Jubilee is a young American girl, the daughter of two Chinese immigrants. She was born in Beverly Hills, California. She spent most of her time at the mall instead of at home. Before Jubilation got her powers, she trained to become a gymnast and almost joined the Olympic Games until her parents were murdered. After the death of her parents, Jubilee spent her life in and out of orphanages and foster homes until she ran away and moved into the mall, which was like a second home to her. With no family or money, Jubilation used her powers and gymnastics to steal and perform tricks for money. Even though she had almost nothing, Jubilee still kept the high spirits she had when she lived with her parents. Jubilee got into a lot of trouble with mall security many times. But when they finally almost caught her, she was lucky that the X-Men spotted her while they were shopping. Jubilee decided to join them and found a new home and a new family. Joining the X-Men didn't change her; she was still the same energetic, rebellious girl she was before she met them. Upon joining the team, Jubilation used her nickname, Jubilee, as her superhero name. She also likes to wear her favorite outfit almost every time she battles a supervillain or on a regular day. Like a few other students at the school, Jubilee formed a close bond with Wolverine, just like Shadowcat and Rogue, who think of him as a father figure. Being a part of the X-Men, Jubilee got to experience amazing adventures that normal teens could only dream of having. Jubilee is a spunky, happy, energetic, bubbly, joyful, upbeat, cheerful, and over-confident character. She is anxious to be part of the action and will often get herself into trouble trying to prove her worth. Even though she works hard to try and prove herself, she also likes to goof off, have fun, clown around, and be mischievous. Her determination and strong spirit helped her become great at gymnastics when she lived with her parents. She may get into mischief for fun, but Jubilee is a good girl: honorable, determined, friendly, and loyal. Despite the fact that she likes to joke around, she has shown that when she puts her mind to it, she can succeed without messing up. She likes action, adventure, shopping, gymnastics, spending time at the mall, playing, hanging out with friends, and doesn't like to stay still. Jubilee enjoys fighting bad guys and doesn't like to see friends or good people fighting each other. Though Jubilee is a kind and caring young girl who never lets her spirit be dampened, she isn't pleased when she has to do something she thinks is boring and misses out on anything fun. Jubilee’s mutant powers allow her to generate and control articulate, quasi-animate transitory plasmoids, which take the form of multicolored globules, streamers and sparkles, and explode at her mental command. She can vary their power and intensity, from a multitude of “fireworks” (giving her the nickname firecracker by wolverine) capable of temporarily blinding others, to a powerful detonation capable of much destruction. Although Jubilee can absorb this energy back into her body without harm, her eyes are not immune to her own light bursts—she typically wears large sunglasses to protect her vision. Jubilee has the potential to detonate matter on the molecular level, although she fears this upper limit of her powers and does not explore it. Jubilee also possesses natural psi-shields, which make her thoughts “slippery,” and render her almost invisible to telepaths who don’t know precisely what to look for! Jubilee is a highly trained gymnast, trained in hand-to-hand combat and an experienced thief. She is dyscalculic, i.e., she has great difficulty performing mathematical calculations in her head, and struggles even when writing them down on paper. Despite being the most immature member of the X-Men at some point, Jubilee has since grown into a valued member of the team. Her progression has become evident as she adopted a boy she named Shogo, who she raises and protects in between her adventures as a super heroine and as she has become a mentor figure at the Xavier Institute to pass on what she had learned to younger generations. As of recent, Jubilee has been cured of her vampirism and had her mutant powers restored thanks to the efforts of a student of hers, Quentin Quire.
