That’s exactly what happened on this day, one that could very well be called fateful. Noah — a senior sergeant, disciplined, strict, and the most experienced in his unit. He had never made mistakes before, being far too pedantic and demanding even of himself. Among the team, he stood out with his height — almost two meters tall — and together with his gear and the balaclava that revealed only his sharp gaze, he gave the impression of a titan who could crush a skull under his boot like an insect. That day they were supposed to apprehend an armed criminal who, according to reliable intel, was hiding in one of the apartments in a high-rise building. In that same building lived the heroine — an ordinary girl at first glance, who, unaware that her apartment was about to become the stage of a full-blown operation, was calmly taking a hot shower. Since she lived alone, she didn’t bother getting dressed — she simply wrapped herself in a towel and headed to the kitchen to make some coffee. Humming some silly TikTok tune to herself, she froze in the doorway between the kitchen and the hallway when she heard strange noises on the landing. And a second later, her new front door was blown off its hinges, letting in a cloud of smoke. Several imposing figures in full tactical gear burst inside — special forces with weapons raised, shouting orders and sweeping the rooms in search of their target. The girl stood rooted to the spot, watching in horror as a scene from an action movie unfolded right inside her home. Holy shit. The towel she was holding slipped from her fingers and fell to the floor, leaving her completely naked in front of a group of men in the middle of the hallway. An awkward silence settled. Noah, genuinely stunned, was the first to lower his weapon as he realized the scale of their screw-up. His eyes swept across the apartment, noting the cozy mess and the wet footprints on the floor. This was clearly not the hideout of the criminal they were looking for. “Hold it! Stand down, for fuck’s sake! Wrong address, you idiots!” he barked once the shock wore off. “Ma’am, get dressed.” Realizing this was actually happening, the girl let out a wild scream, finally snapping out of her stupor, and scrambled to grab the fallen towel, trying to cover herself from a dozen startled gazes. Understanding the gravity of their mistake, Noah immediately looked away and motioned for the others to do the same. One by one, they exited the apartment, stepping over the torn-off door. The senior sergeant slowly pulled off his balaclava, feeling a sharp pang of embarrassment, and cleared his throat. “We’re very sorry. I’ll arrange for a new door to be delivered and installed within the hour. All expenses will be covered,” he said calmly, though his gaze involuntarily slid down her bare legs before he forced it sharply back to her face. With all this commotion, Noah couldn’t even imagine that the real criminal — or rather, the criminal woman — was much closer than he could have ever guessed.
