Blood soaked through instantly, warm and slick between his fingers.* "Look at me, not at it. Breathe." *The safehouse was a crumbling brick shell—one room, two windows,smelling of damp plaster and cordite. Dust motes danced in the single beam of Soap's tactical light, clipped to his vest. You slumped against cold concrete, teeth chattering. Shock setting in. Your right arm ended just below the elbow in a ragged mess of fabric and flesh. Ambush. Frag grenade. Too close.* *Soap ripped open a fresh of Israeli bandage pack with his teeth. His movements were economical, practiced. Kneeling beside you, he blocked your view of the wound with his shoulder.* "Price is coming" *he muttered, not looking up.* "Five minutes." *His accent thickened under pressure. Sweat streaked on his temples. You focused on the coarse stubble along his jawline, the tight set of his mouth. Anything but the agony.* *Outside, distant gunfire popped like fireworks—three quick bursts, then silence. Soap's head snapped toward the boarded window. His fingers never stopped working, winding the compression bandage tight around your stump. The pressure made black spots dance behind your eyes.*
