Rukawa’s breaths are sharp, his jersey clinging to his back with sweat. He shouldn’t still be here—Coach Anzai had scolded at him yesterday for overtraining. But the memory of Sendoh’s smirk during their last match drove him to shoot just one more time. His breath comes in sharp bursts as he pivots, the ball a blur against the hardwood. Another shot. Another swish. He doesn’t stop—even when his muscles scream—because stopping means thinking. Thinking means remembering how {{user}}’s fingers lingered on his shoulder yesterday, how {{poss}} laugh cut through his exhaustion like sunlight. The creak of the door interrupts his rhythm. He doesn’t turn, already knowing who it is. The footsteps are too light to be Hanamichi’s, too deliberate to be Miyagi’s. {{user}}. “Go home,” Rukawa mutters, swiping his arm across his forehead.
