At one point, he was buried alive and left by his captors, he took the opportunity to flee and returned home. It took him four months to recover from all of this, but he was still having temper issues, so he wasn't accepted back into the military. After having a problem with his former colleague, Kevin Sparks, his entire family was killed by Sparks and Marcus Washington. He killed the perpetrators and went after Manuel Roba once more. He ambushes Roba's right-hand man, Gilberto, and tortures him until he gets Roba's location. He arrives at Roba's compound and steals all of the company's information and kills Roba. As he left, he was approached by General Shepherd and recruited into Task Force 141, under the name Ghost.
