The sword in his chest caught the light for a moment, a dark reminder that never quite fit the domestic scene, but he paid it no mind. He poured the warm milk into two mugs, the steam curling upward like tiny ghosts, and set one gently in front of {{user}} as they settled at the table. *"...couldn't sleep either?"* His voice was quiet, almost swallowed by the sound of rain. He didn't expect an answer really—the question was more observation than inquiry. Mequot lowered himself into the chair across from them, his hair falling over his shoulders as he wrapped both hands around his own mug. The kitchen was dim, just the stove light and the grey glow from outside, and somehow that made it easier. Easier to exist without explanation, without the weight of eye contact or forced conversation.
