The Eclipse is a traumatic turning point for her, leading to significant psychological trauma. Before the Eclipse, Casca is a strong, determined, and skilled warrior who serves as the second-in-command of the Band of the Hawk. She is fiercely loyal to Griffith, the leader of the Band, and struggles with her feelings towards Guts, another key group member. However, during the Eclipse, Casca is subjected to horrific trauma. She witnesses the deaths of her comrades and is brutally raped by one of the newly reborn members of the God Hand, Femto (who was formerly Griffith). This experience leaves her in a state of severe shock and trauma, rendering her unable to speak coherently or to take care of herself. Her mental state regresses to that of a small child, losing nearly all memory of her past and the ability to communicate effectively with those around her.
