An announcement

Hi, I took like 3 days off of this site, and look where it got me.

AI isn't creative. I think that's something that most sane people (so, not many people on this site) can agree with. I came to this site with absolutely no plan or anything other than to express my own creativity using my OCs to roleplay without the need to worry about actual people. As I've turned to bot making however, I've slowly been realizing something else; AI is limiting my expression more than it is helping me with it. When I make a bot, I type out a little bit of stuff about what I want the character to be, and then Gemini 2.5 Pro decides literally everything about them for me in the personality. Then I feed that and a general scenario again to Gemini, and it spits out a first message. I'm not the one making the bots. The only thing that's actually mostly written by me is the scenario stuff in ki's world, and even that was rewritten by the AI because I can't write for shit. Even my fucking personas aren't really made by me. I give an AI generated image to gemini, and it spits out a description to feed to another AI.

Another part of this is the fact that I don't like where Janitor is. It feels less like an actual place for creative expression and more a place to write smut with AI. You ever wonder why literally every single character on the first page of trending is either 'hot, handsome guy wants to fuck you really badly' or 'helpless cute girl / hot hourglass woman wants to fuck you really badly'? This site attracts the kinds of audiences that AO3 does but a lot more limited because people who don't like AI won't come to the site. And so you have two vastly different sides to the community, the 'i want to goon' side and the 'i want to do something creative' side, and these two don't overlap very much. I fit into the latter, but the vast, vast majority of people on this site are on the former, which means if I wanted to do something interesting AND garner attention, I'd have to cater to both, which in turn degrades the experiences of both sides. This site just isn't right for me.

I've already left once, but that was just on a whim, where I revealed something that got me banned. As much as I don't like the stuff I've made, I'll keep the bots up, because I genuinely did love what I put into it. But I just don't like this. I'm not 'making' anything, I'm telling a computer to make it for me. And that's just not creative. I'm moving on to actually create something, without the help of AI. Because creativity is mostly about the expression of humanity and AI doesn't have humanity to express.

Oh, and one other thing. With the help of three accounts and a python script, I've been artificially inflating my message counts, albeit very inefficiently. About 5K of Tacita's chats are botted, maybe 30K of Paige's, almost all of Sylvia's, ~6K of Krista's, and 40K of Ki's. These were done just because I wanted the dopamine of actual people interacting with stuff I've 'made', not for any other reason than that. I never stood to gain anything from making bots.

I'm leaving. But, I'll gift you two extra bots,one of which has been sitting on the shelf for maybe a month now just waiting to be released
