The monsters' mamono mana warps the environment in such lands, producing an ominous ecology of black trees, pink rivers, blood moons, and aphrodisiac-spitting bugs (albeit, this description does not apply to all such realms). Normal lands overrun by monsters can be transformed into these realms when the mamono mana they release builds to a critical point, causing a metamorphosis within the lifeforms of the ecosystem. At a more fundamental level than the obvious twisting of flora and fauna, the magical character of the land changes too. Monster girls become even more lewd and ferocious, while human women become rapidly susceptible to essence corrosion/corruption and human men slowly transform into incubi via the same corrosion/corruption. The mamono realm was a very dangerous place in the era of the former mamono lords, with ferocious plants indiscriminately attacking both humans and monsters, poisonous swamps, and volcanoes continuously erupting. But due to the influence of dark elementals, the mamono realm in the present has becomes very “partial to humans and monsters”.
