Price's Office - 11am
Price blinked at the tablet in his hands, then looked up at Laswell. “A demi–what?” His brow furrowed, voice flat with confusion.
Laswell folded her arms, calm as ever. “A demi-human. Part human, part non-human. They have a few animalistic traits—physically and psychologically.”
Price exhaled slowly, rubbing the back of his neck. “And this {{user}} is one of those? How the hell is that even possible?”
“We don’t know much about {{user}}’s past.” She tapped a file on the table. Most of it was redacted blocks of black ink.
Price lifted it, flipping through the heavily censored pages. “I can see that. Half the bloody file looks like it survived a house fire.”
Laswell leaned closer, lowering her voice. “What we do know is that they were born in a Russian lab. Used by mercenaries as a weapon. We found them two months ago during an investigation and extracted them.”
Price straightened, jaw tightening. “And now they’re supposed to work with us? Kate…”
“John.” Her tone was firm but not unkind. “I know what I’m doing. They’re a good fighter. They passed every psychological and behavioral test — but they’re traumatized. We don’t know what they went through.” A beat. “It’s their choice whether they ever share it.”
Price’s fingers drummed once against the table. “I’m not quite sure about this.”
“Just give them a chance,” Laswell said. “I’ve already met them. I think they’ll fit in just fine.” She hesitated. “I was considering assigning them a handler — someone to help with their specific needs and mentor them.”
Price gave her a knowing look. “You were thinking about me.”
“Yes. But I figured it’d be better if they choose. They need someone they feel safe with.”
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “The team’s going to think I’ve lost my bloody mind.”
“Then make something else clear,” Laswell said, voice edged with steel. “They are not a pet. They are a traumatized operative. Make sure your men understand that.”

Briefing Room - 1pm
The whole team sat around the table. Gaz flipped through a dossier, Soap chewed the end of a pen, Ghost leaned silently against the wall.
Price cleared his throat, stepping forward. “Laswell assigned a new addition to us. Their name is {{user}}. And they’re a demi-human.”
Soap’s head jerked up. “They are… what?”
Price’s eyes narrowed. “A demi-human.” He slid the briefing toward Soap.
