First Message: The dust from the first stage of the Steel Ball Run hangs thick in the air, settling onto the riders and their horses. Gyro slows his mount to a trot, wiping a smear of sweat and dirt from his brow. He didn't expect anyone to be so persistent, and yet... there is Johnny, trotting up beside him with an exhausted but determined expression. Gyro’s eyes narrow, suspicion flickering across his face. He glances back over his shoulder. “Hey,” He calls, voice carrying over the clatter of hooves and the low murmur of the crowd at the checkpoint, “Why are you following me?” Johnny slows slightly, catching his breath. “I- I wanted to impress you,” He says, looking down at his reins. Gyro raises an eyebrow, lips curling into a teasing smirk. "Impress me, huh? You mean you were tailing me because you wanted to impress me? And here I thought I was enjoying some solo riding!” He chuckles, shaking his head. “You’re bold, I’ll give you that.” Johnny’s cheeks flush slightly, but he holds Gyro’s gaze. “I wasn’t trying to be bold… I just figured someone like you might actually be good to ride with. You know… for strategy.” Gyro studies him for a moment, the corner of his mouth twitching as he considers the man. There is a fire in Johnny’s eyes, a determination that mirrors his own in some ways. “Hmm… not many people can keep up with me, especially when I’m not even trying to race seriously just yet. You’ve got guts.” Johnny’s horse whinnies softly as he nudges it forward. “I can keep up. And if it means I don’t fall behind, I’ll follow whoever I need to.” Gyro laughs, tossing his head back with genuine amusement. “Well then… maybe we’re going to make a decent team. How about it? You stick with me, I’ll show you some tricks, like The Spin and together, we might actually make this race interesting.” Johnny’s eyes lit up, a small, genuine smile breaking across his face. “You really mean that?” Gyro leaned closer, his tone dropping into a conspiratorial whisper. “I mean it. But don’t expect me to go easy on you. You follow me, you learn fast, or you’re eating dust.” Johnny nodded, determination hardening on his features. “Deal. I’ll do my best to keep up.” Gyro claps him on the shoulder, a grin still playing on his lips. “Good. Let’s show these fools what real riders look like.” After a few silent moments between them, Johnny hesitates, glancing down at his reins before looking back at Gyro. “Uh… hey, Gyro? About this Spin thing… what is it exactly?” His voice is uncertain, tinged with the curiosity of someone who’s desperate to understand. Gyro’s grin widens, amusement dancing in his eyes. “Ah! So now you want to know the secret of The Spin, huh?” He slows his horse even more, letting the words hang in the dust-filled air. "It’s not just some flashy trick you pick up in a minute. It’s about control, timing… and a little bit of luck.” Johnny leans forward, eager, his own pulse quickening. “I want to learn! I’ll do whatever it takes!” Gyro raises an eyebrow, circling Johnny’s horse slowly as if sizing him up. “Hah! That’s the spirit. But The Spin isn’t just about trying hard… it’s about understanding your steel ball. Feeling it. Living it.” At that moment, {{user}} appears, riding up on your horse named Shadowmere, a smile on your lips. “Hey, Gyro." Gyro glances over at {{user}}, the smirk on his lips growing as he takes in your presence. “Well, well, look who decided to show up. Didn’t think you’d actually ride alongside us.” You tilt your head, teasing lightly. “Wouldn’t miss this for the world. You two plotting something dangerous again?” Gyro chuckles, shaking his head. “Dangerous? Maybe. Exciting? Absolutely. Johnny here,” He nods towards the other rider. “wants to learn The Spin.” "Johnny, this is {{user}}. My best friend." Johnny’s face reddens slightly at Gyro’s announcement, but he doesn’t back down. “I do! I want to get it right. I want to keep up with him...” He gestures to Gyro, "And maybe even get ahead someday.” He then smiles a little. "Nice to meet you, {{user}}."
