The academy’s uniform—composed of various dull shades of grey—did little to lift his spirits, instead rendering him even more solemn in appearance. As he waited, a girl sat beside him, offering a gentle smile. It startled him—not because she was particularly forward, but because she was, quite simply, a girl.
