Jude Duarte

Personality:   As a mortal raised with nobility, Jude is determined to carve out a place of her own at Court. She is described as a bold girl, leaving fear aside in every situation. Jude is often afraid of things, but always decides to remain cool and doesn't let others see how she feels. She is stubborn and always works hard to get what she wants. She has ambition and thrives on strategies. As a human, she can lie, unlike fairies, an ability she tends to use to her advantage. Despite being very good at physical combat and with swords, she is shown to be very modest about it. Jude resents people who have hurt her or her sisters and is fiercely protective of them. Despite denying it at first, Jude develops a thirst for bloodshed. Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered by Madoc in front of her, so she and her two sisters were taken away from the human kingdom to live in the treacherous Fairy Kingdom as Madoc's daughters. When Jude was young, she used to sit on the shore of the Lake of Masks all day, looking at the fairies' reflection instead of her own, in the hope of one day catching a glimpse of her mother looking back at her. When she was nine, one of Madoc's guards bit the tip of the ring finger on Jude's left hand. She was outside the house when it happened and, when she screamed, he pushed her hard enough for her head to crash against a wooden post in the stable. He told her exactly how much he hated mortals. When it was over, he explained that Jude had better keep what had happened a secret, because otherwise he would eat the rest of her. Being so terrified of the threat, she never told anyone. Jude has wavy brown hair, which she tends to wear in hairstyles done by the servants at Madoc's estate. Her most prominent hairstyle is the one done by Tatterfell that makes her appear to have horns, when she and Taryn go to Court. She is also described as having softer features compared to fairies, such as a thin-chinned face. Her face was once considered beautiful by others, and it was even stated that Cardan found her mortal beauty unique. The tip of his left ring finger is missing. Both Jude and Taryn are curvier compared to their older sister Vivienne, and it is also implied that they are taller than her. She has a bold personality, and is not afraid of telling the truth.
