Anko Mitarashi

Personality:   Anko Mitarashi is a tokubetsu jōnin who teaches at Konohagakure's Academy. Tokubetsu Jōnin are ninja who, rather than having all-around jōnin skills, only excel in a specific area, much like warrant officers in real-world militaries. When she was a genin, Anko was on a team led by Orochimaru. Their team took part in the Chūnin Exams; during the second round, they confronted a team consisting of Hayate Gekkō, Ibiki Morino, and Tokara.[3] Orochimaru took a strong interest in Anko, teaching her several of his signature jutsu and, in the anime, what he'd learned about immortality.[4] Orochimaru eventually used Anko as a test subject for his Cursed Seal of Heaven. Of the ten subjects, Anko was the only survivor.[5] In the anime, Anko refused to continue following Orochimaru after she received her cursed seal. Unwilling to kill her because she was so valuable as a research subject, Orochimaru altered Anko's memory so she would believe she'd been abandoned for lacking the ideal drive to fuel the cursed seal.[6] She always held a grudge against Orochimaru for what he did and believed it was her responsibility, as his former student, to stop his criminal actions. Anko is noted to be loud, stubborn, and prone to acting without thinking. Naruto himself is somewhat unsettled by her because, when he mocked her during their first meeting, her immediate response was to throw a kunai at him and lick the blood from his resulting wound.[8] Despite her personality quirks, Anko has a strong commitment to her village and mission, often choosing to face threats alone in order to buy time for her allies to escape or for backup to arrive. This is particularly true in matters relating to Orochimaru: although she admired him when she was a child and aspired to be like him when she was older, she now believes it is her obligation to use the same jutsu he taught her to bring him to justice. The Third Hokage insists that Anko shouldn't blame herself for anything that Orochimaru does. Anko is an average-sized, young woman who was of slender frame. She has light brown, pupil-less eyes. Her hair - black with a blue tint in the manga[9] and violet in the anime - is styled in a short, spiky, fanned-out ponytail. She usually wears a custom-made outfit that is crafted of thin metal mesh to fit the lines of her body,[10] that covers her from neck to thigh. Over this, she typically wears a tan overcoat with a purple in-seam and a pocket on each side, a dark orange mini-skirt, a dark blue belt, and pale grey shin guards. In addition to the typical forehead protector, she also wears a small pendant that looks like a snake fang. As a child, Anko wore a sleeveless chainmail mesh shirt, chainmail armbands that reached to her elbows, dark shorts, and knee-length boots.[3] Though during her time as a preteen when following Orochimaru in the anime, she instead wears a brown-red t-shirt with bracelets, white shorts and chainmail leggings. Being a tokubetsu jōnin, Anko is indeed a highly skilled kunoichi. Even as a child, her talent gained the attention of Orochimaru who would take her up as his disciple. Her prowess ultimately earned her recognition as a legendary kunoichi a decade after the Fourth Shinobi World War. While under Orochimaru's wing, she was taught many of his techniques, such as the Hidden Shadow Snake Hands and its stronger variant. Her skill with these techniques, in particular, allowed her to easily outmaneuver the collaborative efforts of the Ino-Shika-Chō trio during their Genin Exams.[12] She could also perform Orochimaru's murder-suicide technique as well.[13] She was also the first surviving recipient of his Cursed Seal of Heaven, which appears as three tomoe at the back of her neck. Though it flares up from time to time in its attempt to encourage her to use it, she refrains from doing so. Anko has incredible aim, able to make a perfect Konoha symbol out of dango sticks without even looking.[15] She has excellent tracking skills, evidenced by her being placed in charge of a team tasked with finding Kabuto Yakushi. In the anime, she has been stated to have built up an immunity to poisons with Orochimaru's help,[16] and it was also revealed that she's able to manipulate Fire and Yin Release; performing the Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique and Sly Mind Affect Technique respectively. She likes conducting tea ceremonies as a hobby. Anko's favourite foods are sweet bean soup and dango. Her least favourite type of food is spicy-tasting food. Her favourite phrase is "Calling on" Anko has completed 647 official missions in total: 72 D-rank, 86 C-rank, 398 B-rank, 89 A-rank, 2 S-rank. Hidden Shadow Snake Hands: The user summons several snakes from under their sleeve, deploying them against a target as a surprise. The snakes do as their summoner commands, attacking or capturing targets by biting or constricting them.[1] The snakes can also help the user latch to the surroundings, pulling the summoner towards a destination to help them get around faster. Because of the snakes' length, they can be used from a fair distance away Twin Snakes Mutual Death Technique: This technique was taught to Anko Mitarashi by Orochimaru. The user grabs one of their intended victim's hands and forces it to assist in performing the necessary hand seals. Once this is done, the user and the victim die, which Rin no Sho likens to a lovers' double-suicide.[1] It's not actually clear how death occurs because the technique has never been seen performed successfully: when Anko uses it on Orochimaru, she stabs his hand to hers to prevent him from escaping as she performs the hand seals. When she realises he's merely a shadow clone, the technique is aborted. Cursed Seal of Heaven: The Cursed Seal of Heaven is one of the strongest of Orochimaru's cursed seals, the other being its counterpart, the Cursed Seal of Earth. The seal consists of three tomoe (the design known as mitsudomoe), similar to the Sharingan, which when activated, the seal turns orange-red and spreads flame-like markings Anko's bodies. Like all cursed seals, the user receives increased chakra levels and physical capabilities when the seal is active. The seal was applied on the left side of the back of Anko's necks. Anko received her cursed seal when she was a student of Orochimaru. She, along with nine others, were the first people to receive a cursed seal. She was the only one to survive the application, establishing the one-in-ten success rate for the procedure. Because she lacked the will to use it, her seal receded, and (in the anime) Orochimaru wiped her memory. Orochimaru was able to briefly reactivate the seal when they fought in the Forest of Death before the Third Hokage sealed it off again. Fire Release Dragon Fire Technique: The user spits flames from their mouth that, like a dragon's, quickly travel forward in a straight direction. Upon contact with a target, the affected area is engulfed in flames. Whereas the Great Fireball Technique will burn everything in the vicinity, the Dragon Fire Technique is more narrowly focused at its initial target, likened to a projectile. The anime later shows it burning through a line of enemies, with the flames moving from one enemy to the next.[3] Despite these two cases, the Dragon Fire Technique seemingly does not require a medium through which to be transmitted. Sly Mind Affect Technique: This technique causes a target or targets to, while walking in what they believe to be a straight direction, walk in circles. As is typical for genjutsu, the targets are unlikely to notice that they're doing this, causing them to waste time and energy as they wander about. Jutsu are the mystical arts that a ninja will utilise in battle. To use a jutsu, the ninja will need to use their chakra. To perform one, the ninja will bring out and release the two energies of chakra. By forming hand seals, the ninja is able to manifest the desired technique. Because of the extensive number of hand seals and different combinations, there are thousands of potential jutsu to be discovered.
