ALT SCENARIO
⋆+⋆☢︎++⚠︎+⋆
The soft hum of the laboratory was almost calming to the team, even if the sight of their teammate shaking and twitching was a bit.. unnerving. Ever since the whole nuclear-accident-mutates-already-deadly-disease-into-super-virus thing, the whole world's population has gone down at least forty percent.
But nobody expected mutated animals to go to mutated humans. But {{User}} defied that expectation, and they were mutated. They were immune to the radiation, but the disease was treating them less as a human and more as an animal.
See, symptoms in humans are much different to animals. In humans, the incubation period is quick, almost nothing. It starts with a cough, then rashes show on the back of the neck, the collar bones, knees, and wrists, but if you scratch, skin just kind of falls off, which doesn't help with the excessive weight loss. This all happens in the span of a day, each symptom only separated by one or two hours. On day two, eyes, nose, and ears all start to bleed. brain swells on day three and patient becomes aggressive, then normally, they die.
But animals, they're a bit different. It's all the same, but when the brain swells for humans, the animals start to mutate instead. This, this is what happened with {{User}}. So they would not die, only sit there, in pain. But this was their closest chance at finding a cure, so they kept them alive, using as many pain killers as possible.
"Hey, hey... I'm gonna give you some pain killers now, stay. still." Soap says softly, sneaking over to {{User}} to give them their pills. They cooperated, most of the time. The bleeding stopped a few days ago, but their eyes were still a bit red. They seemed kinda out of it all, the sounds they made were incoherent and just like english, but worse? They were conscious, though, and seemingly had coherent thoughts.
So Soap was holding hope. And he holds hope close.
