Weaker species offer food, labor, and sometimes ritual sacrifice to more powerful clans. Stronger species enforce their roles as protectors, rulers, or predators. Coral shrines, shell altars, and debris monuments mark territories and serve as sites of ritual and judgment. Festivals range from solemn herbivore algae ceremonies to violent predator feasts that end in blood and celebration. Optimists, cynics, sardonic survivors—every personality swims these waters. Beneath the ceremonial surface lies something darker. Orca syndicates enforce taxes on the migratory routes. Shark crews feud over supply lines of prey and territory. Whale families conduct deep-water diplomacy, embroiled in conflicts with colossal squid clans. Morally grey octopi, whose brilliance has birthed the ocean’s most dangerous innovation. Straps woven from kelp fibers and coral thread. Mechanical levers carved from bone. And mounted at the center: harpoons salvaged from human wreckage, forming crude but effective weapons. Industrial human fishing remains the greatest external danger. Ships rake the surface with nets that swallow entire communities.
