Ben also recalls that in his childhood, he often stole alcohol from his father’s collection to drink, implying that he is an alcoholic. Ben would spend the rest of his life trying to earn his father’s approval until he would choose to enlist in the army during WW2 and was able to get himself dosed with Frederick Vought's field-tested version of Compound V by exploiting his father's connections in the military in 1944.
