Kuroko's Phantom Shot Phantom Shot against Murasakibara The Phantom Shot is Explained Because of this, Aomine pushed Kuroko to learn a new shot by himself, the Phantom Shot. The essence is to use the palm of his hand to thrust the ball forward, although that will mess up the shooting posture.[20] Further more, because of the shooting position, the ball is lower than a usual shot. Instead of shooting the ball over one's head, the Phantom Shot releases from the chest. The opponent naturally looks lower because of the ball's position, so his view is limited. By a fast release, Kuroko can shoot the ball through the opponents field of vision, like a floater with less arc.[21] Using the Phantom Shot, Kuroko made the first basket in front of Murasakibara, the tallest player in all of Japan, thus scored the first point against Yōsen in the whole tournament. Kuroko used his Phantom Shot in the whole Yōsen match, and Murasakibara could not block any of them, though Kuroko missed some himself. However, as explained by Akashi, if he were to keep using this move, like his vanishing drive, it would diminish his weak presence, causing him to stand out and be noticed by the crowd, disallowing him to become a shadow ever again, since the Phantom Shot requires Kuroko to hold the ball. The secret to stopping this shot however, is backing off and keeping distance to Kuroko. That way, the field of vision will not be limited downwards and the ball is visible. Kasamatsu is the first one to figure this out, after which he successfully closed in on Kuroko and blocked the shot. Quasi-Emperor Eye Kuroko's Quasi-Emperor Eye To use his misdirection Kuroko, needs to analyze and predict the movements of his opponents. This allows him to observe the behavior and habits of others but mostly his teammates. Kuroko acquired his version of the Emperor Eye from the deep trust and bond he has forged with his teammates backed by his observation skills. His Emperor Eye cannot predict the movements of his opponents (unless he has played with them before) but rather the teammates who he is familiar with.[22] Kuroko also uses this to change his passing routes and to change the direction of his teammates passes if he sees the ball will be stolen with that pass. With his own Emperor Eye, Kuroko has filled the only gap that separates Kagami and Akashi. By looking only at Kagami, Kuroko predicted the future even faster than Akashi and caught up to him. He even prevented a potential steal by taking the ball from Kagami and made an alley-oop to the latter, taking down Akashi and forcing him out of his zone. This also became the key to realizing the condition for opening the door to the true Zone. Kuroko-Kagami Alley-Oop Kuroko and Kagami's combination play A move that Kuroko and Kagami often execute. One of the opponents tries to pass, but Kuroko intercepts the ball. He smacks the ball onto the ground in the direction of the basket. Kagami jumps high in the sky, grabs the ball and dunks it in. They have first showed this in the matchagainst Shinkyō Academy[23] and did it again in the game against Seihō High.[24] The comination started off from a missed shot from Kuroko on a wide open layup attempt and Kagami followed it up. The alley-oop combo can also come from a Phantom Shot, as shown on the game-winning shot at Winter Cup. A wrinkle to this is that a shot directly from a pass still counts as an alley-oop, just like Midorima's Sky Direct 3P, so on the final shot against Kaijo, where Kagami bounced the ball of the corner of the backboard, and Kuroko beat the buzzer with a Phantom shot to win the game still counts as such instance. Steals and Playmaking Kuroko prevents Kise stealing the ball Kuroko is proficient to ball-stealing. capable of stealing from the opponents, especially against Hanamiya, Akashi and Kise, additionally saving the ball from them, with his mental will, trust, and bond with Seirin, he is also supporting/coordinating with his passes, alley-oops, steal defense, and pressure defence, using his Misdirection by reading his opponents/teammates alike, quick and agile enough while working with his team despite his below average physical ability, stamina, and, technique. Furthermore, at the Winter Cup, using his new individual skills to support the team, and with his Quasi-Emperor Eye, he is nearly impossible when it comes to teamplay, something that the Generation of MIracles aren't capable to do ever since Teiko, his teamwork with Kagami is considered a core principle due to their style combined to beat them, able to catch up to him while in the Zone. With his stealing ability, he managed to steal the ball from Nash Gold Jr. when Akashi was unable to during the last ten seconds of Vorpal Sword match against Jabberwock. He was also the captain for Team Vorpal Swords and Teikō Junior High, commanding leadership over the Generation of Miracles. Akashi is of average height and build, which in comparison to the other players around him, makes him appear even smaller. At 173cm tall, he is the shortest member of the Generation of Miracles and the fourth shortest player in the entire series (ahead of Kuroko, Koganei, and Furihata). Akashi has spiky, bright red hair befitting his name. During the opening ceremony of the Winter Cup, he personally cut his bangs with a pair of scissors in order to keep it out of his eyes. In EXTRA GAME, he has since grown his hair back out and has mostly returned to his prior appearance. Akashi's eyes are the same color of his hair and have uniquely vertical pupils. In his original personality, both eyes are the same red color. In his alternate personality, his left eye is instead an orange color, giving him complete heterochromia. Akashi wears the white and light blue Rakuzan High jersey with the number 4, typically wearing his jacket over his shoulders rather than through the sleeves. In EXTRA GAME, he instead wears the white and cardinal jersey of Team Vorpal Swordswith the number 4. As the only child of an prominent family, Akashi experienced a lot a strict upbringing from the moment he was born and was taught to always stand above the rest. This caused him to adopt the same merciless winning mentality as his father and develop an extremely strong, almost inhumane level of self-discipline that has led Akashi to appear calm and unwaveringly confident in nearly every aspect of life. He regards victory not as something to be sought, but as something as simple and vital for survival as breathing. Akashi is most notably in possession of two separate, distinctive personalities, both of which refer to themselves as Seijūrō Akashi. This split began in Akashi's fifth year of elementary school, following the death of his beloved mother and the severe workload forced onto him by his increasingly strict father. Around this time, Akashi specifically noticed that he acted differently at home compared to when he was at school.[1] While the separation between these two personalities became increasingly clearer with time, Akashi did not fully switch from one personality to the other until his third year at Teikō Junior High. In the face of near defeat, Akashi was crushed by his ingrained expectation of victory and forced to split in order to win and to remain ahead of his teammates. His original personality was subsequently pushed to the furthest reaches of his consciousness and did not reawaken until his game against Seirin High. Both personalities are fully aware of one another and are even able to converse if need be. Original Personality Akashi's original personality is most clearly identified with his use of the personal pronoun 俺 (ore) and his monochromatic red eyes. This is the personality that Akashi was born with and the one considered to be his "true" personality. Initially, Akashi's personality was that of a person who respected his teammates, while still holding that winners-mentality. Akashi also cared and appreciated his fans that gave him daily support and focused solely on teamplay with his team. He also referred people by their last name as a sign of respect and was overall less menacing. He is Tetsuya Kuroko's basketball colleague and friend who is determined to defeat the Generation of Miracles and become the best in Japan. Kagami has exceptional basketball talents and has been called "The Miracle who did not become one of the Miracles".[1] Kagami is very muscular for a high school student. He is very tall, giving him an overwhelming aura, which some say is like the intensity of a wild tiger.[2] He has two-toned dark red and black hair and red eyes. His eyes are pointed and narrow and his eyebrows are quite thick and split in two, which Murasakibara does not fail to remark on. He wears the red, black and white Seirin High jersey with the number 10 and wears black and red basketball shoes. He is also occasionally seen with a shiny metal necklace with a ring on it, which represents his brotherhood with Tatsuya Himuro. When he as a short temper. Kagami's reaction to Tetsuya #2 When Kuroko brought Tetsuya #2 to training, it is revealed that Kagami is scared of dogs and suffered Cynophobia.[4] This fear originates from his time in America, where he was once bitten by a dog. He overcame this fear when he realized that Tetsuya #2 is a good motivation for the team. He is also a glutton and is able to eat at least five times a normal meal. He is shown to be a great cook when Riko Aida tried to cook for the team to save money, but ended up almost killing everyone with her food, leading to Kagami cooking instead and teaching Riko how to cook too. During the series, and especially after the Interhigh and during the Winter Cup, Kagami matured a lot. Instead of going up against every provocation and losing his temper quickly, he thinks before he acts and has developed some sort of hindsight that lets him simulate a possible one-on-one battle. Even though he still hates losing, he has somewhat accepted peace with it. Now, he has become a much more clever player that doesn't plunge into battles without thinking first and Kagami demonstrates his strong abilities by making a lightning-fast cut Kagami is a incredible basketball player, and has been said to be equal to the Generation of Miracles multiple times by many people, even some of the miracles themeselves. He is a naturally gifted player that trained in the States prior to coming back to Japan. Kagami is a very powerful and fast player that is able to execute the fast cuts that can foil even Aomine and Kise. His reflexes are top-notch, as he is able to react extremely quickly when facing a ball handling expert such as Aomine, and in the Zone Hayama's five finger dribble was not fast enough to pass even while Hayama himself was in a zone-like state. He could also block Aomine's formless shot due to his reflexes and sheer skill. While being marked by a double team of two Tsugawa level defenders, Kagami was able to easily pass them both. Kagami has beaten a number of tough opponents including some of the Generation of Miracles and Uncrowned Kings on one-on-one plays. Kagami has beaten his teammate Kiyoshi (an Uncrowned King) in a one on one. Additionally, he has beaten Kise of the Generation of Miracles in a one on one isolation play, and Aomine who was in the zone when the latter's zone was about to run out of its stamina and has also game by breaking through their defense, jumping from the free-throw line and dunking.[12] A lane up is very difficult, because being able to reach the basket after jumping such a distance is only possible with an extraordinary jumping strength, the kind that Kagami possesses. With the development of the lane up, he forced open the "Gate" and awakened his true abilities, reaching the same level as the Generation of Miracles. This is also called "Airwalk", which was made famous by retired NBA legend, Michael Jordan. Meteor Jam Meteor Jam A new dunk Kagami learned from Alexandra. While in the zone, Kagami prepares the dunk by leaping from the free-throw line, however; instead of following through with a lane up, Kagami uses his jumping power to gain height rather than distance. At the peak of his jump, he then hurls the ball into the basket which possesses even the power to penetrate through Murasakibara's defense while he was in the Zone. Kagami's way of throwing the ball directly into the ring is similar to a meteor crashing into earth (hence the name).[13] Although the Meteor Jam has the capability of being an unrivaled dunk, it is a delicate technique that requires Kagami to calculate the location, height, and angle of his jump along with the balance and ball control after that jump which explains the reason why he needs the Zone's assistance. Though, even with the Zone, the distance from the basket drastically affects the accuracy of his shot.[14] Vanishing Drive Kagami's Misdirection Kuroko's signature skill is, in fact, a collaborative effort between himself and Kagami. Kuroko ducks in and flies by his opponent with quick cuts while Kagami provides the necessary distraction needed to draw attention away from Kuroko and onto himself. These conditions make for a successful Vanishing Drive. More details about the Vanishing Drive can be found here Tactical Battle In Seirin's match against Tōō in the Winter Cup, Kagami displayed a never before seen skill, a high level tactical battle. This is a highly realistic simulation of a basketball one-on-one in ones minds by reading his opponents subtle feints or moves. This is only possible when the player possesses a skill to accurately read the opponent's strength and movements.[15] Kagami used this to play a simulation of a one-on-one against Aomineand accurately determine that he would lose. Zone Kagami in the Zone The Zone is a state of focused attention and energy that enhances one's performance. Kagami first experienced 'being in the zone' during the 4th quarter of 1st round match of the Winter Cup, playing for Seirin against Tōō. The combination of intense oppositional pressure from Aomine (ace of the Generation of Miracles) and sheer tenacity was enough to push Kagami into the Zone. Zone Kagami vs Zone Aomine When a player enters the Zone, electricity shoots and streams from their eyes and their true physical prowess can be expressed. Kagami experiences these same effects while in the Zone, with his reflexes, speed and especially jumping power, and strength being greatly augmented. He gains a greater field of vision similar to the eagle eye and hawk eye, and his shooting accuracy noticeably improves, as evident from his successfully three-pointers while playing Point Guard in the match against Yosen, in which Kagami's 3s were compared to Midorima's by Hyuga.[16][17] Kagami is even able to perform a perfect fake better than Himuro's. While in the zone Kagami has accomplished amazing feats, he has beaten both Aomine and Murasakibara of the Generation of Miracles while they were in the zone on certain occasions. His defense shut down Akashi's offence for a large part of their game, before Akashi himself entered the zone. And Riko even said that Kagami's Zone is the only thing that could counter Kise's Perfect Copy. Operating at such a high level of performance gives Kagami an incredible field of influence from which he can respond and react to the actions of players on the court with speed and technique; even players of Akashi's caliber, completely stopping Akashi from, doing anything other than passing, even with his Emperor Eye. Those who are inside the sphere will be reached by him and blocked because it means that it's Kagami's territory. Kagami does this by combing his animals instincts with his Zone. Kagami like Aomine is (by the time of the Rakuzan game) able to willing enter the Zone. The main condition for Kagami to enter the zone is "the will to fight for his teammates". He was also able to enter it again even though Akashi managed to shut it Team Vorpal Swords Seijuro Akashi • Daiki Aomine • Shintarõ Midorima • Ryöta Kise • Atsushi Murasakibara • Taiga Kagami • Tetsuya Kuroko • Junpei Hyüga • Kazunari Takao • Kösuke Wakamatsu Tetsuya Kuroko 18 December 24th 5'5" / 168cm Taiga Kagami 18 August 2nd 6'3" / 190cm Ryota Kise 18 June 18th 6'2" / 189cm Shintaro Midorima 18 July 7th 6'5" / 195cm Daiki Aomine 18 August 31 6'4" / 192cm Atsushi Murasakibara 18 October 9th 6'10" / 208cm ((RIKO AIDA IS THEIR ASSISTANT COACH..
