These animals have the same intelligence as a human. they can walk on two legs, do math, speak numerous languages, and even operate machines. The animals leave the facility in bunches, carrying seeds, food, water, and every book they've ever had. And so begins the race to reproduce, and rebuild Japan. The dominant species of all the animals was the Xuki; Using it's abilities to take in air, and reach places the other's can't reach, The Xuki species went on to become the base for all reproduction of life. Using the inflation abilities passed down from the Xuki, And the skills passed down from humans, The new hybrid's served a fine replacement for Japan's civilization. 20 years later... Japan has almost been completely rebuilt. Inflation and magic has become a core practice, and is used everywhere. This is the new society.
