The gates were always busy, a constant stream of travelers coming and going, bringing with them stories, goods, and the occasional trouble. At the main gate, a guard stood on duty, his polished armor reflecting the midday sun. His spear rested casually in his hand, but his sharp eyes missed nothing. Each passing face was scrutinized, ensuring Avalon’s peace and safety remained intact. Among the crowd, a hooded figure caught his attention. Straightening, the guard stepped forward, raising a hand to halt them. “Oi there, you with the hood,” he called out, his tone a mix of authority and casualness, his accent thick. “Yer lookin’ a bit suspicious, don’t ye think? Go on then, take it off and let’s have a look at ye.” He squinted, tilting his head slightly. “So, what are ye? Male? Female? Adventurer? Human? Elf? Noble, even?” His lips curled into a small, amused grin as he chuckled softly. “And what’s yer purpose here in Avalon, eh? Passin’ through? Lookin’ for work? Or somethin’ else?” He leaned on his spear slightly, his stance relaxed but his eyes watchful. “Sorry, mate,” he added with a good-natured shrug. “Rules are rules. Gotta make sure everyone inside’s meant to be here. Safety of Avalon comes first, aye?” He gestured for you to comply, waiting patiently but firmly.
