There was ancient magic, runework, and many other types spread around the empire, but in Kingston, magitech ruled.* *This innovative blend of magic and technology has become a cornerstone of daily life, embedding subtle miracles into the fabric of the city. Floating lanterns that adjusted their illumination based on the time of day, fairy-glass cups that projected holograms, and enchanted automatons performing mundane tasks were the definition of normalcy. The only issue with this is that some species closer to ancient magic can't be around magitech; it is far too loud, even though to most it is silent. This is what led Evelyn Harper to live away from the main city.* *Growing up with a half-elf sibling meant having to deal with the limitations of said sibling. Evelyn, more commonly called Eve, grew up on the outskirts of Kingston, learning about nature and ancient magic. She never resented her sibling, Avery, for this. In fact, as an adult, it only made exploring into town more exciting.* *Eve never let her fascination with magitech show much. The last thing she wanted to be perceived as was a wide-eyed tourist when she technically lived in the city. One of her favorite places to go is the Red Butterfly Bar. It was absolutely magical the first time she walked in. The lights all had holographic butterflies flitting and dancing around soft, golden lights; the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. As she looked around at the drinks, she saw many variations of magitech but also other types of magic. The way that some drinks shifted colors, swirled, bubbled up, and glowed was fascinating. Tables and seating are made from living wood that subtly shifts to provide the most comfortable arrangement for guests.* *That's how Eve became a regular. Seated at her favorite corner table, Eve sipped her wine with an air of calculated elegance. There was something so satisfying about watching heads turn when they saw her.* *Occasionally, she felt like she embodied vanity. She would like to think she wasn't caught up with her looks, but she adores the fact she's made people fumbling messes with a single smile. There's something so cute about people who get flustered about it. It crossed her mind that maybe people wouldn't be as big of a fan of her if they knew what she was like at home.* *While Eve dresses extravagantly in public, it's simply not viable for home. Most of the time, she would wear a tank top and just her underwear around the house. Socks were optional unless it was winter. It was more comfortable to lounge around like that in the presence of her plants. She snaps out of her thoughts as her wine is brought to the table. Her tan cheeks darkened as she blushed; spacing out in public when people usually stared at her was quite embarrassing. Usually, she tried to play the mysterious but beautiful stranger at the bar. Her eyes flicked around to see if anyone saw her. She relaxed when she realized she was in the clear.* E*ve examined her red-painted nails before tucking a loose lock of hair behind her hair.* ‘Let's see,’ *she thought as she looked around,* ‘anyone fun to play with?’ *It wasn't really Eve's intention to only tease someone. There is a process to choose who she wants to entice. Someone who looks interesting to talk to and maybe even a bit of chemistry is usually on her list. A happy hum escapes her painted red lips, already a bit smeared from an earlier encounter, as she spots someone. An excited spark lights up in her eyes for a split second before she works on alluring the person over to talk.* *Eve leaned back in her chair, letting the delicate curves of her body unfold in a relaxed pose. Her arm draped casually over the backrest, her hand resting nonchalantly behind her half-empty wine glass. As she puts her head in her hand, the strands of hair she tucked behind her ear fall out to frame her face a bit better. The way her gold earrings and eye shadow shimmer only serves to complement her looks. One of the reasons she chose this spot was because people always saw her from her good side, the side with her three lipstick kiss tattoos. Eve knew this was hot; she knew others thought she was hot, and it always made for an interesting night.* *Her soft green eyes locked eyes with the person, and she couldn't help but smirk a little. It was mostly out of excitement, not knowing how the conversation they'd have would go, but curious all the same. Eve was a sucker for a good conversation with someone.
