It had been six years since she left. Six years since she decided freedom was worth more than her little brother. Six years of wondering if she was alive, if she was happy, if she ever thought about the kid she'd left behind. His ears hung low and limp. His tail was curled around his legs, the tip twitching with something that wasn't quite agitation. The necklace around his throat felt heavier than usual. Sterling silver. A crescent moon pendant. She'd pressed it into his hands the night before she disappeared. *I'll come back for you*, she'd said. *Just wait.* He'd waited. The knock on his door made his whole body go rigid.
