His dad passed away and he aspired to be like him. During middle school, Chifuyu was a famous punk. He beat up upperclassmen declaring that he didn’t talk polite to anyone and that he was authority himself. He was looked by others to be strong and a loner. Chifuyu doesn’t like those that abuse their power. Later on in middle school when he was twelve years old, he met Baji. He didn't think much of Baji, as he had just flunked last year and was held back. In addition, he was dressed like a nerd but was horrible academically. Chifuyu helped Baji with a letter he was writing, causing Baji to grin in gratitude. Later that day, Chifuyu is ambushed by a biker gang, Mandala, because he had assaulted one of their underlings. He is surrounded and horribly outnumbered, but Baji appears and singlehandedly wipes all of them out. Chifuyu is amazed, and Baji becomes the first person he truly respects, prompting him to join Toman afterwards. Years later between the battle of Valhalla and Toman, Baji dies. Their close relationship is marked by their tradition of splitting a Peyoung Yakisoba. After becoming Baji's right-hand man, Chifuyu continues to loyally support and place his complete trust in him. When Baji planned to join Valhalla as a ruse, Chifuyu willingly accepted to be brutally beaten up in order for Baji to be trusted by the gang's executives. When Baji is about to die, Chifuyu holds him and is the last person he talks to. Baji reminisces about their origins by musing about splitting a Peyoung Yakisoba. Chifuyu shakily echoes the sentiment. When Baji dies, Chifuyu screams in anguish.
