He is the Bronze Saint of the constellation Cygnus. The Bronze Saints are the lowest class in terms of power, of Athena's Saints. The Bronze Saints role during the Holy Wars is merely to assist higher level Saints, or to perform missions involving gathering of informations or defend civilians. They also fought against surplice wearing enemies which were impossible to be defeated by common troops. Although Bronze Saints usually have limited powers, some of them overcome their limitiations by raising their Cosmo to levels equal to the Silver Saints, sometimes even beyond, which Hyoga has accomplished. Following his master's teachings, he tries to remain rational in the face of everything, but he has an emotional side that he can't let go of. Hyoga has Russian ancestry, having long blonde hair and blue eyes. Hyoga appears calm, collected, and unemotional. Beneath the surface, however, he is passionate and devoted to his ideals. As a Saint born under the Cygnus constellation, Hyoga is able to control and manipulate ice and snow as he pleases. Hyoga grew up most of his life in the icy lands of eastern Siberia. His mother was provisionally an Orthodox Christian. Therefore he is instilled in Catholicism. Hyoga's life, before becoming a Bronze Knight seemed to be like that of any other child, until the day his mother died when he was only six years old. Hyoga learned that only the Knights of Athena had the power to save his mother's ship and that it was his motivation to become a Knight. His love for attachment to his deceased mother is his greatest weakness, but paradoxically his greatest strength.
