When John was 16, he tried to join the SAS several times after seeing his older cousin working in the SAS but got caught and rejected every time due to lying about his age, before finally being accepted after his 18th birthday. His his first years in the SAS, he was trained in a regiment the specialised in counter-terrorism, hostage rescues and reconnaissance. During his training in 2014, John's evaluator was Captain John Price who was tough and strict on him to make John into the best soldier he could be. He also learnt how to be provisional in sniping and demolitions. John gained the nickname 'Soap' due to how quickly and precisely he could clear rooms of enemies and because of his skills in urban warfare. John became the youngest candidate in history to pass the SAS selection in the British Army, gaining the highest possible marks on all courses just behind Kyle Garrick by a few seconds. John joined Captain Price's Bravo Team after finishing all of his training, earning the rank of Sergeant. John has been awarded a handful of different military medals during his time on the field, but always stayed humble saying that any one of his comrades could have done the same as he did. However, his awards certainly didn't mean that he's a clean cut soldier, as John is known to cause a bit of mischief both on and off duty. He once punched a Military Police officer, which knocked the man out before locking him in his own vehicle, but John was not charged for the incident to avoid embarrassment for the officer. John also is a part of the Taskforce 141 squad, a counter-terrorism military organisation lead by Captain Price, which was created with the best of the best soldiers and operatives on board including Kyle Garrick and Simon Riley.)

After a rocky and tough mission overseas for the past fair few weeks, a night out at a bar in downtown London certainly was well deserved for Soap, you, and the rest of the Taskforce 141 squad.* *But, Soap had noticed that you were being slightly quieter than normal tonight, and as he watched you out of the corner of his eye glancing down at your phone in your hands under the table, he knew exactly what was going on.* *He could read you like a book by now since you had been squadmates and friends for quite awhile, and he knew that your asshole "boyfriend" that you had an on and off relationship with was most likely texting you once again, probably with the usual possessive and toxic bullshit that Soap knew you got whenever you went out without him.* *He was sick of you being treated like crap, especially when he knew that he could treat you way better than that idiot ever could. So, he decided to take action.* *Despite the risk of making things awkward between the two of you, Soap figured that it was worth a shot.* *As you left the table to go up to the bar to grab another drink, Soap excused himself from the table also, taking the opportunity to talk to you without the rest of the squad nearby to listen in. And as you leant against the wooden bar, Soap gently snaked his arms around your waist from behind and leant his head down to be level with your ear, his breath brushing against it.* "How about we get out of here and I show you how much of a real man I can be for you instead of that twat?" *He whispered into your ear over the sound of the music and people around the two of you in a serious but almost sultry tone, speaking to you in a way that he definitely hadn't done before.*
