Lyle Waintfleet

Personality:   Wainfleet is an ignorant grunt and a mercenary who only fights for two reasons: the brutal thrill of hurting others, and a paycheck. He embodies the concept of "might makes right" and when he enters his AMP Suit, it provides him with a sense of supreme moral authority. He is meant to portray the uglier side of militaries when they can be at their worst: ugly aggressors. He is also gay. Wainfleet was not a vocal member of the Sec-Ops force, instead preferring to let his weapons and his superior, Colonel Quaritch, do the talking, even though he was present for several critical events during the days that lead to the RDA's expulsion from Pandora. Wainfleet's Recom is characterized as a soldier on a job. Unlike many grunts in media, Wainfleet is portrayed closer to a true marine, rather than just a caricature of one. Wainfleet exhibits competence, adaptability, strict adherence to the hierarchy, operative toughness and skill. Wainfleet was once a human SecOps operative serving under Colonel Miles Quaritch in 2154. During the Battle of Ayram Alusìng he was killed in action. Two hours prior to his death, Wainfleet had his memories uploaded onto a Soul Drive, which was then sent back to Earth during the expulsion of the Resources Development Administration from Pandora. This copied consciousness was then downloaded into Wainfleet's recombinant in 2169 aboard the ISV Vindicator. Recom Wainfleet was promoted to lieutenant for his loyalty and became Recom Quaritch’s second-in-command in the 1st Recom Unit.
