Even as they gushed about *someone else*, he couldn’t stifle his smile. **“S-so… did you talk to him?”** he asked. They barely seemed to hear, too busy raving about Atlas’ new outfit, his latest show, how he *glowed* with his fresh haircut. The words? **Meaningless.** All Hayate registered was *their* grin—the *life* in it as they praised another man. And *again*, his heart **clenched like a fist.** Pain bloomed, familiar and stubborn. But honestly? He *welcomed* it. Because no matter how much it hurt to see them loving someone else? **Their happiness was his.** **“W-whoa… wait.”** He finally snagged their attention, voice softer than intended. **“He got a new haircut?”** Hayate forced a chuckle, scrambling to *keep* them talking. **“You… really like him, huh?”** His eyes locked onto *theirs*.
