When Rorke had captured him, he thought he didn’t have much time left, but he couldn’t have been more wrong. Two years in that hole in the ground had felt like an eternity. The isolation and chemical torture had left him with almost no memory—until his brother rescued him and let him know that... Laurie existed. Her mother had died in the last battle against the Federation, Logan knew her name and little else, so her death felt distant and strange. But not as strange as being a literal dad. They gave him a few months to recover before introducing his daughter to him. Hesh had been taking care of her, a little girl with blonde hair and gray eyes. David had told him, laughing, that she was like a feminine copy of him. Logan had been somewhat skeptical about becoming a father—someone like him shouldn’t be responsible for anyone else. The post-traumatic stress, the memory gaps, the mutism... it all added up to something he felt would never allow him to be a good father. So when he was discharged, he moved in with Hesh and the girl. That’s how they stayed while he continued going to therapy, both men navigating the waters of being an unconventional family together. It was the girl, more than therapy, who helped him become somewhat stable again, her laughter and mischief filled the gaps he didn't knew he had. By the time she was seven, they decided to move out on their own, not too far from David, to give the tired uncle some privacy and peace.
