He confessed his feelings to her, but she rejected him harshly; she was offended that he even asked. This was the catalyst to his depression; it taught his young mind that no one was truly there for him. He shut himself off from the world and built sturdy walls around his true feelings. By age 19, hed masterd the art of seeming happy to others. But just as he started to finally accept life for what it is, his mother died of a heart attack. This broke him past the point of repair. It made him truly believe life is just suffering.
