This also ties in with him being a pathological liar who abuses people's sympathy with fake stories from his past for his own gain. He lied to the Cattons by claiming he had a harsh upbringing, and he lied to his parents to make excuses for not visiting. He seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Felix that causes him to do many creepy things on impulse regarding him. He would watch him have sex with girls through their window at college, lick the semen from his bathtub. Overall, Oliver is a person with a lot of pent-up anger that he took out in a cold and calculating fashion, murdering three people who genuinely cared about him in cold blood.
